If you want to wait months (usually) for 1st party MS games to land on PS5 then sell

If you don't have a big library of games then sell

You can play games from Xbox (some Xbox and most 360 games) still on XSX but you cannot do that with PS5 (very few pre-PS4). If you don't care then sell

Keeping my X. It's got some games that are not available on other platform natively - like Panzer Dragoon Orta and OG Ninja Gaiden2 etc.
I also use it occasional (very few) blu-ray player.
Also I think down the road, someone may come up with a clever homebrew etc.

Plus, its minimal look is quite easy for to overlook that I even have it... or to have it as a book end. ;)

Series x is good it averages a couple AAA games a year, Indiana jones was unbelievable, not having to worry about backwards compatibility, to some degree series x is pc.

Wait until the price is hiked again, then sell it. That's what I'm doing. At this rate I'll easily get more than what I paid for it.

Sold my Series S and my X last year

Kept my Xbox One X/360

Nothing of value was lost zero regrets

Only thing I used my series consoles for was emulation and the matrix demo the ps5/series generation isnt worth my time at all

You shouldn't have bought it in the first place, but you can remedy that by selling it or even better destroying it. MS sucks and it should be not supported in the gaming arena, everything they touch they turn it to shit!

These threads are always so performative.
It's almost as if people need reassurance because of the Microsoft bad news.
If you have a pile of games, why would you not want to keep your system?
The question you should ask if you should buy an Xbox going forward?

In my opinion, going forward your better of investing in a PC, or a playstation.
That's exactly how I feel. If you have a bunch of games on the Xbox like myself don't. If not sell it and get something else to invest your money in.

I sold my XSX earlier this year to mostly fund my Switch 2 and haven't missed it. I'm especially glad I made the decision after seeing the GPU raise to $30USD/mo.

Nearly every subscriber service has been giving their customers the middle finger lately. Disney+ $3/mo. raise. Apple TV+ $3/mo raise. Netflix $1/mo. raise on ad-tier and more for premium versions. YouTube TV from $73 to $83/month. HBO Max has an upcoming undisclosed price raise.

Fuck every single one of these greedy corporations (to include Sony and Nintendo). I hope they crash and burn and learn some humility. So many people are living paycheck to paycheck, and these greedy fucks have the audacity to just keep jacking up their prices.

I'd sell it while the selling's good. It won't be for much longer.

It's not even remotely necessary. They're just doing it because they can, using whatever flimsy excuse they can get their hands on.
In my (admittedly jaded) opinion, I think they're trying to get one last cash spike before the crash comes. 2027's going to be a bad year for everyone. Every-man-for-himself sort of situation.

Sell it to me for a reasonable price. Mine is still broken.

Sell it to who? Nobody wants it.

I recently just ended up trading mine into GameStop for the $310 and bought a mix of PSN and Steam credit to fund games. I don't regret it at all.

I actually sold all of my Xbox consoles from the OG all the way through Series X. I have lots of memories but that's really all the brand is to me now.

I say keep it, you wont make your money back by selling it.
He won't "make his money back" by not using it either.

all of it's coming to PlayStation 5 eventually the only thing I have is my backwards compatibility stuff.
We've heard that for a while now and I DO actually believe it, I just wish they would hurry things up a bit. They have this big ass library that they could and SHOULD polish up, remaster, add additional content (unfinished stuff, commentary etc.) and charge $30-60 and 'dozens of us' would buy it.

honestly debating on it. between this foolishness and have 2 kids taking up a lot of my time, the PS5 is more than enough especially xbox games being multiplatform.

probably going to ditch consoles and jump to PC and a switch 2 for my daughter.

I don't know, unless every game you own for it is a physical copy that can also be sold or small digital library worth losing. Seems better to just keep it so you can access the games if you ever get the itch.

If you have dev mode it's still a very nice emulation machine. And there's enough exclusives held hostage by it for it to be worth keeping imo.

one of the reason I was considering is cuz the retail prices so high I thought it'd be good money on the second-hand Market.
I dunno other countries but in France you can easily get 300€ off of it. To me it's worth it.

I personally just keep an Xbox One S that I got for 50€, enough to play my huge catalog of Xbox OG/360/One games that I own, that not at top quality but for my use it's more than enough.

The retail price is irrelevant. It's what the market is willing to pay that matters. Unfortunately, the used market isn't willing to pay much if anything for the Xbox Series Consoles.

If you sell on FB Marketplace, prepare to take far lower than you probably want for it.

I've seen the same SX consoles in my area for weeks and they haven't sold. Even when priced at £150. People no longer want them, even at a low used price.

This is UK, London bound Marketplace.

PS5s around the £250 mark are gone within the day of posting.
Very selective evidence there. Also in the UK the cash price you receive from CeX for the Series X and for the PS5 Slim are almost identical - around £250.

Series X £245:

PS5 slim £253:

While they pay less than the XSX for the OG PS5 disc edition - £239:

CEX is also a selective resource as they consider their existing stock levels when setting prices. They also have to consider their own micro-economy (due to their credit system people are more likely to pay a slightly inflated price for used good as they can trade-in towards their purchases).

For example, they gave me £396 for my Steam Deck Oled 512gb grade B earlier this year, which was way above the rates they were going for at the time on Gumtree of Facebook.

Anecdotally - I sold my PS5 slim digital last month for £250 but got 0 interest initially with a higher price and had lots of messages from people trying to get it for sub £200.

A lot of CEX stores no longer take them in-store. They have a limit due to not being able to actually resale them. It has been that way for a couple of years.

Far easier for people to put on Marketplace and receive less money than hunt around for a CEX that can actually take it from you.

If you go into a CEX and they have 4 SX consoles and 4 PS5s around the same price, you're coming home with the PS5. Unless you're really hardcore on Xbox. And those people are few and far between.

All fair points but it's still a useful resource for gauging where the market is at in the UK. There's no great disparity between the two consoles in their CeX values.

if you are getting something half decent for it, then yeah of course sell it. unless you have a huge library of games that you cant access anywhere else, then I wouldn't.

if this is going to be the last traditional xbox going forward and the next one will turn to a PC xbox, then lots of value will be in the series X console as there are some games you will never get to play again like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. who knows it might be a collector item at one point. look how much a used N3DS cost these days.

But if you're just a Game Pass user, then yeah, sell it if you are done with it.
