Looks good, but main character is really ugly, worst than first game.
Not sold.

Not sold.
I want to keep our upcoming discussion on a specific topic point: Genres, and how Sony's portfolio isn't varied enough. That's why I'm disregarding the other stuff. This is me merely speaking up about the fact that their genre portfolio was more varied last generation compared to this one.No no no. You don't disregard that. That's the primary issue.
I, personally, am not complaining. I stated that I understand why others are. From their perspective, the most of what they are seeing from Sony are mostly cinematic, third person action/adventure games. You're essentially complaining about 3rd person as a perspective, not so much genre, even if you want to boil all of that down to action/adventure. Truth bomb time! Third person games are the optimal for most people who are into single player fare. Action adventure games have the highest number of perceived GOAT titles and sell the most.
I think a big part of that has to do with the shrinkage of portfolio/genre. I don't see others making the specific complaints I quoted in your post with Helldivers 2, Astro Bot, and Returnal, which were 3 games outside of that first list I posted.Sony's problem isn't that these games are 3rd person Action/Adventure. Their problems are the lack of technological improvements and gameplay evolution, and the worsening creative direction they've taken
For me personally the only thing I liked about Jin was the voice actor for Zoro from One Piece was doing his Japanese voice but other than that he had personality as much as wet blanket.I'm still bummed they did a time jump and switched main characters. I wanted to play Jin more and go on more adventures with him. I will eventually play this, but it's wait for a sale status for me.
Ugh... this again. None of this means anything
Cinematic?? Seriously? Why shouldn't 3rd person games with cutscenes be cinematic in 2025?
that's not it.Games have always tried to replicate the visual language of movies, television, cartoons and/or anime, because that visual language fucking works. There is no modern game AAA game with cutscenes that isn't in some way "cinematic".
again, im talking about as in sony' s AAA single player template, as in their own genre. no one is saying that Astro Bot is an over the shoulder game or Helldivers 2 is either , right?... why do you think that is?Over-the-shoulder? What, because they're 3rd person? Are you really going to say that Spider-Man, Horizon, Days Gone, and Ghost are OTS?
again... as a template. as something that is recurrent among sony's AAA. single player gamesOverly serious/dramatic? Well, that's new to me. People actually liked the atmosphere and tone in both TLOU and GOW'18. People had problems with Ragnarok because of the seriousness was undercut by low rent Whedon MCU quipification.
oh, you are missing a little something....None of the Sony games have Turn base combat. In fact ; the first thing i thought about that game was Persona 5 and Final FantasyYou know what fits in this and all your other categories with TLOU and GOW more than anything else from Sony first party? Expedition 33. Down to the letter, actually.
well, let's ask chat GPT :Like I said, all of this stuff is completely meaningless analysis.
two examples:They make sure there games are more likely to be completed and liked while being completed. Framing that as "overly focus tested" is crazy.
Especially funny since TOTK is for 70% of it's content is quite shameless BOTW asset flip. Honestly, almost all crtitique from this thread could be easily mirrored to TOTK, Prime 4 or Mario Kart 8 withot even involving any sort of creative spinning. Or to any Souls game by Miyazaki to that regard, lol.Zelda Tears of the Kingdon
Tenchu PlayStation 1, letting you to use the hook where you want
Yotei PlayStation 5, you can only hang in scripted places marked in red just in case you are retarded
I wouldn't be surprised if the plan here is identical as in the first game, except this time I expect more gaas featuresSucker Punch was hiring for multiplayer expertise a while back, and Aniplex is producing the GOT Legends anime, so we have to wait and see.
Sony shills shilling for a woke Sony LGBTQ 70$ DLC. That looks more entertaining than the gameplay itself.
Instead of getting the continuation of Jin's story we get a gender swapped strong independent woman lead. Stop me if you've heard this before. Just another studio's exercise in virtue signaling.
Still more interesting than "le angry, screaming warrior woman no. 634577".For me personally the only thing I liked about Jin was the voice actor for Zoro from One Piece was doing his Japanese voice but other than that he had personality as much as wet blanket.
But but you had teenager son trouble to deal with and dead wife feelings! Isn't that what is really important?!?Looks like ghost of Tsushima 2 alright. Kinda worried it will end up like Ragnarok, where it was a complete bore due to being so damn similar to the first game.
Wow. that's fucked up. but something is not adding up.I thought you had something going, but eh...
Concord was overseen by the same group led by John Rostron as Stellar Blade, while neither had anything in common, staff-wise, with Marathon. Helldivers 2 was overseen by the same group led by Scott Rohde as Spider-Man 2, Gran Turismo 7 and Astro Bot, while Horizon Zero Dawn was handled by a completely different branch of SIE compared to Uncharted 4 and Spider-Man (the only thing they shared is being overseen by Shuhei Yoshida).
Just so that it's clear for anyone else, the focus of my posts are not about the third person perspective in general. I know that it is a mainstay perspective and that's not my point of discussion, nor would it make any sense for me to bring that up as a negative.March Climber In the 2d epoch, the side scroller was the universal videogame, and now it's the 3rd person view. I wouldn't all it a genre. More of a format. Several of the some tenpole games are clustered into a genre. Mainly the open world ones. But there are outliers like last of us and God of war.
Third person format would also include ratchet and returnal and astrobot too, though.
If I'm going to put the really similar Sony games in a bucket, that would be horizon, spiderman, days gone, and ghost. Then maybe last of us and uncharted releases are sort of in a cluster. But then there's the gow, returnal, ratchet and idk what else. Maybe I'm forgetting something, I don't actually play them all.
Anyway I think they are making okay, but not great use of the third person character format by doing different genre mixes. I can agree though that there's not enough games coming out to fill out those edges, those full-genre switches, like returnal, astrobot, or demons souls. And they are really missing a legit contemporary 3p shooter. Ratchet and returnal are different, obviously. Weird hole in the catalog.
I was tired of side scroller character games, btw. Still am, a bit. So I can see getting sick of the entire format, even if it's the mainstay.
I would rather stay ignorant than relying on AI (not that it changes much, either...)Wow. that's fucked up. but something is not adding up.
and because im not balls deep as you in sony's ass I had to use A.I
John Rostron is Not a Creative — He's a Production Executive
John Rostron, as Head of External Production, oversees partnerships and ensures that production pipelines, milestone checks, QA processes, and delivery meet PlayStation's standards. That means:
He doesn't greenlight games.
He doesn't choose the tone, gameplay, characters, or monetization.
He facilitates support, budget allocation, and delivery between Sony and the external studio.
So:
If Firewalk (Concord) had a bad creative pitch but met milestones? He'd keep supporting.
If Shift Up (Stellar Blade) had something exciting? He'd also keep it on track.
He's the manager of external projects — not the creative visionary behind them.
so. Concord, Marathon And Fairgames wokeness and shittiness comes from the devs. We also know that the Western side of game development has been hijacked by that ideology. so nothing surprising in that regard.
So,i guess Scott Rohde has a similar position than Jhon, "both are not creative" tho.
so the issue comes from the actual people making the games...
so asking more i think your culprits would be people or groups above Jhon or Scott AND below them.

