Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

Finally back home with all my spoils of the evening :messenger_sunglasses:

I still don't know if I should do a system transfer or not >_< I got too much stuff i'd still like to access on the Switch 1, and not enough storage on Switch 2 to accomodate it all.
 
The stock situation is crazy (in a good way). There were well over over 100 people in the non pre order line at my Best Buy and everyone by midnight received a ticket to get a console and they had plenty to spare. I think the hype alone is going to clear out any remaining initial stock just because it's in so many hands at launch.

All my switch 1 stuff is still there. It makes a copy of it.
 
Finally back and got my shit! OH MAN ITS GONNA BE AN ALL NIGHTER!

Ok back to reality though, Gamestop was a nightmare. I showed up at midnight on the dot and there was a HUGE ass gathering outside. I know we had like 60 preorders and then 60 'TODAY preorders'. I was one of the today preorders and was at Gamestop at 10am this morning and got one easy. In any case, the huge gathering was so uncordinated. The manager was there all day and I praise her for that and she was great dealing with everyone and running the tournaments etc but she really forgot to form the lines and stuff and that would have made this go SO much easier. Instead we had a giant clump of 100+ people pushing their way to the front when we all had blue and red numbered tags from 1-60. Form 2 lines, one blue and one red, in order. BOOM DONE! It would have been so easy. Instead they just let people in slowly from the front to the back and let about 10-15 people in at a time and once someone left they let someone new in until it was all done. I was out by about 12:30am so whatever, I'm just glad its over with. I really forgot how much better life is when you just simply PREORDER the damn thing. Fuck pre-ordering games but brand-new consoles? SO WORTH IT.

They had all of the bundles behind the counter all setup with everyone's number and had all of the games/items they bought also attached with rubber bands, so it really was super fast once you got inside and handed them your receipt. I didn't realize until I was in the car, but they made a mistake and gave me a copy of BOTW for Switch 2 when I cancelled it earlier today and bought a used Switch copy instead since it was way cheaper that way. I guess whoever put together the package saw the BOTW and ToTK for Switch 2 on the receipt and just put it all together. In any case, it was a huge clusterF and was already in the car when I noticed so I did not go back. I'm not even going to use it b/c I already bought the Switch 1 cartridge and the $9.99 update code so I'm all set. It is nice having the Switch 2 cases match though :)

BIG CREDIT to Nintendo: This is how you do launch day services for your console! Just picked up my stuff and:

  • Sign-in via QR code worked perfect
  • Flawless transfer from my OLED Switch
  • Accepted MKW voucher, immediately started download
  • Went to buy TOTK Upgrade, recognized my NSO xpac membership and said "hey you can download this for free"
  • Everything just works? eshop feels so snappy now
 
There have been a lot of people complaining about the switch 2 box art, but honestly, I'm not hating them. I also kinda like how the spines look all together. It'll livin' up my all red Switch 1 shelf finally.

Nice haul... I only wish I had that ammount of time to play videogames.

First impressions:
-Sleek, deluxe feel. Makes the Switch v2 seem like a toy
-JoyCons are more comfortable
-No way the "mouse" function will be anything worthwhile. Feels corny
-Screen is great. No light leak
-Camera is way smaller than I expected
-Pro controller is awesome

Expected delivery in 3 hours. Hows the thumbsticks on the new joycons? It was pretty dogshit on switch 1. Also those lines sheesh. This will sell like crazy

Give me impressions on Hitman when you can. If you have it on any other console also let me know so you can compare it to that. It would be cool to know how much space it takes up and how it looks and runs! Thanks <3
 
Good to wake up to a new Nintendo console. Doesn't happen very often.

What a fantastic week in videogames. SOP last night was great. SGF & the Xbox thing to come.

Happy days.

Yea I had a feeling the mouse thing was going to be a gimmick. It's NEAT that it's there but I don't think its going to be anything other handhelds pick up.

when i get around to it, i'll try to remember. doing a lot of downloading now, and trying to figure out why hdr works on some inputs but not others lol

i have played it on PC, and PS4/PS5 before, so I should be able to say if it runs good or not.
 
Has anyone got BotW on cart? Can you see what happens when you install the expansion pack - does it download the entire sw2 version internally?
 
Can anybody confirm if the Switch 2 pro controller works with the original Switch? I want to buy one but don't have a Switch 2 yet so figured I'd be using it on my Switch OLED in docked mode.

Morning bros. Got my tent set up by the front door in waifing for the DPD guy.

Got to go collect MK2 and the wheel controllers from Argos once the console is delivered. Then hitting KFC on the way back and we eatin good today.

The screen is better than the OG one but no, contrast wise and black levels I do not buy one second that it is better than the OLED model. We can cope with "but HDR, but 120 Hz VRR, but higher res" all we want. Those are advantages, no doubt about it, but the rest in the video was just cope.

You will be completely doing a full 180° the second they show Switch 2 OLED in a few years, so we might just cut the astroturfing like cope and say "not stopping us from buying Switch 2, but will upgrade to the OLED model in a hurry as soon as it is announced". That is what I am doing, it feels more intellectually honest.

I wasn't able to connect it to my nephew's Switch V2. OG wireless controllers connected fine.
