The Last of Us Season 2 reviews are starting to come out

I think much like with the first season is the takes on this season are going to be pretty polarized and it will come down to just a matter of personal preference on if you like the changes they've made. So I think the opinions will be pretty varied and there won't be one consistent sentiment throughout all reviewers. Aside from the fact that it appears most people still consider it a good show, even those who are less positive, but it will come down to the specific moments and who liked how they translated it and who didn't.
I already hate how they are introducing Abby now

Seems like they are reusing the same idea Druckman had for the game, then decided to drop it, but suddenly found the idea to be good now for the show (it wasnt)

She should have been recasted, ffs.

Everyone saw it coming from a mile away.

I thought she was great in Season 1 but should have been recast in Season 2. You're just talking about a very different Ellie and a more physically imposing Ellie at that.

The first tag line from the game's marketing was Dina telling Ellie that everyone should be frightened of her.

It's a mixed bag though, you would have had people complaining about her being recast too. That's just how tv works.

Where did you come up with this theory?

I'll probably watch it eventually, but I didn't like what they did to S1. From casting, to very little action, to some of the episodes being really weird filler.

Having said that, it still had one of the best and most terrifying opening scenes to any recent series I've ever seen and it was achieved by just talking. Just insane.

Best thing out of the 2 seasons.

The game initially was this open-world thing. And you spent all this time in Jackson," Druckmann said in an interview with IGN. "Abby joined the community and you were playing as this new character until she *spoilers*"
But Druckmann explained that spending so much time with Abby before Joel's death, "just didn't work because Joel dying is the inciting incident, and you want to get to the inciting incident as quickly as you can.

Having now played about half of TLOU2, I don't see any way they make that actress accurately portray the beast that Ellie becomes in the game. Further shining light on what a huge mistake that casting was.

I told you they would not fuck the TV audience like they fucked the game audience(us).

They are gonna get a whole extra season of Joel and a meaningful death. They are going to remove what made the game so shocking because TV audiences would revolt just like the gaming audience did.

They caved, which actually makes me hate the game that much more now. If they had just caved with the game it could have been much better.

They ain't killing off Joel until as late as fucking possible and they will soften his death. They treat TV audiences so much better than they treated us. Where's your artistic integrity? If Joel's death is softened AT ALL they are sellouts.

They might, but I'm not so sure based on the reviews. The reviews say there is a cliffhanger at the end, but they also eluded to a shocking moment early in the season that will stun non-gamers. Gee, I wonder what that is.

I will never watch this but the memes are entertaining

Everything from the trailer suggests it's happening early in the season, not at the end.

I actually disappointed they didn't cast a big musclebound butch lesbian to play Abby. Would've been extra hilarious trying to show Bella Ramsay fight someone like that.

The fact that Abby is physically so different than the one from the game just goes to show how overboard they went with her design to show "female empowernment" back then and whatever woke crap they had in mind. I did like her story arch and the game but I really thought her design was so stupid and over the top just to show a "strong" female. This thing how they want to show a different abby for the show is just an excuse, the producers probably thought, where the fuck do we find some butch boy, oversized chick that can act.

"Bella Ramsey was fantastic as a younger version of Ellie, but their performance in season 2 didn't really sell me on the fact that five years have passed in the world of The Last of Us. Ellie just doesn't appear to have matured, and it sits strangely next to the very mature content of season 2. Ramsey acts with more physicality, displaying impressive combat skills, but still behaves like a child in conversation."
obviously written by a sexist misogynist...

I completely lost interest a few episodes in but E1 was legit great. It felt poignant and really doomy.

I think I already checked out in E4.

Give her 10 more years and she'll play Joel.
Nah you could sell it to her as a true expression of her thespian range. Imagine, what trans actor would be committed enough to play a role as their dead-gender? Only a legendary art savant. I swear if the right people contacted her, they could be really convincing with that angle. Wig, some prosthetics, money in the bank fam.

Well, fans of TLOU2 dont like to admit it, but the story or rather the plot of the sequel simply isnt as good. There is literally nothing that happens when you get to Seattle with Ellie. The three days basically go by as she eliminates one person after another. There is no story there. It's mostly just Ellie either going at it alone or with Dina or Jesse for a few missions.

Abby's plot of saving those two kids isnt particularly great either, but at least there is a plot of an impending invasion of the island that the show couldve built around.

The game is boring despite the stunning visuals, excellent combat, and superb level design because the story is simply lacking. They shouldve crammed everything in one season instead of splitting it into two.
lets not forget that they.
ruined ellie she loses joel her gf her baby and her ability to play the guitar by the end of the game.
FUCK you cuckmann.

Has to be better than the first season, right? Apart from 2 episodes it was boring as fuck.
Agreed. As a massive Last of Us fan of the games including Part 2, I found season 1 of the show to be very disappointing. It felt.. Lazy! They could of done so much more, it should have had higher production value, a bit more action etc. They could of easily made Part 1 in 2 seasons and they rushed it. Sounds like they rushed season 2 also.

lets move the weekly discussion in here

You took a game with a bloated and unnecessary second half that pissed off players immensely.

There's no way to fix this turd lol.

Pedro is lucky he's moving onto fantastic 4 and avengers movies.
He fucking sucks. He has to be in so many movies, he reminds me of those guys that played every grunt or mini boss in the 80s and 90s action movies.

I tell it like it is. It can't be worse than showing up in every Naughty Dog threat to complain about the game that released nearly 5 years ago.

Dude can if the game that released nearly five years ago has a new edition every six months. Then it's kinda relevant again. Like when you microwave last night's dinner. It's not just like brand new, but it's kinda warm again, it's palletable

I feel sorry for the girl playing Ellie, she is getting torched for her looks, and that's sad. This is on Neil lol. Like what the actual fuck dude, almost everyone cast has some resemblance to the characters in the game, why did they cast this girl? Every clip I've seen on X of her acting is also atrocious.

Because she was already on contract through HBO from GOT so they could get a lead for a big show for pennies. Pedro was also probably on contract as well from GOT. That was his breakout role when he was a nobody so they probably signed him for multiple things and now HBO is cashing in.

If you watch HBO shows, you'll notice the same actors are in at least 3-4 different things on the channel. Sony does the same thing to Tom Holland.