Games like Concord or Fairgame$ likely reflect:
Studio-level belief in representation
Input from DEI consultants and test groups
A desire from leadership to "future-proof" or align with corporate trends
In contrast, Stellar Blade — made in Korea — is not subject to this Western DEI pipeline, which is why its tone and character design feel so different.
i think it checks out and because A.I. says it it must be true![]()
Don't see why it matters now, Shadows is a busted flush. They've already moved on to pinning their hopes to avoid liquidation on the Black Flag remake and the game about lesbian witches.Ubisoft will have been worried by GoT but I think they'll be relieved by what the sequel is shaping up to be.
One thing I think some of these open world games seem to be getting better at is giving landscapes a more natural sense of scale, and that seems to be true here as well compared to GoT. The other 'improvements' they are leaning into here (a bunch of weapon types to use vs different enemies, 'the world comes to you') I think may not even be beneficial to the experience overall.
Wouldn't you count Rise of the Ronin as an ARPG? Or Lost Soul Aside? (it's been marketed as such, though we have to see how much that holds water). The Until Dawn remake is a horror, narrative game, and a lot suggests that Firesprite is making a sequel, while Fairgame$ is a FPS heist game. These are Sony's missing first party exclusive genres this generation:
- Horror (Reminder: TLOU 2 is a PS4 title)
- Puzzle/Mystery
- ARPG
- SRPG
- JRPG
- FPS
- Strategy
- Adventure/Choice-based Narrative (Telltale-like)
- Variety (Katamari as an example)
I really enjoyed him in the first game. He's not flamboyant or insanely charismatic or anything like that. He's a boy raised to be a samurai in ancient Japan. Simple. For me personally the only thing I liked about Jin was the voice actor for Zoro from One Piece was doing his Japanese voice but other than that he had personality as much as wet blanket.
I liked Ghost of Tsushima 1 very much, but I don't think I'm interested in more of roughly the same gameplay (and likely less focus on stealth). Plus I'm absolutely not sold on the protagonist. This will be a deep sale territory for me.
Words have no meaning anymore.Sony shills shilling for a woke Sony LGBTQ 70$ DLC. That looks more entertaining than the gameplay itself.

