Microsoft revamps Xbox Game Pass plans and hikes Ultimate to $29.99 a month, Ultimate gets Ubisoft+ Classics and more

All this negative xbox news has me feeling like...

So every couple of months you are essentially paying for a full game and getting a bunch of slop you weren't interested in purchasing to begin with? Xbox isn't releasing games with enough quality or frequency to justify the increase.

Best deal in gaming right here. No thanks.

They are blatantly corralling people off of the console to Windows. Then they'll jack up the PC gamepass price.

There is no more PC Gamepass with this update.............thats the actual fuck you to consumers.

They are forcing people to buy Ultimate even if you only game on PC....if you want day one games.

I've supported gamepass for quite a while because I was able to get discounted ultimate for under $10 per month, often close to $6-7 pretty easily

I don't know what discount will be available with this new price model, but I would imagine I'd be looking to pay closer to $20 a month

Ain't worth it for me, especially given my backlog

If I had zero backlog and was better about playing games, maybe, but with a backlog of probably close to 100 games this just isn't working out for me

Anyone who pays normal prices for sub plans is insane.

After 6 years of GPU where I paid for 3 years of Gold (twice) and then top up for $1 or 1 month making it GPU, Xbox still has 2:1 conversion. Unless they took away conversion just now.

I bought 3 years of Gold at Costco for I think $80 CDN per year a couple months ago. That's $240. Converts to 1.5 years of GPU. To activate that you pay for 1 additional month for $23 CDN. So $263 CDN for 1.5 years of GPU.

The old GPU Canada price was $23/mth. At 18 months that's $414. Saved myself 40%.

GPU Canada is now $34/month (just checked their site). At 18 months that's $612. Whoever pays regular price is nuts. lol
You're talking those prices like they are some sort of best deal in gaming. Well, it depends on optics, but yeh, instead of 1200$ mooses, having to pay 240$ beavers guess it is NOW.

But compared to just 36€ for 3 years top up not long ago, and my last top up, 75€ Gold conversion at 1.5 3 year top up last time I topped, well...

Not to talk about all the 1$ or free through rewards which they've killed along the way.

I mean, if you want to kill something, I guess stabbing it 1000% more sure will do the trick. 🙅🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Got shocked PC players would have to go to ultimate for day 1 releases. Thought MS forgot its own position and that we have other options.

Thankfully it still shows me a 17.99usd PC only plan in the desktop app, though it might just be a matter of time.

Amazing stuff, thank you Phil for the extra benefits. Over at team Xbox we are happy with the price, its a premium price for a premium service put together for premium gamers 💪🟢

I always knew I'd see the absolute death of Xbox hardware AND Game Pass at some point, but seeing it actually happening is just so weird.

Just cancelled my Ultimate and Gamepass altogether, don't care if I'm on legacy billing, if it lapses or whatever I don't want to deal with the new price, they're out of their fucking minds with this shit, same as you, I have way too much shit in backlog. I need to get a PS5 again, I have a beefy PSN account waiting for me anyway.

You telling me a company would introduce a new service for a low price, then once it has been well established, popularized and has a considerable user base they start to increase the price?

Serious Biy GIF

End of the day, the value of any gaming sub comes down to price, how much gaming someone does (in this case day one games on GPU), and if they are a MP gamer to begin with.

Right off the bat, someone who doesn't play MP wont like sub plans since the first let's say $100 for a base plan has the key feature being MP.

Hmm, I think I will keep my PC Game Pass rolling. I still think it's great value, even after the price increase, but it's starting to get to the point of "hmm, should I keep it going?".

Were you buying games primarily on Xbox during your subscription?

the only acceptable revamp of gamepass would have been to lower the price, and remove the "Console Online MP" tier by making console multiplayer free, as it should be!

the fact that Microsoft still charges for console online MP is an absolute joke given their current PC strategy.

Almost nobody uses GamePass on PC. Game keys are relatively cheap and the service doesn't allow mods which is half the reason somebody would want to play on PC in the first place.

P.S. Since I only used GamePass on Series S to occasionally to demo sets of games I was on the fence about, I do not see myself ever using the service again.

It would be one thing of ms didnt just canceled a shit ton of games and close some studios. They could have justified the price increase by keeping everything as it is but due to 'economic concern' this is the price now. People would have at least understood. But now all this is just to subsidised the lost of cod sales to gamepass.

I don't get why Ultimate is so much more expensive than PC Game Pass just for the cloud streaming stuff. They really don't want people to buy traditional Xbox consoles.

Something perfectly "sustainable" business models do.

So many retarded gaping anus shill posts on the industry consolidation and rental services just a mere 3 years ago claiming this would not happen.

They don't even have that streaming shit where I'm from, I shouldn't support greedy dickheads who don't support us to begin with.

Also now I'm done subsidising Obsidian's retarded woke bullshit, finally I am free.

Some people seem to think that PC Game Pass is no longer getting day one games, but that's not the case. I hate to say it's still a decent value even after the price hike.
