Pretty bold take from snippets of gameplay.seems to be a "great experience first time, horrible for replay value" type of game.
I'm REALLY liking the third person camera here.....I'm HYPED!If it's more horror and less action i might ended up playing in FPV most of the time. Here:

Because at this point Leon way too experienced which you can't make proper horror game which kinda turns in to action game rather that horror like what happened with RE6....heck even with RE4.If theres no Leon this seems like a big mistake to me. Going back to raccoon city with Leon revisiting it after all he's been through would be a bitter sweet surreal moment. This just sells itself. You go back to the rpd and raccoon city it's gotta be Leon there. How do you not.
Looks like another "first person horror game with pitch black levels" that used to be released every week on Steam.
Capcom is 10 years old late to the trend.
Yup which is why I hate replaying Village cause of the monster baby part not because it's scary but it's annoying to replay it. Plus the intro of RE7 with unskippable cutscenes and no combat. Resident Evil should be more about a mix of combat and horror. I replayed Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 2 Remake the most out of every Resident Evil game cause it has enough action with enough horror mixed in. Sure the Sherry part was annoying but at least they are short compared to the Village baby house puzzle section and I also play Leon's side a lot more than Claires anyway.seems to be a "great experience first time, horrible for replay value" type of game.
Don't hold your breath, it's the same director of RE7. I remember back in 2016 he did an interview saying that "gameplay doesn't matter in Resident Evil", it's all about the "immersion" or something.Yup which is why I hate replaying Village cause of the monster baby part not because it's scary but it's annoying to replay it. Although I hope the pure horror as in no weapons and only hiding section is short in RE9 with most of the game being more like RE2/RE2 Remake for the perfect balance, not too horror and not too actiony.

Sister can be locacted at?
yep. same reason they've kept chris on a short leash in the last 2 games...Because at this point Leon way too experienced which you can't make proper horror game which kinda turns in to action game rather that horror like what happened with RE6....heck even with RE4.

So true, I replayed Resident Evil 2 remake so many times and I find the original games very replayable. I can't imagine replaying Resident Evil VII in the same way at any degree of similar frequency.Yup which is why I hate replaying Village cause of the monster baby part not because it's scary but it's annoying to replay it. well, if the raccoon city incident happened in 1998, then they are old, eh? 30 years later is only 2 years out from next year...If this doesnt support VR I will be sad. Surprised the set the timeline to 30 years later, even 20 years would be a decent jump. All the OG chars are kind of old by then.

For real. The fans want Leon.Since this is 30 years later that would make Leon 51. Would be interesting to see a more rugged older Leon.

Yeah I think he's in the game in some form. They been careful with not giving too much about the game. And with name dropping him in the interview it basically gets people talking. Might of just been another troll job to talk about him not being a fit for horror and than he shows up when you least expect it.They name dropped him in the video that he can't be the main character in a game where someone has to be scared every now and then.
He's most definitely a secondary character ala Chris in RE Village. You don't just namedrop Leon out of thin air for no reason. They could have said any other character.
I thought about that too , having Leon there would be a big change of pace ! Hopefully you are rightLmao does anybody here actually buy that Leon isn't in the game?
For one, they didn't actually ever confirm that he isn't playable. They just spoke around it and stated he doesn't work with horror. He does, however, work with the "overcoming your fears" part of their goals. IMO it makes sense that Grace will have the pure horror sections while Leon has the more action focused campaign. She'll introduce and escape threats, he'll actually end them. Otherwise, there was no reason to specifically mention Leon.
Second, they've already confirmed that there's a second playable legacy character who has an arsenal of weapons. That already flies in the face of any thought to the contrary. If anything, their "We wanted Leon as protag" comment basically confirms who that second character is, because it doesn't make sense to say you can't use Leon because he's too capable, and they feature Chris or Jill instead when they're functionally the same as the protagonist you actually want to use.
Third, they've shown they aren't above a bit of trolling and misdirection with comments with the way they handled the original reveal. IMO this is just that.
Same here. Honestly, I don't give a fuck that Leon is experienced and somehow can't experience horror/be scared. It's not that hard to write around such a thing. I'm sure this new character is fine, but I really don't give a shit if she's scared on screen. The whole point is that the player is freaked out by what's being presented/hinted in the location.I wish capcom would just put the fries in the bag ie give us 3rd person camera Leon Kennedy resident evil back in raccoon city.
I don't want to play as a scared girl, I don't care that Leon won't be scared because I will be scared for him.
I'll play resident evil 9 but I already know it's not what I want.
Now it all makes sense!Don't hold your breath, it's the same director of RE7. I remember back in 2016 he did an interview saying that "gameplay doesn't matter in Resident Evil", it's all about the "immersion" or something.
agreed. hey, we all loved the original trilogy, &, aside from jill's return, none of us had any pre-existing attachment to any of the characters. worked just fine...I for one, just want a RE game that is scary. I guess I don't have a strong attachment to any characters. I could see them in cut scenes alone and be fine.
I liked Leon as much as the next guy but we already played as him in RE2 Remake and RE4 remake, I personally glad we play someone else other than Leon.I wish capcom would just put the fries in the bag ie give us 3rd person camera Leon Kennedy resident evil back in raccoon city.
This wasn't officially confirmed anywhere when I went digging for a source.Second, they've already confirmed that there's a second playable legacy character who has an arsenal of weapons. You have the proper ingredients to be a video game journalist, I'd get in touch with IGN if I was you this could be their next "too much water"seems to be a "great experience first time, horrible for replay value" type of game.
Interesting
Either the "insiders" were completely wrong or CAPCOM wants it to be a big surprise once Leon enters the scene. Doesn't matter to me, I'm always there day 1 for RE.
