Why not? It's probably not a good idea to integrate any brand into one's identity, to any large degree.

I bought both at the time but quickly upgraded my PC gaming rig because I wasn't a fan of either UI and the games looked like crap to me compared to the PC versions at the time (that plus the modding scene was booming too)Anyone who stuck with them after E3 2013 deserves it.
A brand that represents a corporation is a fickle thing. One who does this is bound to be disappointed in the long run. I'm not saying to not be a fan, but when we tie these brands to our self identity, it becomes a part of our self worth. I don't think that's a good idea. Why not?
"World Premier"I feel like Xbox fans in 2025 need a safe word.
I am what happens when someone waits for a decade through all the empty PR promises for a console maker to return to its old ways. That Halo Unreal Engine trailer was the last straw.![]()
Were you hacked or something? My god man lol.
Anyone who enjoyed OG Xbox/360 and Bungie's Halo will feel like that.I see that a few are really getting off making disparaging remarks about people who enjoy their Xbox. I can't comprehend the level of insecurity one must have to be driven to be so needlessly mean to another who enjoys the same hobby as you, all because they play on a different platform.
Edit: to be clear, I'm not referring to those just stating that they don't like Xbox. That's a rational statement. I'm referring to the ones claiming it's some sort of mental defect to enjoy your Xbox while not having a hate boner towards the brand.
Some solid games released on PS5 this gen. You can proudly make it your identity. It's pretty easy to comprehend. Just look at the PS5 this gen. Imagine if that was your whole identity.
I just mean that your response makes no sense. The conversation was about Xbox games releases, so he mentioned Keeper which comes out in 4 days. Then you thought pointing out that he was only talking about studios Xbox owned was some gotcha? You were just not following the flow of the conversation.I am what happens when someone waits for a decade through all the empty PR promises for a console maker to return to its old ways. I just want to ask you one question. You played Final Fantasy XI (or did you play Phantasy Star Universe?) on Xbox 360. Back then both Final Fantasy XI and Phantasy Star Universe did not force you to be a Xbox Live member. Do you support Microsoft's modern console forcing you to pay 10$ to play online in addition to the subscription for Final Fantasy XIV? Only one platform requires you to pay to play online in addition the subscription price for Final Fantasy XIV.I just mean that your response makes no sense. No, that's dumb if you have to be a Live member but you don't need PS+. To me though it's irrelevant as I will never play an MMO ever again. Just too time intensive for my life these days. But yeah, dumb requirement. I did play PSU very, very casually, but was all in hardcore on XI for years.I just want to ask you one question. I have owned an Xbox console since the launch of the OG in 2001, and I don't 'feel like that'. Obviously your opinions don't inform the rest of humanity, so why act like that is the case.Anyone who enjoyed OG Xbox/360 and Bungie's Halo will feel like that.

Two things can be true at once. One can recognize that Xbox has continually fumbled the bag while also still enjoying the hardware and the software that one has access to. I continually find myself playing on my PC more and more, but that doesn't mean that I have to hate my Series X. I enjoy it for what it is, and don't get upset for what it's not. This is lesson that many learn while growing into adulthood. This idea that is a zero-sum game is just false.
Wouldn't that mean you are essentially supporting the corporation who destroyed what you loved?I have owned an Xbox console since the launch of the OG in 2001, and I don't 'feel like that'. Obviously your opinions don't inform the rest of humanity, so why act like that is the case.