When did you realize that? When the alphabet crowd started inventing them, or when it hit the mainstream?Words have no meaning anymore.
Rise of the Ronin is mainly published by SIE and was produced by XDEV Japan. KTG producers have been on record saying that the game existed thanks to SIE.To address this:
My post was about non-remaster first party-only offerings. As far as I'm aware, Koei-Tecmo published Rise of the Ronin. They are listed as publisher on the Steam version too.
Lost Soul Aside is (potentially) another third person action/adventure, but could just be third person character action.
I cannot count Until Dawn for the same reason I cannot count TLOU 2. Those go towards the Ps4's legacy.
Lastly, I need to see an actual release date on Fairgame$ as confirmation that Sony won't get cold feet and shelve it.

A lot time ago, no issue in pointing out every instance of nonsense out there. When did you realize that? When the alphabet crowd started inventing them, or when it hit the mainstream?
Words have no meaning anymore.
Some people really need to grow out of this console war mindset.Yesssss

(fuck all you haters who cannot enjoy anything in life)
How do you explain things to a 5 year old child? By speaking like a professor at the university giving a lecture? It kind of looks like putting on modern anti-DEI armor would cost at least 40 IQ points.![]()
Yea, I really don't get how people can enjoy games with that kind of main characters. I guess it can work if you identify as an ugly non-binary entity, but otherwise? Even in a wonderfully crafted environment, that's an instant immersion killer. It's like having a barrel full of sweet honey. If someone drops a little pile of shit in there, you won't be able to enjoy it.Looks good, but main character is really ugly, worst than first game.
Not sold.
That's more to do with badly made character than just being female.Still more interesting than "le angry, screaming warrior woman no. 634577".
True, though I think his arc being about having to sacrifice that identity and instead become what the reality of the situation required him to be was quite nuanced by game standards. He's a boy raised to be a samurai in ancient Japan. Simple.
wow, that's a very stupid thing say. AI is jut like more powerful and context sensitive search engine.I would rather stay ignorant than relying on AI (not that it changes much, either...)
imagined uh? now with some research I have a clear and more informed idea. shockingWhat is your point, though? You implied that there were groups within Sony behind certain types of games, which is true, but no exactly how you imagined it.
(once a game is green lit)... that's on the diagramThe only way to have direct, creative interference on those projects is within the development teams themselves,
you mean my previous argument based on imagination?and all these games were developed by different studios, so your argument doesn't hold water there.
that's one the diagram too. Executives can push the corporate values on project. we have had very obvious examples on HollywoodSupervisors can also have a say on creative pitchs or concepts,
yeah and gaming has been victim of this scheme too:which could lead to successful and failed projects. That's how the entertainment field works at large.
100%. I think there was some shit like this with the bows in the first game iirc. I find it jarring when they've gone to the trouble of a largely diegetic UI; like the game design decisions are at odds with each other.Kinda breaks immersion when she pulls a six feet staff from her ass
