SAROS Releases March 20, 2026

Looks like a reskinned improved Returnal which isn't necesarily bad, but also not something I'll bite for 80 euros or whatever its price will be. Will get it on sale.
This one seems like it'll resonate with me better.

I do hope there's more to it than just beating it once on a perfect run. I never went back to Returnal after one successful full run. I don't know think I missed out on much?

Hades 2 is what they need to steal from.

god is real GIF

It even has the same sound effects as Returnal.

Best PS5 game getting a sequel.

One Sony game I can look forward to, at least

It's Returnal 2, and I couldn't be happier. The mention of permanent upgrades should please some people who didn't like the lost progression in Returnal runs.

i wish for better rewards.

Returnal lacks rewards imo, like really useful rewards.
I hope there are some really good permanent upgrades

Yup. Looks like they listened to the feedback from Returnal at launch.

Looks good. New mechanics and a new playable character, new enemy types and bullet hell animations. If you pay close attention, this actually looks a little harder than Returnal, but maybe because what they showed might be further into the game than the starting area. That shield they give you should help more casual players progress more through the game.

I honestly wish they would've tried their hand at something else. Returnal was already perfect imo and I don't feel like I need more of the same.

Returnal was my first ps5 game. I struggled, but I ended up loving it so much that I got the platinum.

I still return to the game from time to time for that Hyperion boss fight and the tower of Sisyphus.

Permanent progression? Come back stronger with each death? Sounds good to me, I totally hit a block wall with the 3rd area in Returnal. Just was unable to progress. Felt like ever run was wasted time.

I'll never understand Housemarque about the fact that they never re-use their own IP. Very strange.
If the IP is strong it would make sense to go with a 2. But Returnal didn't sell well so starting over with a new IP is no problem here. Plus you wouldn't have people hesitating by thinking they haven't played the first one yet so can't start with number 2.

Gameplay looks solid! Day 1 save scumming/save mod PC!

I thought they would go with a blue or red Ikaruga-like mechanic for the shield when seeing the color differences on bullets. Didn't listen to the sound though so don't know if they said something about it.

This game looks fucken great. I don't have a PS5 so I haven't played their last game, but this along with Wolverine might bring me back to PS again. Maybe with their new handheld.

I might be alone on this but I was getting a little too human vibes just on how the universe looks. It's so stupid how good next year is looking.

Looks good, although a bit too heavy on the particle effects for my liking. But that's a very minor thing.

It's really about learning what the genre has been praised for. Hades 2 really is the defacto game for me in rogue games. I'm constantly progressing in small meaningful ways, getting lots of new story beats, and getting ever closer to a perfect run.

I reinstalled Returnal because I never did act 3 nor ascension so I'm enjoying myself quite a lot. It makes me even more excited for Saros now since I haven't played this since release.

It's still a visual masterpiece on pro now even moreso. And as a fan of bullet hell games I forgot how much I enjoy combat.

I found it interesting that Nixxes is assisting development. Did not know that. I know they're a support team but I was under the impression it was more about ports and some remasters.

All of that tweet sold me on the game. Wonderful changes to Returnal formula for the better.

Give me more skins!!! 3 in Returnal wasn't enough.

My biggest problem was we were always stuck with the same shitty gun at each death. And except the beaten bosses, the rest of the "upgrades" were IMO trash.

I loved Returnal and this looks like it'll have that same feel on the sticks. I loved the movement and weapons, it was like a dance of destruction.

I prefer the enemy design of returnal if i have to be honest but this look good enough.

Do we know if it's still roguelike or classic tps?

Unfortunately to me I'm completely disinterested to such genre. I tried to play Returnal many times, I give up at the end.

This is pure gaming.

Housemarque is a rare AAA company that manages to capture the feeling of old arcade games of the 90ies.

As the resident Returnal stan, I'm both delighted and kind of not that into some changes. First, I really dislike the MC and his outfit, it just does nothing for me and Selene Vassos was a fantastic character. Even the simple VA elements like pain sounds and all were very expressive. This dude is hyper generic to me.

Nitpick but the HUD is lame.

Biggest one for me is that the art direction and music shifted from the atmospheric as fuck Giger/Beksinski inspiration and incredible synth score to what reminds me slightly more of Nu Doom in some aspects?

Gameplay will be HM orgasm central no doubt but I was surprisingly not that into some of the changes. Day 1 of course but was expecting to fucking love the trailer.

Agreed, I'm not a big fan of this seemingly generic dudebro space marine guy. Selene felt like a much more unique character. But we also know many wouldn't even touch that game because it starred a middle-aged woman (ridiculous), so maybe this is an attempt to make it more approachable for a wider audience.

Also agree with your other points.
