Whats Going On Wtf GIF by Back to the Future Trilogy

I thought it looked decent and will probably buy it for the Pro at launch.

Dunno, I feel like GoT was a one off and a sequel wasn't really necessary. Did people even ask for one? Like usually I want a sequel to games I like but didn't feel that with GoT (granted I have not beaten it, I've got like 30 hours though, across 2 playthroughs).

I wish Sucker Punch would have just worked on a new IP. They can do new IP's and be successful, they've proven it.

Yotei did have some dope waterfalls though, props on that!

What about it? Looks like a much less impressive RDR2 on better hardware 7 years later.

Well from my experience with the first game, I can imagine just being out in the open world and exploring for hours on end, camping to level up on my "journey"

I think it seems pretty cool. Not having to fast travel to a town or home base. It seems so simple, so it's nice when a dev incorporates something that makes you think "yeah, of course you should be able to do that in the sequel"

After finishing AC Shadows (which was great btw) I'm not too excited for this.

This looks like GoT with a new character. Visually very similar. I got burnt out on the last one after 15 hours, not sure about this one.

I fear we're going to overcorrect the open world gameplay loop. There is really no other way to do it. Best you can do is hide quest markers. But gameplay is the same no matter what. "Walk to X, fight, then walk to Y, talk". I don't see how it's even possible to change that loop. You can just change the dressings around it.

The overcorrection I'd like to see is "less is more" like Shadow of Colossus. No one is likely to go that extreme, but I'd like to see more open world games lean in that direction.

I was on the fence with this game, but I'm getting off now and sitting in the 'not buying until deep discount' camp. Everything just seems meh.

Really not feeling it. I'll more than likely get it but it doesn't feel like there is much of a jump between this and the first. Don't know why it bothered me but the generic enemy hideout with the same old fucking fences just made me think they are basically all going to look the same. Probably need to see even more of it.

As far as really only having one objective? Or just the HUDless approach? I don't think it's a better fit for the basic status quo. Let open world be open world and more pubs should just get back to beefy linear games.

It's just the graphics obsessed people on gaf and other forums. Most people don't give a shit.
Like you hear everyone who is playing Death Stranding 2 talking about how nice they think it looks. Go to the graphics thread here and it's people upset Kojima didn't make the game run at 480p and 25fps so he could add next gen ground textures and rocks for the people who apparently play with the camera pointing down the entire time.
Highly detailed rocks doth not maketh a good game.

I find it very weird that so-called gamers focus on that shit.

Tbh, I can't be arsed engaging with them anymore. I just sensible chuckle.gif instead and move on.

Nujabes is great, ever heard of Jinsang?
I have, and just to make things clear with my previous post, I'm not saying 'it won't work without Nujabes'.

I'm instead saying that it requires more than just looping a soothing sample over a beat for 3 minutes straight, which is one thing I've noticed about lo-fi artists.

There are lo-fi tracks out there that are meant for someone to rap over based on how often they loop and drone on, instead of being tracks that could stand on their own.

For example, Battlecry sounds more boring without Shing02 rapping over it. Not much change in tempo, not many ebbs and flows, not much inflection, etc:

I am worried, but optimistically hopeful due to Watanabe's involvement.

There is no reflections in the water, and no improvements worth giving a shit about in any facet of this game. Visuals, combat, mechanics, etc.

This is the most phoned in sequel of all time. Sucker punch should be ashamed.

Called it - wet fart.
Looks like DLC, will wait for steam sale.

Safe overpriced triple AAA product sequel just like Raganarok, SM2, DS2, etc. Originality is dead. Will prolly play it though cuz not much else releasing at the end of the year.

MGS3 Delta
Gears of War Reloaded
Silent hill f
Hell is Us
Borderlands 4
FF Tactics Ivalice
Little Nightmares 3
Outer worlds 2
Ninja Gaiden 4
Metroid Prime 4

Plenty to play from now until end of October. This game is mid as it gets.

This ultra-safe, cinematic Sony sequel is just what PlayStation fans need after the psychological trauma AstroBot inflicted by being a colorful, joyful, creative platformer that was wildly out of the norm for a Sony first-party game. God bless Suckerpunch.

Looks sick and this board is saturated with people who don't actually like games.
While this board is absolutely filled with people who don't actually play games and love to circle jerk in negativity… this game isn't the one to use to defend against that.

It's absolutely nothing special considering SPs history. This is low tier effort by their whole studio.

I think it looks really beautiful

I liked the first game, this looks very much in the same vein. I was expecting a slightly bigger visual upgrade but still looks very nice.

Was never in day one unlike the first game, but will pick up at some stage.

The fog on the hills looks very cool, frame rate appears to be dog shit at times or it may be my YouTube.