The company I work for this year I could create a Netflix series about in the insanity of fuck ups and what not do. It would be the worlds most watched show. This would have been funny, if it wasn't true and sad.
LOL, destroyed what I loved? My Xbox still works bro. I don't 'love' game consoles either. Your interactions on here make a lot more sense.Wouldn't that mean you are essentially supporting the corporation who destroyed what you loved?
Destroyed Halo. Destroyed amazing exclusives coming to Xbox. Or did you never like them?LOL, destroyed what I loved? My Xbox still works bro. I don't 'love' game consoles either. Your interactions on here make a lot more sense.
I can still play the Halo games I like, they are not 'destroyed'. When I look at something I own, I don't get angry at what it doesn't do. If I find myself enjoying the things that it does do, I'm good. Again, at some point in my life (maybe 16-17) I learned to enjoy things for what they are, not what they are not.Destroyed Halo. Destroyed amazing exclusives coming to Xbox. Or did you never like them?
Yeah after what they did to the IP and you don't care. You must not be a Halo fan.I can still play the Halo games I like, they are not 'destroyed'. The literal definition of a 'no true Scotsman fallacy'.Yeah after what they did to the IP and you don't care. You must not be a Halo fan.
Its true. If you like Halo you won't like Modern Xbox. Ask any old school Halo fan.The literal definition of a 'no true Scotsman fallacy'.
Using a fallacy as a basis of your argument isn't going to get you anywhere. It is illogical in the truest sense of the word. Its true. If you like Halo you won't like Modern Xbox. Ask any old school Halo fan.
An old school Halo fan seeing what happened to the IP and not supporting the corporate suits that destroyed what he loved is not illogical.Using a fallacy as a basis of your argument isn't going to get you anywhere. It is illogical in the truest sense of the word.
But do you really need to when nothing is exclusive? You can play them in other platforms.I'm still playing my series x every day when I'm off from work. Nothing has changed for me![]()
It was on PC. It's the number one reason ppl cite this console generation has(almost) no exclusive games. But it was exclusive until the course correction towards third party.
Yes true nothing is exclusive anymore but I've been building the library since the 360. It just doesn't stop and I'll buy random shit here and there. Shit is a lot and I'm just use to the layout of the controllerand ecosystem of Xbox. Don't get me wrong I like exclusives and all but if it doesn't pull me in I won't even look at it. I do got a PS5 and switch as well but they are collecting dust right now . Last thing I bought was silent Hill 2 and the last of us 2.But do you really need to when nothing is exclusive? You can play them in other platforms.
Where are you going to move the goalposts next. So I shouldn't enjoy my Series X because the Halo sequels aren't as good as the original trilogy. Also, I'm not a true Halo fan, even though I still to this day play the original trilogy. Any other nonsense I should be concerned about? You should look this over as it's obvious that you don't even realize what you are doing. https://www.logicalfallacies.orgAn old school Halo fan seeing what happened to the IP and not supporting the corporate suits that destroyed what he loved is not illogical.
Probably not 360 either. Without that background you are just a corporate shill.
Conveniently all the same studios that MS bought.
I am just stating facts.
?? I don't think whether someone "needs" to do something or not is relevant. If a game is available on his Xbox, then he can also play it there. Why does it matter if a game is available on other platforms? If a game they want to play is exclusive to another platform, then they can play it there, obviously. Are you purposefully being this obtuse? But do you really need to when nothing is exclusive? You can play them in other platforms.

The irony of someone calling others 'corporate shills' due to them not playing on the accusers platform of choice.
This isn't true. Its true. If you like Halo you won't like Modern Xbox. Ask any old school Halo fan.
Vanillaware Games, Shin Sakura Taisen, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, Bloodborne, Demons Souls. Plenty of games not on PC.It was on PC. It's the number one reason ppl cite this console generation has(almost) no exclusive games.
Also apparently late ports make them not count anymore.
Apply same two rules and 18 of top 20 sellers on ps2 were not exclusive. And the two that were, are both GT, so nothing has really changed this gen.
Depends on the platform.Yes true nothing is exclusive anymore

You essentially are supporting the people who destroyed this IP. So yes you are not a true Halo fan. This isn't true.
Why would I or anyone else invest in a platform if there are no exclusives? Like Ninja Gaiden IV is available everywhere.?? I don't think whether someone "needs" to do something or not is relevant. Speaking for yourself right? You essentially are supporting the people who destroyed this IP. So yes you are not a true Halo fan.
But I am not supporting the people who destroyed Halo. Or atleast I did until they revealed "Halo in Unreal Engine".Speaking for yourself right?
What don't you like about current Halo? But I am not supporting the people who destroyed Halo. Or atleast I did until they revealed "Halo in Unreal Engine".
Again with the 'No True Scotsman', I promise you that there are very good reasons why one shouldn't use this line of argument. Your premise is based entirely on assertion rather than data or evidence. You essentially are supporting the people who destroyed this IP. So yes you are not a true Halo fan.
Why would I or anyone else invest in a platform if there are no exclusives? Like Ninja Gaiden IV is available everywhere.
If you can find me a PS2 that plays BB and Demon Souls (Maybe even the remake? ;P), I'll happily agree to anything you say.Vanillaware Games, Shin Sakura Taisen, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, Bloodborne, Demons Souls. Plenty of games not on PC.
This is true but you sound like a bitter ex after cheerleading the series consoles.SEGA actually had games. Xbox does not have that since 2013.

Edit : ahhh, i see that you've finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel, congrats.
They should release a version of the Xbox with Phil Specer on the box like Sega did with Hidekazu Yukawa on Dreamcast boxes.
