Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

Damn, did yall see the No Man's Sky video? It honestly looks incredible. 40fps mode in portable.

I'm still so pissed at Nintendo for not supporting VRR in TV mode.

I have two coming in the mail and this is easily the least excited console release I've had in my life since being a console fan. I don't even have any games coming lol

Funny, this is the most excited I've been for a console release since PS2. I've enjoyed other consoles since then, and I was kind of excited for the Switch. However, the Switch 2 reminds me of how excited I was for the jump from NES to SNES.

Nothing suggests lack of interest more than buying the console twice.
I needed a replacement Switch (my son broke mine right before preorder) and I got one for my cousin. There's nothing exciting about this system unless you've been stuck in Nintendo-only land for a long time. There's not even a huge game to launch with. MK isn't a big deal to me. I want to go on adventures.

Alas.... can't run the switch 1 games for now.
Can't really do much with the system for now, not being able to log in and it requiring an update and all.
Maybe it has a built in countdown timer. I hope it does, for people buying it after release sate and not necessarily connecting to the internet straight away. Would be bad to have to connect to the internet for it to be able to play any games, for preservation reasons down the line.

Did you try changing the timer on your unit to see if it works?

DF has a lot of comparison videos to put together. Easy content to mine.

I will buy this and play again to have it portable

I don't think target cares about us guys

Well no Switch 2 for me at launch. My local GS has a laughable additional 25 systems for non preorders for 3:00 and 3 hrs early theres already a line of 15 people.

Im not doing midnight lines elsewhere or camping out at target, etc....because i just dont have the time for it.

Fucking ridiculous....Sucks that Nintendo is artificially creating these situations and not having enough units on launch to create extra demand. Lesson learned on my part too for actually believing theyd have a viable and good system to buy direct from them with their register interest bullshit.

I guess ill just wait a few months and get one then when hopefully this bullshit dies down. Maybe by December ill get my email from them to buy one direct.

Are there any guides on how to do a system transfer from Switch 1 to Switch 2 so that all of your stuff moves over?
And how do you update a game to the NS2 edition? Is it just a patch or a whole separate download?

edit: found it

In my country it'll cost around 652 Euro for the bundle, but with two years warranty. Is it worth the extra cost? or try and buy cheaper in Europe?

If you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online, you might consider ordering directly from My Nintendo Store. They sell Mario Kart bundle for 510€, and even postage costs are free.

That's what I did anyway.

Amazon Europe man, 509€ for the MK one, 469€ for the normal one.

In other news :

720p, I suppose having older games running in native docked mode would be asking too much from Nintendo...

Has anyone played Fast Fusion yet? Any good gameplay vids?! Can't believe no one is talking about it

But that'll include shipping and tax which will add to prob a similar amount. I'll have to think.

This is horrible news. So, S2 will only improve on S1 games with a patch or if it's dynamic res and/or framerate.

I think we've known this for a while now. Switch 1 games running in handheld mode on Switch 2 will still have the same performance as handheld mode on Switch 1. Unless the developer patches the game, or it already supported dynamic resolution or frame rate, it's going to look more or less identical.

Why would an un-updated game get any improvements?

This was always known though and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. This is also how it works with the other consoles as well. Xbox Series and PS5/Pro don't just automatically upgrade things either.

Man, I just watched the video on my 55' LG C2 and...yeah, I'm gonna hold off buying unpatched games, shit looks horrible, and it's not the 30fps only either, it's just that after 5 years of both the XSX and PS5 you just can't go back to these resolutions...

Now, in other more positive news :

Bowser's fury looks fucking pristine, Odyssey...while better looking on the S2, shows it's age (peeps disappearing, boxy environments etc)...

Much cleaner looking but those constant dips to 30fps due to the double Vsync...yeah

For those waiting to play the Xenoblade games etc...i think it'd be better until we get some official confirmation that they'll receive a patch.

The 30fps dips are unacceptable.

Odyssey looks better but there are issues with filtering.

Is it because being negative is easy that you never seem positive?

Like when you go for a job interview and they ask what your weaknesses are?
I don't work mate. I only play games and jerk off in my bed.

Serious: I am positive when I am positive. MKW looks nice.

Dude, it's been like this for most console releases for several generations at this point. This isn't a Nintendo issue or a surprise.

My copy of DQIII remastered came in today for Switch. I still remember my run on the GBA.
Loved the twist at the end.
it's a prequel to DQ I and II!!! Omg

Slept in and didn't pre-order but am going to Target at opening tomorrow: how early should I get there? Will 30 minutes be enough or am I going to be overwhelmed by unwashed scalpers?

I'm not sure what you expected? That's 25 systems on top of the preorders which also had people camping out hours ahead of time. Now multiply that by what? 2500 stores or something like that? Plus depending on your location your store could have much less then others.\

It's 2025. Preorders for everything sell out online in 30 seconds and it's been that way for years. Nintendo isn't immune.

Good luck to everyone tonight and tomorrow securing their consoles! I've stated before I don't intend on getting the Switch 2 for a while, but considering I work midnight shift it'll be fun to drive past some stores on my way in and see how the crowds are. Looking forward to impressions!

For those of you with a Walmart preorder, check your status. They started to process mine, bank charge is holding and it's now in "preparing" stage with delivery tomorrow.

The scalpers aren't really getting much for Switch 2 so I don't think this one will be a huge issue to get.

I've found from past experiences that you have to get there at least 2-3 hours before open.
Yeah that's what I'm worried about I live in the SF Bay Area so there's a pretty good Target to population ratio where I live so maybe I'll just try my luck at a less popular Target.

I ended up grabbing a $50 eShop card (Suikoden is 1440/60 and 1080/60 so I'm gonna grab it while it still has a discount) at Costco and a screen protector and case from Amazon.

The case specifically called out smell free so I'm expecting this thing to smell like shit when it gets here tomorrow lol.
