Sony Lays Out Plans For AI Use In Gaming Going Forward

iu

Sony has spoken once again about exactly how it is utilizing AI in video game development, which it says allows it to accelerate and streaming the process. The company has already utilized some AI use with Spider-Man 2 and even tested some models using Horizon Zero Dawn's Aloy. However, Sony believes AI should support creativity, not replace it, according to its own mission statement about its own AI tool called Enterprise LLM, which helps employees across the company use AI safely.

According to its 2025 corporate report, since 2023, over 50,000 people in 210 different teams have started using this system. Employees are using it not just for chat or writing help, but also by connecting it directly to their daily work tools. So far, Sony has tested more than 300 AI projects, with over 50 now part of regular work routines.

To make sure AI is used safely, Sony is also working closely with teams that focus on legal issues, privacy, and ethics. In the process, clearer rules are being created for how AI should be used, especially to avoid problems like copying music or other content without permission. The company is also using AI to help protect creators' work by building systems that can detect if something has been stolen or used without approval. At the same time, Sony is using AI to make older movies sound better and to improve picture quality on the PS5 with new upscaling tech.

Can we use AI to figure out what is wrong with Sony this generation?

Perhaps they can use it to create the plot for their games. Honestly, do you think TLOU2 would be worse if AI wrote it, including the TV show? Would Mary Jane be as ugly and mannish?

Can Sony use AI to gauge what the audience wants? If they did, would we have ever gotten Concord? Would the female lead from Intergalactic be bald?

Sony could use the help.

Ai is a great tool to use in certain things. I mean take a look when fortnite used darth vader Ai. Imagine using that kinda ai in single players games like Swat giving commands etc or last of us telling Ellie where to go or hide in certain areas etc etc.

Its not only because of AI, its a combination of many things going at Sony that indicates that they are lost
1. Drove xbox out of the market
2. Grew playerbase by 30-40%
3. Record revenue and profit

Where exactly they are lost? To not cater a minor few who upset that Sony do not uphold old direction and instead spread attention to new guys?

Hopefully the AI realizes Waifus sell. Nintendo got the memo last gen.
Sony has the most of waifu games. It's called gachastation for a reason.

Well, considering that we are now regularly at 5 years of development time here's me hoping that AI will mainly be used to reduce these ridiculous time frames and not to cut the workforce but the time frames remain.

Look into the progress GPT-5-Codex has made with agentic coding, at the very least companies will start looking into helping their devs providing them with these kind of tools. I think GenAI for art will take a little longer, maybe not ready to release in the final game but maybe help with the prototype/concept art phase to iterate on ideas faster. I can see 3D model generation useful for small props like rocks, or crates or bricks or small things like that.

I think AI won't write worse stories and dialogues than a large part of the industry does now. But in any case, it will definitely be cheaper and faster.

Not being a FN player all I ever heard about that was the controversy.

Was it actually implemented well when it worked?

I did and here is ChatGPT answer:
"Sony feels too focused on live-service bets, price hikes, and fewer first-party hits—leaving fans frustrated compared to past strong, single-player-driven generations."

Dead on.
