Had some time to kill so took a punt on this. That dude out of Quantum Break pops up. Yes that's the best bit.

Terrible.

3/10.

Captain 'America' Brave New World.

....and all i came away thinking was, who and why are people still watching this Marvel shit.

3/10

I watched Sinners. While I did enjoy it, it also felt all over the place. I'd say that it is a really good netflix movie. The music was good at times and the vampires were interesting but at the same time made no sense in why they acted the way they did.

Alto Knights - Soprano squires! 2/5

Movie is just an excuse to have De Niro monologue. And he plays 2 characters that are so similar that I thought it was flashbacks of the original character for while. The makeup is awful on the second character he plays. No point for this movie other than someone wanted something to put on their streaming catalogue.

I watched that one recently too. DeNiro playing dual roles really don't add anything to it. It's more of a distraction than anything else.

The Bank Job

Jason Statham has really done this cheap action film thing for a while hasn't he? This film is from 2008, and doesn't feel alien in his current filmography. In this film, based on real heist from 1971, Statham leads a group of thieves and conmen, who somehow get involved in political matters and are used by the government. They think about money, but the government wants other information from the banks deposit box. The film is difficult to follow at the beginning, but get's it's drive going when they begin the heist. Too bad it can't keep it for the last act, that's when the story begins to dwindle again. It's good for one watch if you turn off your brain, but not much more than that.

In the Lost lands - The only thing this land lost was my time. 0/5

The whole film is on green screen and is garbage. The actors know it too.

Lost Voyage (2000)
4/10, Eh. It's kinda a low budget Event Horizon rip-off but it's a cruise ship that went missing in the Bermuda triangle rather than a spaceship. Bland and unscary.

Joker 2.
I don't mind musicals but there wasn't a whole lot of connection between the song choice and the moment. Story wasn't great either but I already had low expectations in that department.

Assassin's Creed

I remember this being talked about being the film that would finally break the curse of videogame movies. That obviously did not happen, and I can see why. The story is basic and predictable, direction confusing and action mediocre. My knowledge of the games is very limited, but I don't think this was directly adapted from a game of the series. More about general ideas or anything. What I really appreciate, is that when scenes take place in 1492 Spain, the characters actually speak Spanish. This doesn't happen all the time.

The end of this movie is wild. Shat my pants eight there.

The scene in the final act where it lingers on a still shot and lets your eyes slowly adjust to the darkness of the shot and then you slowly see…….yeah, when I saw it in theaters, I could hear people, including myself, going, "nope!", "oh shit!", "oh god!", etc. once we saw you-know-what.

God, the Oscars fucked up hard not at least giving Toni Collette a Best Actress nomination (similarly Mia Goth in Pearl got snubbed IMHO). The Oscars don't give horror movies a chance (Silence of the Lambs and Get Out are more thrillers in my eye so that's likely why they were the exception), and they don't give movies released early in the year a chance so sadly this film didn't have a shot at any nominations by their "guidelines". But it's telling that I've seen a good amount of people react to the film for the first time and at least half of them, knowing barely anything about the film beforehand, go, "oh, is this the dinner scene?" when it gets to that part. It's a testament to Toni's acting in this (though the others are great too) that that scene alone got talked enough about to even reach people who knew little to nothing about the film.

I follow the Trash Taste podcast, and their member Garnt couldn't watch anymore after the second funeral of the film. He said, "yeah, that didn't feel like acting; Toni Collette's screaming sounded TOO real for me, I legit got uncomfortable."

Watched Signs. I can't remember the last time I saw it, probably not long after it was first released. Good film . I also watched A Haunting in Venice, which I also enjoyed.

Five Minutes of Heaven

To be honest, I did not have high hopes for this one. This is a small scale indie-film from Ireland, which tells a story of IRA terrorist (Liam Neeson) and a witness (James Nesbitt) who as a kid, watched his brother being shot by Neeson's character. Most of the story takes place 30 years later, when the terrorist has served his time in jail, is ridden by guilt and helps other to prevent such acts of happening again. The story then follows them as they meet and unburden themselves. One way and another. Neeson and Nesbitt carry their character's well, and are a jou to watch. The only thing bringing this one down is the beginning (which is a bit uninteresting) and the end (the film ends suddenly). Other than that, recommended.

