This is advice from when nickel-based batteries were still a thing. Draining the battery to zero several times like that only shortens the battery life of a lithium-ion cell.Or try this:
Battery tip from Nintendo Prime: Retrain the battery to improve battery life due to the possibility it has been sitting in a warehouse for ~6 months. Turn off the 90% battery limit setting if you have it on. Play until the S2 completely dies. Charge up to 100%. Do that a few more times. And now you should be getting the rated battery hours of the S2.
So they did! For some reason I thought the original Switch was 5220 mAh. Looks like they increased battery capacity of the Switch 2 would match the battery life of the original Switch 1 launch model. They increased the capacity from 4310 mAh to 5220 mAh.
Oh not in handheld mode, docked is when it gets hot.No, but I have grips on mine so I'm not touching it directly.

That it won't work is perhaps not correct. IT's more complicated than just the battery. There's the electronics and what they think the battery life is.This is advice from when nickel-based batteries were still a thing. I haven't played Rune Factory (yet) but just recently finished Fantasy Life, and really enjoyed it. The story and characters are cutesy and whimsical, but the grind is the real meat and potatoes of the game.Help me decide - Rune Factory or Fantasy Life
Playing original version of Wind Waker with a Gamecube controller has taken some brain re-training but damn is it ever still a good game (once you're past Forsaken Fortress).
Peak nostalgia playing with a real GC controller too, I haven't played anything with a Gamecube controller in probably 20 years. F-Zero GX kicks ass with those shoulder buttons too. Gamecube on NSO is the real underdog of Switch 2 launch, especially if you got the controller.
In my opinion Fantasy Life, it has that Level 5's charming artsyle and it very heartwarming fun.....honestly perfect game for Switch 2.Help me decide - Rune Factory or Fantasy Life
Another possibility:Battery life :
It averages at almost 2 and a half hours with CB2077...
...what I really find unacceptable though, is the fact that the ROG ally only manages about 1 hour and somethin' minutes, how are these systems considered to be "portable" ?
The SD appears to be better but, battery life is the biggest problem with portables.
I recall sending back my Game Cube controller cause I thought it was broken, as the C stick was inverted while playing Wind Waker on my ex's WiiPlaying original version of Wind Waker with a Gamecube controller has taken some brain re-training but damn is it ever still a good game (once you're past Forsaken Fortress).

I dunno man, my battery life is shit and I didn't even do a system transfer.Another possibility:
"For the first couple of days my console was downloading all my Switch 1 games (around 250 GB) while asleep or in use. This drained the battery significantly.I wonder how many people simply don't realize that this is going on in the background if you've transferred your account."
Brain retraining indeed. The controls are a nightmare. There's no in-game options to change things and the Switch 2's mapping changes don't do much to fix the problem. They oddly make things worse.
It's so stupid.
- Controls are mapped so the camera's up/down are zoom in and zoom out. This is a non-issue. It's weird, but that's it.
- Controls for spinning the camera left and right, however, are flipped. Right spins the camera left and left spins the camera right. Sure, you can force the mapping to correct this via the Switch 2's menu, but that change isn't contextual. So, later, when you want to conduct using the Wind Waker, the left and right will end up swapped as well. This is because the Wind Waker conducting is mapped to the C-Stick. LOL.
- Aiming controls are also a problem. They are mapped exclusively to the left stick. They are old-school, so up is down and down is up. This is fine for me, but I know it's an issue for 2 out of 3 gamers in my household. Again, the mapping can be changed in the Switch 2's menu, but that won't be a contextual change, so flipping the y-axis for the left-stick aiming will also change the direction that Link walks.
Nintendo, just port HD Remaster.

I'd be curious to see how the roughest performing Switch games fare on the Switch 2. Mudrunner 1 for example. It looked like a PS1 game on the Switch 1.Just checked out a few more games....the Emulation on this console is AMAZING. Basically, if it's a Switch 1 game with uncapped frames and dynamic resolution it will run at max frames/resolution flawlessly.
Games that once had issues now look clean and run like butter. To say it's impressive is an understatement.
Edit: And of course load times are vastly improved across the board.
You know what's the worst thing in all of this ? that the charging itself (via the Dock) takes more time than the actual play/screen time.
When you have a portable that lasts 2 hours and somethin' max but the charging takes almost triple than that...yeah, we have a problem.
Why would the dock cause it to charge slower?Mind you, when charging it via the USB port (i.e, not via the Dock ) it takes about 3 hours.
I've got a package arriving Wednesday. I ordered one of those, so I hope that's what's coming.
This is basically the "charge 100% then drain to 0%, rinse and repeat 2-3 times" fix that I posted above.Battery Life Info Possible Fix via Nintendo:

