Xbox is reportedly a very good brand to work for and have been in gaming for nearly 30 years and have never known anyone to leave willingly. That may be because they have very few openings, but I don't know.

One thing I can tell you is that even though Xbox maybe a great brand to work for, it is still the gaming industry and the same industry isn't for everybody. Given their business model , I would imagine PR jobs aren't plentiful, so they most likely have mostly customer service jobs open. This means you work when customers are cooing, which is when they are not settled down. Count on working primarily evenings and weekends.

Also dealing with the public - in my experience over 99% of Xbox customers range from tolerable to wonderful, the few that are less than tolerable can be quite taxing to those who are not suited for the job. Don't think being a GAF member prepared someone for that. I have talked to a number of GAF members and not all are cut out for Xbox, though they may not be cut out for posting either.

A couple of years... well, maybe like a decade now I would have killed to work on them.

Now I just wouldnt, nothing they do align with anything I like or value.

Are they still doing the Ballmer thing where the bottom 10% performers are fired? That was toxic af but I don't know if that policy ever reached Xbox.

In any case no: I have friends in the industry and I prefer the way more relaxed world of B2B. Yeah, what we do isn't exciting but I'm not the one working 96 hours per week.

Edit: so to clarify, I wouldn't work in any company of the video games industry.

Sure. All you do is implement what Satia wants and be terrible at getting results gamers want. Easy peasey. You get cloud! You get subscriptions! You get copilot!

My old highschool friend started his first job making Xbox games. I think he does IT support in a company now.

A big deal is finding out if it is a leadership position or you are just a contractor; if you are a contractor they will deliberately fire you and then rehire you repeatedly, just to save salaries. Leadership position means you will fall upwards if you fail.

Yes because i know that even if i fail at my job and suck that they won't fire me and actually they'll probably promote me just like they promoted phil spencer, matt booty, etc. Sounds phenomenal.

I mean - if the money and position was right, sure. It's a job and income, I'm not ideologically prohibited, if that's what you're asking.

Is it likely? I don't believe so, I'm nowhere near Washington or wherever they are.

I wouldn't want to work in gaming period with how it is these days to be honest. Happy with my career and the quality of life I am at now and its pay, even if I now have the joys of dad sleep mode lol.

Responsibilities now are far more important than that once youthful dream when things use to be cool before how things have changed that side in all of gaming dev. Would be worst off.

Yes but only because I'd likely get paid more than my dead end job at wally world

(I was also on good terms with the MSFT reps that were at the msft store at the MoA. I used to draw comics for them and they gave me an xbox one x for free)

Who works for xbox that deals with the public? Most of the CS is AI.

A few moronic tweets or responding to retards on reddit every now and again is not. People working in MacDonalds deal with the public.
