I really want to buy a PC games, stop forcing me to pirate

If you accept that taking something without permission is theft, then piracy falls right into that definition. There's no special exception because it's digital.
In the end I simply look at it this way:

If everyone pirated, we'd have no games to buy. It doesn't matter if it's not physically removing an item from a store or not.

Same as if you could "pirate a car." If everyone pirated cars, every car dealership on earth would close.

Every person committing "digital theft" is doing the same selfish act as someone committing "physical theft" as in they are assigning themselves to a group that for whatever reason shouldn't pay for shit. Using lame ass excuses like "well I didn't physically remove a product so it's not the same!" doesn't suddenly excuse the anti-social behavior.

LOL

To all the losers in this thread:

YOU ARE DEFENDING PUBLISHERS
1. FROM YOUR OWN RIGHT TO RESELL THE GAME
2. NOT HAVING THE GAME ON PHYSICAL MEDIA 100GB DISC (BUT INSTEAD DOWNLOADING IT FROM THE INTERNET)
3. THE ABILITY FOR YOU TO ADD IT TO A BEAUTIFUL PHYSICAL COLLECTION

Absolute useful dumb mules

It's kindergarten logic. The excuses don't change the fact that it's selfish behavior. No matter how you spin it, it's a lack of respect for the value others put into their work

Good luck with all that. Most BluRay discs can't hold uncompressed data to run the game off the disc anymore. Even Sony and Microsoft force you to install. Even then, discs will rot out after a while.

pure obnoxiousness... Come on man stop acting 12 you're not helping your point whatsoever

1. Buy on GOG
2. download installer
3. place it on usb stick
4. BOOM! You have your game on physical media!
bwahaha this is so laughable. ONE unique vendor. Can't sell, can't trade, can't lend the game, won't become a collectors item worth even more. Worthless. No wonder PC gaming is a pirate's den.

Whats ur goal making this topic, op?
U wanna insult other forum users, convince us to buy physical only or want us to convince u to buy digital or what was the purpose of making the topic?
Coz pretty sure no need to convince eachother of anthing, and even more no need to insult fellow gaffers, no?
TLDR Topic is pretty pointless imho.

So, serious question. Before steam, did we see pc games getting massive sales like we do now? Not just a couple clearance games at a random store, but places that put 90% of the store on massive sales? I don't recall that ever happening for pc games. I've seen it for consoles though so I'm just wondering.

What I do recall is physical copies having a limited number of installations. Guess OP really miss those days.

You mean a DIGITAL library, like needing to go ONLINE through the same vendor?
no
as in
download the installer .exe
you own the game. at that point all you'd need to do is install the game on your device. There's no internet connection required and the game does not need to be connected online to play.

Even supposed DRM like steam doesn't need an active internet connection 90% of the time. i have had more trouble working with DRM like Denuvo as opposed to Steam's own "DRM"

I don't recall that ever happening, interesting. That's crazy. Maybe it was to limit using it on more than one computer?
It was only for a short time during the PS360 gen. Shit sucked but at least they realized it was retarded.

I replied to an option of "lending the game", what you propose here won't work for someone else I give this pathetic USB.

One vendor? You have one digital vendor on PS5 while on PC there are MANY options and stores with keys.

Physical is great but console makers want it dead, next gen won't be that good for people that want physical copies...

My post about usb stick was not serious but you can always copy installer...

I want to buy a physical pc games to add it to my physical games collection

You know

I'm saying I want to give them money
Its bad deal for the pubs/devs, even bad deal for small/indie studios so its not gonna happen, it simply is too much effort for them to make phys copies/boxes for the games instead of selling u licence online, we all know it, u know it too.
Remember u are a guy, u cant be living in delulu land like many women do, u will be looked like a guy who escaped from some kind of Asylum/mental hospital if u keep behaving like u pretend to be delusional.

TLDR- Accept reality bro- phys copies are already non existent on the pc, last one i bought was witcher3 goty edition so almost 9 years ago...

On consoles they are being phased out too, likely 1 more gen and that is it aka partially on switch2 and ps6, likely no more on new xbox already.
We all know it, our only hope is for game prices to stay somewhat competetive is to stay on pc coz of competition from different stores/key sites- console digital stores already have nasty game prices and it will only become much worse.

You wanting to give them money and them wanting to sell you a physical product are mutually exclusive. They don't want your money if it means they have to pay for manufacturing / shipping / physical product support, but most importantly they don't want to give you the ability to resell it.

But that's also not the same thing as them forcing you to pirate their thing. Jesus Christ man.

Also, you might be interested in something like this:

Nah, if youve really wanted to give them money youd buy the games and if this was truly about disc media you could just ignore the existence of those games, yet you pirate digital software, the thing you claim to not want, youre just trying to justify what youre doing and preach to others, cringiest piracy related thing ive seen since Ubisofts Skull and Bones.

Yes one vendor YOU proposed: GOG.
and who cares if PS5 has one digital vendor? we're talking PHYSICAL here, wake up. I have THOUSANDS of vendors and UNLIMITED second-hand vendors.

It literally will. The game isn't tied to an account or any online shenanigans. You could lend the game over to a friend via USB and nothing would break. Here, as an example, Metro 2033 Redux was recently free on Steam/GoG/Xbox.

you can go to GOG to download...

and look at that!

offline game installers. Then all you'd need to do is download the installers, install the game from those, and then you have a working DRM free copy of the game.

The only way to convince you is if you did it yourself- and you can, because the game is free for the next 1 1/2 days. Just try it out. It's easy as hell.
