Sad news for the two guys who were asking for a new Judgement game announcement at the RGG Direct in September :(

I only played the first one and while I had fun with it, it also felt a bit pointless.
Not only was it also set in Kamurocho with a plot involving the Yakuza, but the overall gameplay and structure were nearly identical to the Yakuza games. Adding some boring tailing missions and evidence gathering sequences didn't really do enough to set it apart.

I think spending their resources on something like Stranger than Haven that actually looks more unique is way smarter.

First they ruined Yakuza, now they're ending their 2nd best IP. RGG had a good run. Hope their next game is good or else there's nothing there for me anymore.

At least they aren't only making Yakuza with TB combat, we're getting Stranger than Heaven and I'm sure it won't be the only game with realtime combat from them.

Glad to hear this. Enjoyed the Yakuza games but the Judgement games felt like the weaker step sibling.

Stranger than Heaven looks like a better use resources to have a side project that's not Yakuza.

Big shame, loved those 2 games even more than the Yakuza's. Hopefully that Stranger than Heaven will make a good replacement.

Well, with yakuza turning to shit too, there is nothing that interested me in this studio anymore
Same here. Last 2 or 3 Yakuza games were kinda shit imo, specially 8 which for me had the worst pacing and writting to date.

Will really miss Judgment, two amazing games with great writting, characters, combat, music... everything. Fuck man.

That's really sad. I enjoyed Kaito's DLC for Lost Judgment and he was really good as the protagonist, they could continue with him if there's an issue with the main actor.

I didn't like Lost Judgment as much as the first one, the whole bullying story stuff bored me and the secondary stuff wasn't as entertaining. But it needs a third game.

That sucks, Lost Judgment is one of the most thought-provoking and interesting stories in recent video games, with one of the best antagonists ever.

I was looking forward to a third episode but I guess it's never happening.

Let me say that Judgment were my fave Yakuza games.

I liked the protag more than the blunt Kiryu. I liked the detective stuff. The whole atmosphere was just cool. In Judgment you're constantly asking who is the mole.

Lost Judgment was my GOTY. It wasn't a whodunit, but the question was why and how. The school was for 90% optional and I actually liked the progression and story there (it tied in with a side arc from Judgment 1). Lost Judgment tried a bit of verticality in its action stages etc, which I kind of dug.

I really liked Judgement but to be honest the second game mostly improved on the first without adding that much.
For that kind of incremental improvement I rather play another Yakuza.

I liked the games but overall I agree. My only counter would be if Like a Dragon is going to be the new standard well then Judgement should stay because at that point it will be different from the mainline series from a gameplay perspective. The main reason I got into this series was because of the combat and while I also enjoy the JRPG combat from Like a Dragon I don't want to lost the original combat either.

Not too surprising after the problems Sega seemingly had with the talent agency of the lead actor.

I feel exactly the same I've played all the Yakuza up to LAD plus Judgment and I'm playing Lost Judgment right now. They're good but probably me least favorite games in the series. I don't really like any of the gameplay additions either of these have added. The tailing missions, stealth segments, playing where's Waldo at the crime scene, all of that detracts from the experience for me. I'd rather them focus on other things but still sucks for others who love these games

Oh, bummer. But tbh, Yakuza cranks out too much content, I can't keep up. So I'm fine with them cutting out Judgment.

I tried the first Judgment game twice, but I couldn't get into it. It just didn't hook me, for whatever reason.

What??? Game was great and zany, highly entertaining imo. Sure it'd be weird in the mainline but that's why it was a spinoff.
idk man i hated it. And i have played and loved alot of RGG games. Making the first solo Majima game a joke game with a kid following you around everywhere and the dad being cool with you taking him into like gangfights and stuff. Nah what a stupid stupid game

Must be one of the few that enjoy both Judge games and still say Yakuza is better. Loved the Pirate Yakuza so I'm the problem? lol

The Judgment games were alright, they had all the things that made a Yakuza game good. But the premise of investigating and prosecuting crime in this ridiculous ass world is a little silly. That's partly why I like the second game more than the first, it had almost nothing to do with the Yakuza element.

I think this series has a future if they focus on elements that aren't related to the mainline titles, in which case, this doesn't even need to be a series within that world.

When I noticed the first game was discounted heavily so quickly compared to the Yakuza games I knew it was a sign it wasn't performing. Brought it cheap, loved it. This is not an unexpected outcome.
