Buy a cluster of SSDs/ HDs or whatever shit you will use to store
Install windows in one of your SSD's, install steam/gog and log on your accounts.
Download your entire Steam/GOG library
Properly configure a front-end like Emustation-DE to download the cases, manual etc.
Print and label your media accordingly.

Silent Hill 2 is on GOG. You could download the game, save it on any media you want, and never have to log in again to play it on any computer.

I've been buying console games since the Sega Mega-Drive (Genesis) and PS1 era, and in the current generation, I purchase them for PS5.

PC gaming has undeniable advantages.
For example, only on PC you can truly experience the NEXT-GEN feeling - playing at smooth 120 FPS in 4K resolution.
Add a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio to that, and it's pure ecstasy!
Imagine the leap from 4:3 to 16:9 - going from 16:9 to 21:9 (with 120 fps) is just as revolutionary. THIS IS THE NEW GENERATION.

So why are they forcing me to pirate games?
I want to buy my favorite titles and keep them in my personal collection.
I'm even willing to pay for them despite developers often lacking the basic competence to include such simple features as disabling the HUD, unlocked framerate, or proper ultrawide support in cutscenes (which modders can fix with simple patches).

The way I see it, the advantage of PC games is those that allow you to save the files in multiple places and even play without steam turned on. If ownership is what you want then that is much better than having a DVD or cartridge. if you can have multiple backups it stops the original company just taking it away from you remotely.

So just get a DVD burner already. Or even better a backup hard drive. That is how you preserve them.

On a serious note, yes the option for a digital or physical purchase would be nice, but imagine the horseshit companies would come out with and how much more expensive games would be. In theory, games should've been cheaper going digital, but on console especially, the price has always been disgustingly way too high.

Digital isn't the issue, microtransactions (kinda lost that fight too) and making a hobby / entertainment political and self serving. It can be very exhausting just trying to play a fucking game these past few years.
