Something I noticed :
On the PS5, when switching from "auto" to "limited" or "full", the screen/display goes blank/black for 2 seconds as to set the imposed range, on the S2 though...NOTHING, the display/TV stays as it is with no change whatsoever/without going black.

There's definitely something going on with the setting since besides this, the apparent mismatch should cause black crush and yet, not only doesn't do that but actually improves the image.

I'm actually curious on how sites/tech YouTubers haven't caught on this yet...

I'm also surprised by the non-mention of the issue either - surely this affects other TV models/manufacturers as well. Thankfully that was indeed the fix! I had to tweak the black stabilizer / black level just a bit on the LG side, but other than that all good now!

So just spent most of the day playing my Switch 2 for the first time. Did all cups in MKW on 100CC and some free roam, it's a bonkers good Mario Kart game I don't know what people who don't agree on that is smoking, and the game looks fantastic in handheld mode - it's a good LCD panel for sure.

Other than that I played about 2 hours of Wind waker using the GC controller and man it's been such a treat. I also agree with those who says the device feels way more premium than the OG Switch ever did. I tried handheld for a bit and yeah the battery is not as good as the revisioned Switch 1 for sure (which is the one I got) though I only played MKW in handheld and that is probably quite the power hog.

It's certainly a worthy successor to the Switch 1 - which I have now packed away in its original box and put for storage.

So far I love everything about this console, except my old Pro controller can't wake it from sleep mode. No idea why.

It's compatible, but not made for it, hence the difference I believe. Like you couldn't do anything with a GameCube controller on a Wii

Same thing happens to me, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm using a US account but not from US btw, maybe that's the issue. What's funny is the inconsistency.

I THINK I got a solution also for that :
The PayPal account has to match your consoles account, meaning, if you create a US PayPal account you should be good to go with your US Nintendo account.

Had the same problems a couple of years ago (not with Nintendo) and that fixed it, give it a try

I went into my tv setting and changed it to Limited and Wow!!! The Switch 2 is now super clear and awesome and how it should be. If i change switch 2 to limited to match the tv setting, it gets washed out again.

I was watching some videos by Vincent from hdtvtest and I basically turned off my HDR tone mapping on my A90J, then I went through the Switch 2 calibrations and then turned on Gradation Preferred tone mapping.

"finished" BOTW and now onto TOTK, but gotta say TOTK is nowhere near 1440p, its much closed to 1080p. Nintendo need to remove the dynamic FSR it has too, as its extremely jarring having every cutscene render at the lowest resolution then make its way up. But they couldn't even be arsed upscaling the home menu from 1080p, so chances of this happening are low.

I was saying this in other forums where I was being told it was 4k and looked amazing. Yeah it looks better, but to me I'm not even sure it's as good as 1440p, at least the AA isn't doing enough.

If anyone is curious I tried 8bitdo wireless adapter to connect ps5 and xbox controller to switch 2 and it works perfectly, PS5 controller has even the motion controls.

Think this is a keeper. Really makes holding the Switch 2 much more comfortable. Kick stand has full functionality. Fits in the dock perfectly. Only negative is you pretty much have to take the Switch 2 out of the grip entirely if you want to use the joycons separately. Doubt it will be that big of a deal as I rarely play that way.

Good to see it's as good on Switch 2 as PC, PS5, and Xbox. HDR on the Switch 2 seems fine as long as you figure out the settings appropriate for your TV and the game has implemented it correctly

I had one when I had a Switch OLED a few years ago. Seems pretty much like I remember. But if folks are saying it is a downgrade who owned the previous more recently then sure. I know this is by far the best one I've tried so far without having to dish out $60 for dbrand.

There's one YouTube video out there from a kick ass store saying that. I'm not happy with my unit also but it will get better. But I will NOT pay retain prices for what Nintendo wants for games as it is a rip off. I'm perfectly happy playing old games that look better.

I'm ashamed to say I still haven't played any of the 3D Metroid games. I got it reccomended here a while ago, still waiting for the remake to pop up used at a decent price. Do you play them with the joy-cons de-attached?

Last Metroid game I played was on Wii so we are in the same boat it seems. I'm looking forward to trying out the joycons as mice thing though. Lots of folks say it works really well

Yeah, seems like most people praise it. But it seems a bit thin/wobbly for extended play sessions, at least for me...not excactly a teen anymore.

Still no luck with being able to get one online. Sadly I think DK Bananza will only make it even harder to get a Switch 2. Fucking Nintendo and their making great first party games ways!!!

I noticed the Switch 2 page on their site is gone. Like just nothing on it, nuked. I wonder if they got a lot of complaints, and the quickest way to solve the problem on a technical level was to stop people from ordering it.

Although they added control options to the Prime 1 remake. This is a GC game and didn't have any of the stuff that actually used motion control in 3. Really the game was designed around a gamepad, with motion added to bring it up to speed with 3, so it's just preference really.

Nintendo would have an interesting task making Prime 3 playable in portable mode.

They've sold millions, these videos always comes up when we talk about such numbers. "Lots" in this regard is probably really miniscule compared to the whole install base. There's no obvious big hardware defects with the devices so I don't see any reason for a high return rate.

I mean, their games look vibrant and are a joy to play but...80 Eurodollars for a Donkey Kong game and almost 90 for Mario kart ? LMAO, Sorry, but games with a much smaller budget compared to other AAA out there due to the lack of production values (voice acting, mo-cap etc) shouldn't cost as much, I could understand spending 70-80 for, say, Death Stranding, a Red dead game, a GTA, a Naughty Dog game or a Capcom one since the production values are always stellar (and do drive up the production cost) but 80+ for Mario, Donkey Kong or a Kirby ? absolutely not...Then you have to take into account that even 6-7 year old games are still at full price at most retailers (BOTW is 70 LOL) and...I don't see me playing many of their exclusives in the end since I never found their games to be THAT special anyway.

This thing is an Indies/arcade/roguelike machine for me ATM and it's nice to be able to have some game time while smoking a cig on the balcony but, I could have gotten a Steam deck in the end which would have served me just as well - if not better - not to mention, everything would have been cheaper.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the console and I don't have buyer's remorse, it's just that I didn't have any expectations whatsoever going in (got it as a living room gaming machine, my PS5 Pro will remain in my man-cave alongside my LG C2 and 3.1.1 soundbar) as to be actually dissapointed.

Those Nintendo game prices though ? they can go feck themselves
