Damaged switch 2 screens

How would staples puncture the screen? The handheld is that close to the box without protective cover all around it (like styrofoam)?

Never the less, cant expect brainiacs working at GS. Why anyone would staple a receipt onto a box ruining it who the hell knows.

This incident reminded me of the dumbass grocery clerk who checked out my Mothers Day cake 10 or so years ago. The bakery person put the sticker UPC on the side of the box instead of the bottom. So what does the cashier do? To scan the code she turns the cake like 45 degrees messing up the cake a bit. Even the lady next in line called her out being a dumb ass. And the cashier didnt give a shit at all. Blank stare. I was in a rush to get to the dinner and the cake looked good enough so I just drove to dinner (my mom isnt picky about stuff like that).

Never trust a store clerk or cashier to have any brain cells or give a shit.

One of the only times I ever called CSR to complain. Got I think a $20 gift card.

Yes, the cardboard is pretty thin, and the sensitive side of the tablet has the screen pressed right up against it. A staple through the box could easily do this.

They didn't pay nintendo 40 dollars for the upgraded packaging that uses better packaging materials, so this is the result of there cheapness and lack of loyalty to the nintendo brand.

I would be both heartbroken and filled with fucking rage if something like this happened to me. Spend a good chunk of money and build up all that anticipation just for some slug brained cousin fucker to fuck up the screen. I can understand if they are numb from working a job with no satisfaction or a living wage, but come on.

Reminds me of that school somewhere in America trying to promote safe sex and they fucking stapled the condoms to the notice board....

Wha? staples receipts to the box? I don't think I've ever had that done on any item I've ever bought.
Do you want it in the bag? No just staple it to the box.

This is on gamestop and nintendo tbh. Gamestop for having employees doing this type of crap, but also nintendo for packaging this thing like it's a 5 dollar gift you bought from the drug store. For a 450 dollar console, how about packaging this thing correctly and protecting the product instead of being cheap with the packaging materials.

Typical Nintendo cutting costs even in packaging. Got mine today and as soon as u open the damn box the switch is there with the screen side up, so not surprised, could have been atleast packaged in the middle or back of the box instead of the very front.

It's right under the 1-2mm box top lid, sitting faceup in some thin plastic wrap.

For comparison, this is how Steam Deck ships. Inside a hard protective case that comes with the system:

Geez. That's Nintendo always cheaping out as much as possible. But good for them having an ultra loyal fan base buying last gen systems and first party games at full pop.

The small Ikea table I bought a week ago had more protective packing inside. The inner broadsides of the cardboard box had an additional sheet of cardboard top and bottom. It was $9.99.

Astonishingly and unbelievably stupid packaging on Nintendo's part. Not only putting the console at the face edge of the package, but facing the fucking screen to it. How could such a dumbass design even make it past the third string intern on staff.

GameStop is always overly handsy with my stuff. I've bought "new" games they pulled out of a paper game case and put into the original case. I want my shit mint and sealed so no GameStop for me.

lets be honest here, this is a really shitty packaging from Nintendo, who charge people to pay for welcome tour.

I think it's a nothing burger. Let's say they turned it around. You good with holes in the plastic on the back? Nah. No nail holes in my console box.

How bout don't put nails thru the case and there are no issues. I suspect many cell phones and tablets are packaged similarly. Iirc my latest iPad was in the same orientation, but I'm not 100 percent sure.

It's a burger alright...Nintendo using packaging you see on a fucking big mac for their 450 dollar console. Embarassing no matter how you look at it. How cheap can you fucking be as a company?!

Damn sucks for those who had this happen.

Makes me worried about these things getting damaged in transit being thrown around and having shit stacked on top of them if the packaged is that thin.
Why did they even have to do that at all? That's a real bummer for those affected.

EDIT: That packaging is just *asking* for damage, though. WTH, seriously.

Can't you guys understand that Nintendo doesn't sell at a loss? If they added foam in their packaging or use cardboard that is not paper thin, that would eat into their profits!!!!

Regardless of shit packaging, I'd punch the shitstain who stapled my box right in the face, damaged screen or not. The box is a part of the product I pay for and those employees are straight up damaging purchased goods even if the screen didn't get touched.

Is it too much to just hand someone their receipt or is that just too much human interaction in the year of 2025?

Yes, let's let the morons who stapled receipts to a $500 cardboard box off the hook. 😂

Ffs this place sometimes 🤦‍♂️

Dude ffs it's the fault of everyone involved. And plenty of people in the topic are calling out the employee, but the correct response is to call out everyone involved.

Nintendo is at fault for packaging a $400+ touchscreen product in flimsy cardboard with the screen exposed.
GameStop is at fault for requiring whatever nonsensical receipt or paid sticker or whatever to be attached to a box. (See their notoriously goopy price stickers on game cases for further.)
GameStop Employee is at fault for using a stapler to attach said nonsensical receipt or paid stick to the box.

You are so quick to attack just the employee and then, well, this entire site. It reads like you're trying to let a certain corporation off the hook...

In fairness phone boxes are like this now too. Would probably mess those up if you stapled something to it.

Not at all, even without the charger they rebate the cut out for the phone and the screen is always face down with the back towards the user.

Nintendo just need to flip the device over for some sort of common sense.

I love how a $100B net worth global corporation that is over 100 years old packages their $400+ dollar touchscreen device in flimsy cardboard, yet I will go to the supermarket right now and buy anything off of the As Seen On TV shelf and to get through that plastic package it will require MacGyver with a toilet paper roll, a corkscrew and some tinfoil.

I'm pretty sure my S25 Ultra had the screen facing up but I could be remembering wrong. In any case I don't think stapling the camera lens is any better if somebody wanted to attach a receipt to the box.

Most premium devices are packaged face up, to give a specific unboxing experience. Stapling receipts to the front seems hilariously stupid.

Could you imagine if Nintendo flipped them over and the staples then punctured the batteries instead causing fires, and then had to issue an emergency recall on all units? Oh man.
