Being an Xbox fan in 2025

Anyone who stuck with them after E3 2013 deserves it.
I bought both at the time but quickly upgraded my PC gaming rig because I wasn't a fan of either UI and the games looked like crap to me compared to the PC versions at the time (that plus the modding scene was booming too)

There were a few games that generated my hype for each console though, Rare Replay, Halo MCC on XbONE and the last good God of War game GoW 3 & The Last Guardian on PS4. The rest was pretty much take it or leave it.

"World Premier"
That is two words.

Were you hacked or something? My god man lol.
I am what happens when someone waits for a decade through all the empty PR promises for a console maker to return to its old ways. That Halo Unreal Engine trailer was the last straw.
I see that a few are really getting off making disparaging remarks about people who enjoy their Xbox. I can't comprehend the level of insecurity one must have to be driven to be so needlessly mean to another who enjoys the same hobby as you, all because they play on a different platform.

Edit: to be clear, I'm not referring to those just stating that they don't like Xbox. That's a rational statement. I'm referring to the ones claiming it's some sort of mental defect to enjoy your Xbox while not having a hate boner towards the brand.
Anyone who enjoyed OG Xbox/360 and Bungie's Halo will feel like that.
It's pretty easy to comprehend. Just look at the PS5 this gen. Imagine if that was your whole identity.
Some solid games released on PS5 this gen. You can proudly make it your identity.

I just mean that your response makes no sense. The conversation was about Xbox games releases, so he mentioned Keeper which comes out in 4 days. Then you thought pointing out that he was only talking about studios Xbox owned was some gotcha? You were just not following the flow of the conversation.

I just want to ask you one question. You played Final Fantasy XI (or did you play Phantasy Star Universe?) on Xbox 360. Back then both Final Fantasy XI and Phantasy Star Universe did not force you to be a Xbox Live member. Do you support Microsoft's modern console forcing you to pay 10$ to play online in addition to the subscription for Final Fantasy XIV? Only one platform requires you to pay to play online in addition the subscription price for Final Fantasy XIV.

Unfortunately, since I think Xbox has some serious advantages over Playstation.
  • Free cloud saves
  • Unlike on PS, it seems like third party keys can often be found for Xbox which can save you a lot of money
  • Game Pass, yes more expensive now, but at least you have the option of playing first party games there day one
  • Quick resume
It's too late now though.

No, that's dumb if you have to be a Live member but you don't need PS+. To me though it's irrelevant as I will never play an MMO ever again. Just too time intensive for my life these days. But yeah, dumb requirement. I did play PSU very, very casually, but was all in hardcore on XI for years.

I have owned an Xbox console since the launch of the OG in 2001, and I don't 'feel like that'. Obviously your opinions don't inform the rest of humanity, so why act like that is the case.

Two things can be true at once. One can recognize that Xbox has continually fumbled the bag while also still enjoying the hardware and the software that one has access to. I continually find myself playing on my PC more and more, but that doesn't mean that I have to hate my Series X. I enjoy it for what it is, and don't get upset for what it's not. This is lesson that many learn while growing into adulthood. This idea that is a zero-sum game is just false.

All of this.

Wouldn't that mean you are essentially supporting the corporation who destroyed what you loved?

This would have been funny, if it wasn't true and sad.
The company I work for this year I could create a Netflix series about in the insanity of fuck ups and what not do. It would be the worlds most watched show.

The tag line would be what a co worker told me a few months ago when I had to tell her bad news : "It would be funny if it wasn't so sad."

So you hit the nail on the head. None of this Xbox shit is funny anymore, and it's pointless to get angry, or invest any emotion in it.

Only a retard would support this brand any further.

Destroyed Halo. Destroyed amazing exclusives coming to Xbox. Or did you never like them?
I can still play the Halo games I like, they are not 'destroyed'. When I look at something I own, I don't get angry at what it doesn't do. If I find myself enjoying the things that it does do, I'm good. Again, at some point in my life (maybe 16-17) I learned to enjoy things for what they are, not what they are not.

Yeah after what they did to the IP and you don't care. You must not be a Halo fan.

But it was exclusive until the course correction towards third party.
It was on PC. It's the number one reason ppl cite this console generation has(almost) no exclusive games.
Also apparently late ports make them not count anymore.
Apply same two rules and 18 of top 20 sellers on ps2 were not exclusive. And the two that were, are both GT, so nothing has really changed this gen.

