World's Strongest Handheld Laser

I wonder what a multi-million dollars corporation can make if they want to dig into this kinda things? and of course, what kinda damage are we talking about when it's used on living beings?

It is terrifying the kind of shit you can buy online and build something like this. With that said, the DoD is probably drafting up his contract now.

I have been following Styropyro for a while now and hes among the best of the science youtubers. Genuinely passionate, brilliant, and funny. Happy to see him get posted here.

This gives me an idea :pie_thinking:

Handheld lasers are of limited military use. Firstly the power drops off with range quite fast due to things like atmospheric scattering and thermal blooming, secondly the battery life is not exactly the greatest, thirdly a gun is deadlier, cheaper, and far easier to repair.

All that being said, it is very cool.

I think navy also has laser guns that destroy drones - and Japan developed powerful enough one that destroys drones almost instantly.

Kinda scary. Yes, laser guns or something like beam rifles in Gundam series (albeit it's technically a plasma gun, different from laser)... perhaps future body armors or drones will be entirely made from shiny mirror?

Oh thanks for posting this. I saw this on my feed and meant to watch it later, but totally forgot about it. I'll watch this during lunch today.

I want this shit on my car so I can blind some motherfuckers who think it's a good idea to just drive around with full beam all the time.

I imagine a laser like this is extemely effective agaisn't unprotected targets, imagine someone showing up at a riot with this thing, he could just blind everyone permanently.

You will need something like this for the future drone wars.
I wonder how effective it would be.

Drones are small and can move pretty quick so the limitation would be in how fast the system can physically track a single drone before it could kamikaze an explosive into the laser or the power grid supporting it.

You would need a spectrum of lasers that can grid out the drones.