I don't think any of the bolded games do much against the 'originality is dead' claim.

Less content. I like to use Elden Ring as an example. I loved the stage coach robbery that happened organically in the open world. It felt so special...and then they repeated the gimmick a few more times and each repeat diminished how special the original occurrence felt. Elden Ring does this a bunch, sadly. I really think designers just aren't confident in letting their open world's breathe and copy and paste content so that a player can go more than a few seconds without bumping into something. And the knock on effect, is that to support all that content, they litter their maps and implement guidance systems so that none of that content can be missed which is ironic as these games are so bloated that the vast majority will not even finish the game, much less take on the task of doing everything. It's okay to let players miss out on content and I'd argue that's a great thing as it would allow future playthroughs to have unique moments.

To tie this back to Yōtei, I was pretty excited about Tsushima's wind system that was presented as it felt organic, but quickly had my hopes dashed a few moments later in the presentation when they pulled up an in game map that was littered with question marks.

I think it's fair to expect a good improvement in technical presentation when you're on a new generation of consoles (which still go for a significant premium), it's five years into the gen, it's a current-gen only title, the prior game was successful and this should've been allocated ample resources to provide a solid bump up. Instead it barely looks better than the first game on PS4 Pro and if you told me this was an intra-generational upgrade on a PS4 title I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

They're taking what is effectively PS4 game, turning up a few dials and saying you need to buy a new console if you wanna play the game. If they're not gonna do much technically with these games then they might as well be releasing them on last gen platforms too, and if they're gonna require the new platform, then they should be putting in the work [on AAA first party titles] to make it worth the upgrade. There's a fundamental mismatch there.

With Hell is Us, Silent Hill f in September, and Metroid Prime 4 possibly in October, I'm not seeing myself paying full price on this one.

Maybe down the road in 2026, at half price...

I know there is superhero fatigue out there but I can't help but feel given what they did with Infamous, they would be a great fit for a new X-Men game.

They sure as shit all look more fun to play than this pile of dicks.

Sony is off its rocker. Nintendo would've never let a sequel this half assed see the light of day in their first party line up, and are willing to scrap an entire game until they get it right. Even Xbox cancels stinkers.

This is Sonys RedFall incoming.

Congrats, you managed to have the most ridiculous take on a thread full of ridiculous takes.
Regarding the Nintendo claim, the original Mario Kart 8 exists.

Also why ir wasn't on my list above its safe to say Chronus is also likely an October game since it's survival horror and October is the month for that kind of game to launch.

There's just too much good stuff worth my dollars to have this on my radar right now.

It doesn't help too that we got:
Rise of the Ronin
AC Shadows

It just feels like there's so much good Japanese samurai games that came before this to create a slight fatigue or at least larger expectations for this.

For the record I love GoT 1. I have t shirts, and even a wall scroll above my gaming set up for it. This is the most of a sequel I've seen in a long time.

not a fan of "use this weapon against this enemy", its basically stance.

OVerall this sequel is an improved version in terms of visuals and gameplay but nothing special for me.

I bought the first game day 1, im thinking maybe this is the first time ill wait for sales and for some patches.

Extra bloody mode is honestly the only thing that really caught my attention.

And then if you do play that mode you lose FOV? That is a dumb call. Atleast thats how I understood it. Camera zooms in closer.

I was wowed by the herd of horses riding across the field in one scene, and an incredible looking storm in the distance in another. I guess we all look for different things.

Looked better than expected, though I was keeping expectations low. They played it safe with the first one, and it looks like they're pretty much doing the same here. I'm interested so far, but nothing screams Day 1 for me. Looks at least better than AC Shadows. Can't wait for all the Shadows vs Yotei threads and vids. Loljkno

I thought it looked great, I wasn't sure about this game because I wasn't happy with the character change at all but I am sure I will buy it now. The art style is what carried the first one and will likely be what carries this one as well.

Day 1 for me if I manage to finish Tsushima in time.

Really like a lot of what I've seen in terms of enabling exploration and choice. Hope they can still tell a cohesive narrative tho!

People still want to enjoy a revenge story? For real?

Are people never get tired of this?

Lol. I imagine there are a fair few folk in here who had made up their mind before they saw anything.

From both sides you say.

I also find funny all those fanboys defensive mode because the last time I enter into a Nintendo thread, some fanboy said 'GAF HATE NINTENDO', I enter into a Xbox thread, some fanboy said 'GAF HATE XBOX', I enter into a Playstation thread, some fanboy say 'GAF HATE PLAYSTATION'.

Never ever change. Same patern, different day.

You are correct. Copy/paste, No new geometry upgrades or 4K like textures like Decima or UE5.

This is probably an argument killer you got there. I wouldn't tell who is who, if you ignore the chick.