But do you really need to when nothing is exclusive? You can play them in other platforms.
Yes true nothing is exclusive anymore but I've been building the library since the 360. It just doesn't stop and I'll buy random shit here and there. Shit is a lot and I'm just use to the layout of the controllerand ecosystem of Xbox. Don't get me wrong I like exclusives and all but if it doesn't pull me in I won't even look at it. I do got a PS5 and switch as well but they are collecting dust right now . Last thing I bought was silent Hill 2 and the last of us 2.

An old school Halo fan seeing what happened to the IP and not supporting the corporate suits that destroyed what he loved is not illogical.
Where are you going to move the goalposts next. So I shouldn't enjoy my Series X because the Halo sequels aren't as good as the original trilogy. Also, I'm not a true Halo fan, even though I still to this day play the original trilogy. Any other nonsense I should be concerned about? You should look this over as it's obvious that you don't even realize what you are doing. https://www.logicalfallacies.org

?? I don't think whether someone "needs" to do something or not is relevant. If a game is available on his Xbox, then he can also play it there. Why does it matter if a game is available on other platforms? If a game they want to play is exclusive to another platform, then they can play it there, obviously. Are you purposefully being this obtuse?

Destin is the ultimate Xbox fan. If them xbox fans are all cut with the same scissor, they all must be very sad and in full denial state.
I can understand they like the games MS produces which are on a regular basis very mid and that is ok. That's the kind of games they like. What astonishes me is their endurance to endure all the corporate lies and disappointment through decades, they are masochists!! Good for them god bless them.

Vanillaware Games, Shin Sakura Taisen, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, Bloodborne, Demons Souls. Plenty of games not on PC.
Yes true nothing is exclusive anymore
Depends on the platform.

Why would I or anyone else invest in a platform if there are no exclusives? Like Ninja Gaiden IV is available everywhere.

Fans: Talking about pissing your money away. Microsoft Executives: No no we're in this together. No one is leaving. - I can't believe a company this big and continue to shoot themselves in the foot over and over. I think maybe this is going to be a turning point with jumping Gamepass up to $30 a month. As a fan, why would I need to buy another Xbox console? I will buy another Xbox controller for my computer. I think next gen is all about PC and PS6.

I don't support what they've been doing for a long time but I would still consider myself a fan. Waiting for them to either pull the plug or to do something drastic and make a comeback. They'll probably just keep doing dumber and dumber stuff, trying to top themselves.

Again with the 'No True Scotsman', I promise you that there are very good reasons why one shouldn't use this line of argument. Your premise is based entirely on assertion rather than data or evidence.

You aren't some arbiter of Halo fandom that gets to decide what specific beliefs 'Real Halo Fans" must adhere to.

If I said 'Do you like the movie Terminator? Well you aren't a real Terminator fan if you watch CBS, seeing as they own the IP and produced that last sorry excuse of a Terminator film,' you would rightfully point out that I sound like an idiot. Now recognize you are doing the same thing.

Your second argument is only relevant if someone was stuck using a singular platform. There are a myriad of reasons why someone would prefer to play on any particular platform, and if they want to play another platforms exclusive, they can simple play that exclusive on the other system. And to be clear, no one cares where you invest your money.

Like bro, it's ok that you don't like Xbox, but this crusade to convince others that they should feel obligated to do the same is just weird.

Edited: revised to be less combative

If you can find me a PS2 that plays BB and Demon Souls (Maybe even the remake? ;P), I'll happily agree to anything you say.
Also TLG and Demon Souls are both on multiple systems, so they wouldn't count either - the arguments of late aren't just about PC.

Also none of those (the ones actually on PS2) are even in the top 50 sellers. The point I was making was that any 'true' exclusives (by this updated definition) on PS2 were highly niche stuff most system owners never even knew about.

SEGA actually had games. Xbox does not have that since 2013.
This is true but you sound like a bitter ex after cheerleading the series consoles.

Edit : ahhh, i see that you've finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel, congrats.

They should release a version of the Xbox with Phil Specer on the box like Sega did with Hidekazu Yukawa on Dreamcast boxes.
