Myself, I am not the biggest fan of this character, or rather, she just plain gets on my nerves due to her arrogant personality (don't get me wrong, she is written really well), but this video is a good example of how people in Japan, or in this case China, are so dedicated to create a character people will want to have.

Be it Honkai Impact 3rd, or Genshin Impact, or Zenless Zone Zero, or some other game not related to Mihoyo, like Fate/Grand Order with its colorful Servants - those people really do their best to make each character unique, visually pleasant, and memorable.

To put it in Rule34 perspective, super popular Raiden Shogun has thousands of pics posted there; on the other hand, that cactus/spike girl from Marathon - I'm not even sure if she has even 10 pics...

Same goes for upcoming Suikoden Star Leap game - characters look absolutely gorgeous!

people's standard has been so low over the past few years because of the constant ugly female character in games, that just a slightly attractive character are now called "sex sells"

Really dislike this kind of anime style and art where the female character just looks underage. I do like some anime mostly the ones like Cyber City ODE, Cobra Space Adventure, Lodoss OVA, etc where the female character actually doesn't look like a little kid. Prefer hot female adult looking characters a lot more like Yennifer, Triss, Lady Death, Sheera, Red Sonja, Psylocke, Wonder Woman, Black Cat aka most of the cast from DC and Marvel assuming they don't woke it up.

These kind of games like Honkai, Genshi, and similar style games just don't appeal to me with their art and character design. For Asian character designs, the Korea would be a lot better with things like Stellar Blade, Tides of Annihilation, HIT 2, First Desendent etc cause at least they make their characters hot while not looking like a little kid. Not to say all Japanese female designs nowadays are bad since there's exceptions like Final Fantasy Remake/Rebirth which got great art and style and being very different than most of the other anime-ish games.

Dislike all the ugly characters like Fable, Concord, Abby, Aloy, MJ in SM2, and a bunch of others that some western company purposely try to make them ugly but at the same time, the underage weeb like anime style and design isn't any better.

If the West actually get their act together and started making great female character designs again than they could easily dominate.

Asian devs get it and design female characters accordingly. Sex sells and always will. The results speak for themselves. Thank God for Asian devs is all I can say.

character design also goes beyond the games itself, its also for merchandising, toys, figure which is another billion dollar industry

and in figurines physical looks are all that matters, there's no music, story, graphics, gameplay

It's a really not hard. The west did too in the 00s with videogames and 80s/90s comic book heroines were super hot. But then the west just got really gay or something and now we get the worst female designs imaginable.

there's also a decent female fan population to these games too, because there's also a ton of hot men for them. in Star Rail and Genshin anyway.

If every character looked like this than we'd get oversaturated and gaming as a whole would be worse off for it. There's a middle ground between every character looking like an anime waifu with big boobs and short shorts/skirts and completely ugly and hideous. Not every single game needs constant sex thrown in your face or revealing characters, because it might not match the tone of the story or what the stories about. I'm all for sexy characters, but it's not needed in every single game.
