On PC it's really not that bad – $15.99 a month for Game Pass instead of dropping $70 on a single game still feels like a decent deal. Day-one releases are still there, and if I'm not mistaken the price only went up by about $3.

I think we have crossed the threshold of I'd rather just buy a la carte what I want to play. Problem is I got ultimate till next year and I like that I don't have to buy xbox games for the kids.

Sarah Bond, get ready to learn Onlyfans, buddy

$30 a month.

I'm not sure I average out to much more than that buying games. I do maybe 3 $70 games a year and don't go in on sales/bundles like back in the day. Not sure. Dont track that spending very closely.

Now the hardware price hike makes sense. They did that to ensure the hardware still cost more than the software. They didn't want to go full retard and make the software more expensive than the hardware. So they went half retard and jacked everything up.

Everybody better start hitting those key sites. I just did a bunch of gymnastics to get 3 years at $10 a month, I don't think they're going to stay that low.

I'd love to listen in on these meetings. "ya know our very last attractive card in out hand is gamepass, lets fuck it and jack it to $30 a month"

paying console price tag yearly for a subscription along lol

What utter drivel..Game Pass is a great deal in gaming

Personally I'm not sure that any gaming sub is worth 30 a month. I love the service . Been an GPU subscriber for years. played a tonne and bought a tonne of games I probably would have overlooked.

I'd imagine most will just go with premium or cancel. I'm not happy about double but it's not like 30 bucks is expensive for me, but I'm not sure 30 bucks is a price that I most are willing to shell out for a gaming service. But I guess what with everything costing more these days all this is to be expected.

Deffo not good news but…… 🤷🏾‍♂️

I posted this in another thread, but I feel it's appropriate to post here too.

Sarah Bond says GamePass Unlimited is "a profitable business"... so they raise it by 50%.

Is MS purposely tanking the Xbox brand? Between the crazy price hikes of the physical consoles along with Game Pass, it kind of seems that way.

Why so happy? Cause so many of us KNEW this would happen and have been saying it for years yet people didn't want to listen. You REALLY think it was profitable cause Microsoft was saying so? You really thought something that was far too good to be true would continue? You think Microsoft give a flying fuck about any of you renting their games by saving money? I mean seriously my guy, stop lining the pockets of these fucking clowns by renting games. Buy games and help support the actual devs instead of throwing money at Microsoft to rent games. Why is this such a hard thing to see and understand? I'm glad people now are finally seeing how pathetic this all is and hopefully things in gaming start getting back to normal. Fuck renting and fuck sub services. Simple as that.
Ah, so you're bitter and smug, a wee bit condescending, hate MS with a passion, hate rental services with a passion, and as a result can't hide your gleeful delight? 😂.

People enjoy Gamepass (or enjoyed its perceived value), people don't care if MS make a profit or not, people don't mind 'renting' one and done games, and devs are compensated in other ways. Your arguments are all pretty null and void, and contradict each other. Are MS not making a profit, or are we lining their pockets?

Times change. MS are trying something different, and time will tell if they are successful or not - not some giddy folk on a games forum 😀

(And I say no success at these prices)

Addition: There is such a disparity in prices between GPU and the new premium tier that it seems like they KNOW everybody will gravitate back down to premium. They will then rack up first party sales again (let's face it - for COD), and for the few that do stay on GPU they won't be taking too much a hit. Maybe they'll even phase it out in a few years claiming low uptake, and get out of the 'day one hole' they have dug for themselves?

Am I blind? I don't see anything about PC Gamepass in the original post, only talk about PC in Ultimate, Premium, Essential with Ultimate being the only one giving you day 1 access.
It's in the article
Microsoft is also increasing the price of its PC Game Pass subscription today, moving from $11.99 a month to $16.49 monthly — a nearly 40 percent increase. Microsoft isn't trying to justify this increase with any added extras for PC players, though.

"The only change happening for PC Game Pass subscribers is that they won't be getting Ubisoft Plus Classics, but they'll be getting about 50 additional Ubisoft titles across PC Game Pass,"Blackwell says. "It will continue to get day one titles."

Pretty stoked about this overall. I'm currently paid through 2029 on game pass ultimate, so the more value they bring, the better for me!

It was not that long ago GPU subscribers were saying the same thing. Don't expect it to last.

Significant price increase to old hardware and your subscription service that is essentially carrying your console? Retailers are getting rid of XBOX games and consoles? Microsoft truly wants to fail. Again, next generation is going to be a NIGHTMARE. I'm dreading it.

So if Microsoft is price hiking everything I wonder how much will the next generation Xbox console is going to be?

Why should we even buy it if all there games are going to be on other gaming platforms?

They are like an automobile maker that's phasing out selling mid range automobiles and only focusing on luxury. Their hardware moving forward will not be subsidized and will target a higher end spec. The Xbox Rog Ally X is essentially the first of this new strategy. Mid range for them now will just be selling their titles on Playstation or Nintendo which they intend to fully support.

Price went from $11.95 to $16.49. $200 a year total. PC Game Pass is still a good deal if you only subscribe when there is a game you want to play.
I imagine a lot more people will do that now instead of staying subscribed year around. Which makes it increasing odd that MS still doesn't offer a discounted annual option.

My gamepass for PC keys will get devalued to 65% of remaining time ? Amazing.

..and has Microsoft finally released quests or whatever it is called in austria?! Because I was ready to earn points by gaming years ago and points now seem to be part of the advertised value proposition.
Edit: Nope, still nothing. So much for 25k points globally.

410$ Canadian before taxes. 461$ after taxes for a yearly game pass ultimate

Xbox games day one here are a 100$ after taxes

That's 4 games day one and 1 game on sale.

How many fucking good games MS releases day one that you have to buy and play day one per year ????

Lolol. Please die
You just wait till they raise the game prices to 120 per copy, then this deal gets even better!