The Junkman (1982) - IF you want car crashes and crazy stunts this is that type of movie. It stars the guy that wrote and made the original Gone in 60 seconds. An indy film without much plat, but a whole lot of action. 3/5

Double 0 Kid..... Corey Haim movie that just a goofy kids spy film. Lots of people in it like John Reyes Davis and a few others. Watchable but not good. 2/5

Currently watching this, just got up to the teen rushing his sister to hospital..

What
The
Fuck!

That's messed..

i highly reckon watching the deep dive on the lore paimon, and youll have an even bigger appreiation for the movie, since it gives you nothing unless you know what to look for.
theres so many details right under you nose, it made watching it a second and third time even better

i generally hate horror, but this just hits different

INC INC

Just watched that video you posted.. That's bonkers. It's got to be one of the most thought out films, surely!

I have a feeling some real life Paimon shenanigans went on somewhere down the line for it to be that detailed.. :pie_thinking:

Makes you appreciate the film in a whole new light now

Midsommar

This sequel to 500 Days of Summer covers similar ground, but with more of an optimistic tone about relationships than the original. Thumbs up.

Holy shit, that is some deep thinking right there, and you're completely right. There is actually a thematic parallel. Haha

Went into this blind, was not what I expected, at all. Was expecting a John Wick flick..

What I got was a culinary tale and a sad ending. Probably the strangest film I've seen in years

I liked it. Was totally different in every way possible. I think him looking up at the very end was a big give away to what he was going to do next 🤔

Thats what I like about good old Nic. He churns out what feels like 52 movies a year and they can land anywhere from total shite (Wicker Man) to amazing (Lord of War, Color out of Space) and everything in between.

The man a genius.

I liked Wicker Man :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Sure it wasn't as good as Edward Woodwards, but it was okay shlock.

I do love a bit of old Nic, going to give Mandy and that Color out of Space you said a watch next :messenger_winking:

Mileage may vary on Color Out of Space but thought it was wild. If you liked Wicker Man then we should be good. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Minecraft. i dozed off a lot of times during the movie. when i partially woke up, it was the final battle. I feel bad for the kids, i had to pretend i understood the movie, they seemed pretty excited about it. they kept asking about which part was the best.

or a modern take on the wicker man

some hate this film, i personally like it, its not up there with hereditry, but would still watch multiple times

Above Suspicion. - In a twist of Irony Christopher Reeve play a cop that gets injured and paralyzed. He then has to figure out how to deal with those that betray him. 2/5 Kim Catrell is naked all through this movie, it is a little odd. Like the director had no money for her wardrobe.

Drop
Saw this at the theater with my daughter last night. Ridiculous, but totally entertaining. Perfect Sunday afternoon movie. Daughter loved it.

That's certainly one way of looking at that movie lol.

What's funny is that if in Midsommar if Christian had just broken up with Dani at the start:

Dani would have been still safely home and wouldn't have become mentally broken and in the hands of an insane cult.

Like, her boyfriend Christian gaslights her, talks shit about her frequently behind her back, is dismissive of her understandable breakdown at seeing two elderly people kill themselves (given what her own sister did), and fully intends to cheat on her, yet he won't break up with her after her family tragedy because that would make him look like a douchebag. Deep down, he's a jackass, but he's also a coward who won't even publicly display his true behavior. And this is seen further when he "steals" the thesis topic from Josh (true, Josh doesn't "own" the topic, but among people who should be friends, it's objectively a dick move) as he acts like Josh is being unreasonable by being upset, and then when Josh goes "missing", Christian immediately denies caring about him to the villagers just so he can stay close with the people of the village.

He's a tool but even more he's a coward, and ironically it's his cowardly behavior, under the false behavior of "being considerate towards Dani's emotional state", that seals her doom.

Death of a Unicorn - Thankfully Paul Rudd and the supporting cast go all out. The overall plot is dumb, it is entertaining in a silly way. 3/5
