RGG Studio's Project Century is now 'Stranger Than Heaven' - Summer Game Fest 2025 trailer

I still like the feel of it, but more than likely, just like with many other trailers- reveal is just a vision/doctored af bullshot trailer, and not actual in-game footage even tho they are often presented as such :(

But isn't RGG usually above this and what they show turns out to be how it looks in final version too? Ah well, it still seems early anyway, so much can still change.

Like u said its still very early, lets judge game's final looks from maxed out pc version at launch, there is plenty time to change/improve 👍
Its fine tho, us Gaffers are catfishing all the time too after all:

Fuck off with that, its japanese game, most of japanese studios(cant say all, since we have for example this shit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unknown_9:_Awakening ) arent stupid enough to make woke games, we got bungie/fairgame$, ubi and other cucks do that instead, they dont give a damn if their games flop or not tho so its understandable ;)

On a positive side, we know what happened to that japanese woke game, straight from its wiki:

Gotta simply give gaming industry enough time and the woke cancer will be gotten rid off, thats the beauty of capitalism and competition :)

So you are saying that this game is not woke?

So you are saying that this game is not woke?
I didnt see anything woke in it, ofc i just watched those 2 trailers we all saw so who knows how actual game gonna be, but so far so good, mind u to this very day i still got all 7 proper/mainline yakuza's installed on my pc desktop, so obviously i love those games and im definitively biased :)
On top i loved all 3 seasons of " warrior"- setting is bit differend but still historical martial arts/politics, overall vibe is kinda similar:

Btw if some1 liked yakuza games i strongly recommend that 3 seasons of warrior tv series :)

Looks awesome and SEGA are also bringing back Let's Make a Football clup.

It's like the CSK days are back at SEGA. Up yours Nagoshi-san LOL
Up yours Nagoshi? I thought you were a fan? LOL. Seriously though they been doing TSUKURO LET'S MAKE A PRO FOOTBALL TEAM series for a while now as a mobile phone game but now its back in the west as a transactional game. What's interesting about this, is this is the third game revealed that is part of an inter division/company co development. SONIC RACING CROSSROADS, which is Sonic Team and INITIAL D arcade team, VF6(Which i loathe the new design for Wolf) RGG and AM2 and now SEGA FOOTBALL CLUB CHAMPIONS being a SEGA Japan and western subsidiary Sports Interactive collab. I remember back on another forum years ago you were advocating that SEGA needed to streamline their dev teams. Now it appears they doing that. Amplitude before they ended up leaving, mentioned that they wanted to do inter company development with The Creative Assembly and SEGA dev divisions. Ironically its happening now without them. So far the SEGASammy era hasn't generated much glory even though it came close during the 2005-10 era before it fell apart. I have to give credit to Haruki Satomi because without him, Shuji Utsumi would not have returned and with him bringing back some key ex Smilebit staff and with it a return for JSR. Satomi tried to do this before with SAKURA TAISEN and the SHENMUE HD and anime project but he listened to the wrong people, one of whom deliberately sabotaged that project by not bringing the key creators of that game. I'm glad the dude got a backbone and went this route by bringing in someone who knows what they doing and how to handle things. After all Satomi is very aware what SEGA fans wanted or specifically what western SEGA fans wanted to see from SEGA. They still have a lot of work to do because they have fragmented the userbase where there aren't that many SEGA SEGA fans but fans of a particular franchise SEGA makes or own. That needs to change asap where it is similar to the SEGA CSK era where people were fans of SEGA and would most likely buy a new SEGA game outside of the SEGA franchise they were already fans of. Their latest moves in trying to get the userbase back under one banner and attract new fans under the banner of SEGA instead of just focusing on an individual title and regions like what was going on during the nagoshi regime, is commendable and hopefully will work if they can balance it with updates and sequels to legacy SEGA games using the new tech, incorporating the acquired franchises more into the SEGA ecosphere, have a real focus point where all SEGAfans can congregate to which is what the SEGA account and the new upcoming subscription service is meant to be and releasing strong new IP not just from RGGstudios. Covered with a strong marketing campaign that promotes the company and not just the games like the old To Be This Good, Pirate TV, Genesis Does and SEGA Scream manage to do. A strong marketing campaign backed up by strong games. But it will take time but they on the right path. Hopefully they can pull it off.

Never been a fan of Nagoshi-san and it comes as no surprise to me that the moment he's gone, SEGA Japan output has picked up
Very nice the see the Yakuza studio work on a new IP and how they've taken Yakuza out of Japan... I was asking for that back in the SEGA Nerd days with you and Sharky LOL

Yeah, the first trailer showed some brutal combat especially, hope they didn't tone that down.

