Not just a couple clearance games at a random store, but places that put 90% of the store on massive sales? I don't recall that ever happening for pc games. Its bad deal for the pubs/devs, even bad deal for small/indie studios so its not gonna happen, it simply is too much effort for them to make phys copies/boxes for the games instead of selling u licence online, we all know it, u know it too.

It literally will. The game isn't tied to an account or any online shenanigans. You could lend the game over to a friend via USB and nothing would break. Here, as an example, Metro 2033 Redux was recently free on Steam/GoG/Xbox.

you can go to GOG to download...

and look at that!

offline game installers. Then all you'd need to do is download the installers, install the game from those, and then you have a working DRM free copy of the game.

The only way to convince you is if you did it yourself- and you can, because the game is free for the next 1 1/2 days. Just try it out. It's easy as hell.