so....multiplayer gaming? It's like when Apple announced the revolution in adding USB C connections to their iphonesPlaying Mario Kart World seamlessly with my family across the country was mind-blowingly easy. Nobody needed headsets, individual profiles, or endless accounts. It was so easy to jump in and talk with my niece and nephew completely naturally. Being able to go on camera was the icing on the cake. They really cooked with this feature.
I feel like gaming headset companies, especially ones who make products for Nintendo, are going to have a rough time.
I've been playing a lot of BOTW and the battery life seems... great? Anyone else getting that?
he's talking about GameChat, which is new. I haven't tried it yet but it's nice that there's an ease of use to it. For Nintendo, it's kind of a big deal because they've been so afraid of people behaving badly/bullying/trolling to have social features like this.so....multiplayer gaming? Yeah I'm really missing my Hori Split Paddamn. we can't get some decent third party joycons soon enough.
I paused my Bayo 3 playthrough on Switch 1 because the framerate annoyed me.
now on Switch 2 the performance is flawless, but if I wanna play it in handheld mode I have to use the awful sticks of the joyconsand the lack of any ergonomics tire my hands in less than 30min.
I was used to my third party joycons with proper sticks and proper handles.
come on chinese manufacturers! move your butts! I meed some proper controllers ASAP!
Yeah I'm really missing my Hori Split Pad
Nintendo: "How can we force people to buy almost the same controller again when people upgrade from Switch 1 to 2? How about we make it so the old controller doesn't turn the new console on???? DIABOLICALLY BRILLIANT!!!!"Can't believe they made the switch pro controller not wake the switch 2everything else works perfectly fine.
Perfectly good pad and I need to get up to turn on my console(first world problem)

Anybody buy a case they are satisfied with? I've got a international flight in a couple of weeks and I want to take my Switch 2 with me. Seems like the official case is sold out everywhere.
It'll be much more tempting for me as well when Donkey Kong releases. Was at target randomly for other stuff. And saw like five Switch 2s just sitting there. So tempted to just grab one, but I don't need it right now at all

Just make sure you don't spoil yourself with certain locations. I think there's an option to prevent spoilers. If you care about stuff like thatI'm loving my first playthrough of TOTK using that Zelda Notes app. The GPS comes in handy.
Still not sure about it as it takes the S2 out of it's included dock when docking.
Does your 8BitDo controller turn on the Switch 2, or is that function only reserved for the Pro Controller 2?PSA :
1) Don't bother spending money for switch 2 thumbgrips, I had a set left for my dualsense and...the fit is GOOD, not super-tight but good.
2) Just finished a game sess using the 8bit do Ultimate 2C and...how the HELL is this possible ? This thing is A) super comfortable, B) while not HD rumble® compatible, the vibration on this thing is Godly, STRONG but SMOOTH at the same time but most importantly, it doesn't feel cheap and it's also quiet, I shit you not, I've had XSX controllers which behaved worse than this when it came to the vibration/rumble, C) Has gyro and D) it has HAL effect sticks for crying out loud !
And the best part ? It cost me 28€ !
In a world of overpriced plastic shite this thing seems like an anomaly, IMO, there's absolutely no need either for the Ultimate 2, nor for the 90€ Pro 2 official Nintendo One.

Not sure if it's the same, but I had this happen on one of my Switch 1 consoles. Even when undocked and unplugged, the battery life indicator was "stuck" at 53%, and it showed the console charging. Even powering it fully down, leaving it off for a while, and booting back up I'd get the charging indicator and 53% juice. How can one even tell if the battery life indicator is not displaying correctly?![]()
I got two different clear Amazon ones that I am returning because of this.Looks like fitting in the dock with a cover of any kind is an issue with Swtich 2. The one I currently have from Amazon is pretty thin and it still doesn't fit very well. At times Switch 2 isn't making a good connection with the dock. Skull and Company might be the best option overall, but it is sold out until July last I checked.

Was a similar fix - I had to fully discharge the battery then recharge it several times before it became unstuck.
I wish 3rd parties would make bigger battery replacements like they did back in the PSP days instead of relying on power banks.
