Will Ken Levine's Judas ever get released?

It's been in development for 10 years and was officially announced at the end of 2022. It was planned for release by March 2025 according to Take-Two's quarterly earnings report from 2023. We got a story trailer January 2024. Ghost Story Games invited Skill-Up, Ryan McCaffrey of IGN, and Geoff Keighley to the studio for an initial glimpse, where they played Judas for 5 hours in March 2024.

Over a year later, not a single word from Ken Levine or the studio. No updates whatsoever. We're now in the second quarter of the year. Take-Two has Mafia: The Old Country rumoured for an August release, Borderlands 4 scheduled for September, and GTA 6 still rumoured for this year.

So where does Judas fit into T2's schedule for the rest of the year? It clearly doesn't! WTFFFFFFFFFFFF. Someone hold me.

Will Mr. Levine's perfectionism ever allow this game to see the light of day?!

Maybe delayed for 2026 but I don't see it getting delayed to 2027.

Same thing happened to Bioshock Infinite, and it eventually came out. Not exactly as the game that was promised, but it came out. I really don't have high hopes for this, especially considering the timeline of when it started being developed. It's probably full of you-know-what.

I HATE devs announce games when they even haven't start development yet.......announce your games when you actually have something to show.

It has been less than 2.5 years since the game announcement. Who knows what resource Ken Levine used in the last 10? He could have been meditating on it in a remote cave for all we know. If it doesn't come out by 2026, then it may be a concern

Would be funny if ex-Arkane founder Raph Colantonio will somehow release his Immersive Sim RPG before Judas. Especially considering his hiatus after Prey, time to establish new studio and painful search for a publisher.

All while Levin is drowned in yet another vanity project. And this time there is no Rod Fergusson to turn things around.

What exactly? And from my understanding most of the delays to production was Ken actually getting the concept done properly first before actually making the game

The first 5 years were preproduction and R&D with a small team. Still, I'd imagine completely bankrolled by T2. Levine's relationship with T2 seems quite tight and he has spoken highly of them a few times in the past.

Interestingly, Ghost Story Games hired 10-11 former Arkane Austin devs back when that the studio got shut down.

I know games aren't done by one guy and I understand some stuff is far beyond his control, but was there really anything about the second half of Bioshock Infinite that made people think like "oh wait, I need to play more games from this guy"?

It's not like that pool of ImSim devs are that big to begin with. Arkane Austin itself was formed by a Looking Glass/Ion Storm refugees. All more painful to remember what a monster of a team was spent on Redfall.

I'm obviously in a minority with this, but I would much rather have this in 2025 and see GTA6 delayed into next year.
Actually, this is top 3 of my most anticipated games at the moment.

IKR. Everybody seems to only focus on him having worked on Thief and System Shock 2, and seem to ignore how mediocre BioShock Infinite is.

Hopefully, Ken Levine is a creative guy but he just decides to change everything because of the way he is and more or less start again so his games take ages to come out, this happened with Bioshock Infinite and 2K had to force him to release it lol

I loved Bioshock Infinite. It was not the same mindblowing experience as the first Bioshock, but I liked that he did something different. I replayed it last year and had a blast. Story is brilliant.

What concept was that? To be as linear, on the rails and as scaled back as possible?

Ken Levine is the Peter Molyneux of the first person "immersive sim". He no longer has the talent, direction or capacity to make his concepts actually come to life. Which is pretty pathetic when you consider he has fucking Take Two bankrolling it. Devs with less money and less resources have since put his work to shame.

What you should be looking at is Raphael Colantonio's (Former Arkane, Dishonored and Prey) Wolfeye Studios and what they're cooking. That guy is in a completely different stratosphere and one of the most brilliant minds in games today.

What about Bioshock 4 itselt that 2K confirmed but said nothing about it ever since?!

Tbh i didn't like what i saw from Judas at all, the characters were mostly trash, and Levine talked like the idea for the game was something never created in the history of gaming. 🤦‍♂️

Delivers on compromised promises. Bioshock Infinite is a huge step back from the original in many ways. Considering this one seems to be in a similar dev hell as Infinite I'm not expecting much.
I haven't played though all of Infinite in a while. But my memory is that Infinite was pretty amazing but maybe had too much action and not enough exploring compared to the original. But still like a 10/10 game.

Vaporware

Danjin44 Danjin44 Devs haven't learned the lesson of Versus XIII. If it isn't ready within a couple months then don't announce it. Announcing games that take 10 years to make isn't very exciting.

Exactly! It very hard to get excited when the game takes fooooooorever to come out.

Like you said if the game is t ready within couple of month then for love of god don't announce it.

They had to bring in someone (Rod Ferguson) from the outside to make it into a playable product that could span an entire game. And it was 2 years until that was cobbled together into a cohesive game. What a mess
