Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

'End of the F**king World' creator Charlie Covell will adapt the game, with Story Kitchen and LuckyChap producing.

The Amazon-owned streamer has picked up Life Is Strange, based on the critically acclaimed game of the same title. The show comes from game publisher Square Enix, Story Kitchen, LuckyChap and creator Charlie Covell (The End of the F**king World, Kaos). Amazon MGM Studios is producing.
As with the game, first released in 2015, Life Is Strange will center on Max, a photography student who, while saving the life of her childhood best friend Chloe, discovers she can rewind time. "As Max struggles to understand this new skill," the logline reads, "the pair investigate the mysterious disappearance of a fellow student, uncovering a dark side to their town that will ultimately force them to make an impossible life or death choice that will impact them forever."

"It's a huge honor to be adapting Life Is Strange for Amazon MGM Studios," said Covell, who will also serve as showrunner. "I am a massive fan of the game, and I'm thrilled to be working with the incredible teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen and LuckyChap. I can't wait to share Max and Chloe's story with fellow players and new audiences alike."

The pickup for Life Is Strange comes on the heels of Prime Video announcing a January production start date for its Tomb Raider series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge and starring Sophie Turner. Story Kitchen is also involved in that show.

I don't think this works as a show, unless it's a new/side story; they'll probably just force max to be gay and have her sacrifice arcadia bay for chloe.
If they manage to keep the path neutral and have chloe die at the end it could be pretty good.

I'm the biggest fan of Life is Strange, and I really like the story and the characters. I think I've played through the game at least ten times, but I can't really imagine the concept working as a film or series.

I think it would be a real shame if this becomes one of many adaptations that fail.

I think this would be great as that Netflix 'choose your path' shows. Unfortunately a dead initiative but 🤷‍♀️

But the source material is basically made for TV with the teens/young adults with powers and angsty drama and all that - hell there's already a Netflix show that's basically a bigger version of LiS plot (the time travelling/parallel dimensions stuff), and it's one of the best on the service.
I do agree I'd prefer not to retread the game characters though - but that's not how these usually go.

"The End of the F**king World" creator Charlie Covell as showrunner.

That show was a good watch, so thus far this is good news to me. I'll wait to see who else is writing and directing episodes.

I have to say it's pretty funny they're doing the show now, not long after it became clear that the IP, at least when it comes to new LiS games, is pretty much dead. Don't think it will be as impactful as the first game if they'll keep the main twists involving Chloe and the identity of the killer the same.

When are they going to realise this IP is dead ?

For some reason I had hope when Jen Salke got axed that it would lead to better things. Time to knock that off.

I've played all the games and enjoyed every one of them but I'm not sure how they can make a good show out of it. I'll certainly watch it out of curiosity.

This is stupid. The whole point of that game is giving players different options and control over the story. Unless they're going for a Netflix style interactive story, I don't see this working.

It's Amazon, so it will be trash.
The Boys rocks, and I thought Fallout was great. Well, up until the last few episodes, the whole mother as a feral ghoul thing was just like... just don't, still looking forward to S2.

...but yes, they do produce some absolute trash as well. Case in point, check out the latest "War of the Worlds".

Wonder if they still have the Paper Girls cast under contract. Could use a couple of them, since they barely gave Paper Girls a chance.

So will they be able to hold off on getting Max and Chloe together with only heavy implications like the game?

I'm not a hater but Alan Wake seems outclassing the whole Life is Strange series to me in my opinion.