Very different, that's very unfortunate. I like the look of the first trailer way more. I didn't expect them to have changed this so much in just a few months.
I think its reflecting the decade its set in. 1915 is all bright and hopeful with a brutal undercurrent. 1943 its all murky and gloomy. Since 1915 was when japan was still striving and about to enter a era that is seen as one of the country's golden age, while 1943 was when the country was essentially under a military regime and at war with america. It doesnt look as polished as the first trailer but neither looked that finished in my opinion. It reminds me of a film that starred the actor who was yojimbo and in the seven samurai about modern japan in the 1940s which was a crime noir story near the docks and set after WW2. I was hoping long ago that RGG would do a LIKE A DRAGON side game set after japan lost the war because this was the period when the Yakuza started to become prominent and their rise to power tn modern japan, mainly because they could get things the government didn't that the people needed at the time. It would make a interesting backdrop/scenario for a Yakuza game. This new title is the closest thing to what I wanted them to do. Hopefully if this game is a hit, they might do that eventually.

I know thats why i said LOL. And yes I noticed that too. Who suddenly returned and then the announcement of the return of a game of a series that his team inherited during the SEGA team mergers. At least with Naka when he was in a prominent position, SEGA was still delivering a decent output and wasn't a one man show. But man under Nagoshi it became unbearable once he got to the position he got. I wasn't going to spend all my money on SEGA jp mobile exclusives which was where the bulk of SEGA's new titles were going. Headache to get half of them let alone play them. While there was no AAA or even AA SEGA titles for console apart from his games. He lost his mind with YAKUZA and its success that once he got into a major role of influencing SEGA's company development and releases he went too far by leaning way too heavily with this japan centric and regional focus strategy of his that further spilt the fanbase. I have to blame the management for letting it happen and get to that point. I wonder if he's totally burnt his bridges returning at SEGA as his new game has stalled because of the situation with his current publisher. Talk about karma.

Naka should never have been made team leader, that should have gone to Yoji Ishii but that's looking back. Happy with the way SEGA is now and a huge amount of that credit must go to Haruki Satomi who's turned the corp around under Sammy

Good times are back for us SEGA fans.

All I need is Skies and I am forever happy.

Yes what they show at reveals is normally indicative to the retail version.

The example you gave is a game made in Quebec, Canada.
To surprise of no1 since Canada being extremly safe country protected by 2 oceans from east and west, and by the US from north and south- can afford to have liberal delusional views for the most part.
Im talking true source of how this game happened aka who founded this shit, and that was japanese publisher bandai namco, wokesters can want to make their shitty terrible games all day long but as long as no1 is stupid enough to give them money they gonna make fuck all :P

Looks fantastic, I'm a bit tired of the usual Yakuza formula (after so many years and 10 games I've kinda forced myself to finish Infinite Wealth and I've not bought the Majima spinoff).
This seems to be the twist I needed to spark my interest again and the art style is fantastic.

Looks interesting, and I hope it's not just Yakuza in 1940s. I'm not up to date with Yakuza because of it's Assassin's Creed output and being burnt out quite a while ago.

This looks really cool. I enjoyed Infinite Wealth and Pirate Yakima but I prefer a more gritty urban story. Was hoping Yakuza 9 would be primarily set in a vastly expanded Kamurocho but this should scratch that itch.

Some promise in the trailer, so I'll keep a close eye on this.

Hopefully it has the same love and care put into it as mainline Yakuza games.

This might not be Judgment, but if I get my gritty and serious RGG kino story without all the excessive wacky chungus stuff from the latest Yakuza games then I'll be playing this day 1.

Just wish we could get Judgment 3 some day. The combat in Lost Judgment is among the best in the beat'em'up genre imo.

I'm playing through Lost Judgement right now

I had to increase the difficulty just to make the fights last a bit longer, the combat really is as excellent as you said

And those footstep sounds? Honestly, best in the business

Damn, I'm jealous. Have fun man! The story, the combat, the sidequests, the minigames... and that OST! When the music of a minigame menu (not even the minigame itself) sounds like this, you know you are in for a ride:

I wonder how they'll do the music for the new game, hope it's as good as Lost Judgment's.

So, the premise is going to take place across multiple eras - Taishō and Shōwa? Sounds pretty dope. The title and jazzy poster inspired graphic design is great.

Shame really but the past was the past. And glad you agree about Haruki although i do have some reservations in some things he's doing but at the moment its all good. And to think he use to hang around stupidbits forum back in the day. That education was surely not wasted.

Is Judgment dead or are they just taking a break?
There's usually a three year gap between the JUDGEMENT games. If its getting a third one it would probably be announced soon. But then RGG has been doing more games recently than they were before. Nagoshi leaving didn't help that series situation either and the game was never a heavy hitter.

I wonder if he'll come back now that Netease seemingly shuttered his studio
Hope not. The reason SEGA been on a surge these past few years is because he left and the few people who returned only returned because he's no longer there. If Nagoshi was still at SEGA this game might not have been made and JSR and CRAZY TAXI among others would definitely not be returning.

I don't like the logo. I assume the middle word is supposed to be a bullet? But I'd have extended the coloring behind the text if so.

A friend just showed me this, the game isn't just taking place in 1943. That's just one of the decades, the flashes at the end show the logo in 10 different styles, one for each decade, there's exactly 10 logos, 10 decades = 1 century. Project Century.

Game looks awesome at the mo and wonder if it and VF6 are sharing some of the tech and interactive backgrounds . While I'm looking forward to this game,
I hope the team will go back and make Binary Domain 2 one day, that's a overlooked gem of a game and one of the best games SEGA's ever made
