Is this a new level of banning ? :(

Society makes me sick. Just deleted my TikTok account. I reported so many things and only half of them were approved for removal. It's sick and disgusting. Only reason I had it was cause my spouse sends me recipes and funny stuff. Is it just me or are the sickos and pedos coming out more and more? Has it always been this bad but I didn't notice it?

What's worse is if you consider the internet is just one computer connected to another. There's no real privacy and certain people throw their lives away chasing after someone or something else.

Hard to argue that social media is a net benefit to society…

What's up NeoGAF entertainment universe?
I'm still really down about GigaBowser's career being ended in the squared forum :(

I dont have a tik tok, but I think I've seen video clips from what friends send me. They surely werent anything digusting or weird, but dont remember any of them.

I have lost zero in life not using TT. All I have is a FB and Linkedin. Thats all I need. Ya, I'll check out any Instagram or Twitter links people post, but since I dont have a profile it's limited what I can see and cant post or see comments. Half the time I cant even see the post and get a big Sign Up screen plastered in my face. Dont care one bit. I'll move on. If there's a cool sports clip I can see, that's enough. I dont need to see or participate in the 3,000 stupid comments in the post.

Also, pending what you believe, a lot of users and comments on big social media sites are bots anyway. So people are wasting their time engaging with bots.

I normally did not report anything (unless it were something that was criminal then I would) but I've been banned multiple times from Facebook over the years for very dumb shit. It's been ages now but anyway last ban I got was for posting a Macho Ma'am meme cuz I thought it was hilarious and literally 4 months later I get banned for it for a month. Previous to that, I got banned for saying "buffoon", which wasn't even directed at a person on Facebook, it was in conversation about sports which whatever Facebook employee received the report could have easily read the entire comment and seen that I wasn't calling anyone on Facebook a name (i forget who I was talking about but it was probably Aaron Boone) but I guess they feel like their dick is huge when they just issue a ban. Another time was cuz I called someone fucking stupid, which they were. Ok for that one though, I suppose I deserved it.

I then started to test the system. I reported someone for a full paragraph of insults towards someone else that included some super vile shit and got a message back from Facebook that they didn't remove the comment. Another report I did was some random page with footage from a store camera of a guy getting shot, nothing blurred or anything, full out clear as day guy getting shot to death on a public post anyone can see. Again, got a message back that Facebook wasn't removing it. This one appeared for no reason on my feed as it sometimes does that with random pages I guess with the hope you'll join the group or support the page in whatever way it allows so it wasn't like I was seeking this footage.

You can post videos of people dying violently but god forbid you post a guy with hoop earrings and a purse that's captioned Macho Ma'am (this was the GameStop guy, if anyone remembers that goof).

It is weird what they choose to take action against and what they don't. I wouldn't have a Facebook account if it weren't for people in my life living in different parts of the world where I can't just hop in a car and see them regularly. Great way to keep up on one another's lives but the stuff that people get away with posting these days is incredible. You're right though, the amount of truly disgusting stuff that is disregarded on platforms is crazy.

I just noticed that the "AI images of game characters doing everyday things" was nuked.
I guess people were getting a bit too thirsty in there, eh?
Shame, it had a lot of really funny images.

My instant test if one site slows or dies is to test another site to see if it's me or not. Given this year's AWS and Cloudflare outages perhaps it's best to extend that to more sites you know to be on different hosts if you get multiple failures.

Same for me. Random posts will have half the text grey, sometimes switching halfway through a word, and some posts are grey from the beginning.

Edit: just looked at that thread and it's fine for me, so it looks like it's unique to the user when it happens.

Do you mean the dark first paragraph? Quote the post and switch to BBCode mode - you'll see that the first paragraph has colour applied to it.

If not, I'm not affected by the same curse.

Got it! I could've sworn this was a bug or something because I'm positive I saw mentioned earlier. Oh well, I feel a little dumb. Thanks for clarifying!

Hey there. I thought I'd be able to restore my user name once a month had gone by since I requested the change, but now that the month has passed the option just doesn't appear anymore lol

It used to say something along the lines of "you'll be able to change it from Dec 16 onwards" but the option isn't there.

Also sorry for being so bothersome with this shit. :goog_relieved:

How does one request/reserve to make an OT? I would like to make a couple for upcoming games (hint my profile pic)
Just head over to this thread and say "I'm gonna do an OT for No Law". Your post basically signals that you're reserving it, and it'll keep others from duplicating your work.

I was just thinking on this recently

My family friends used to have a cat that was super friendly and didn't bite and scratch. Whenever my family went to visit that family friend, we would always play with the cat to the point where my parents had to tell us to stop bothering it. We were kids and that cat lived a long life (around 15 to 20 years). And I was having a discussion with that family friend recently about their cat they used to have and I was like I'm surprised that cat never bit or scratched us due to how much we would hover over her. And my family friend was like "We know", and she would say everytime we left her house, that she was super worried that someday her cat would bite or scratch us. I miss that cat

As a holiday, New Years never mattered to me. It seems like overkill just to say the year ended. I understand it's far more important in places like Russia and China. I personally, have never enjoyed the holiday. Expressing my own opinion about the holiday never mattered until I met my wife, who is from Russia. Now I'm the dick who doesn't like one of the most important holidays. That all boils down to the fact that I forgot to take off New Year's Eve and it's too late to use PTO.

Monk by name, monk by nature.

If you want to break holidays and celebrations down even further they're all arbitrary. Birthdays, Christmas, all of them are inherently meaningless in terms of celebration. We only give them meaning through tradition, and they're tradition because they make people happy.

New Year celebrations can basically be summed up by Auld Lang Syne: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auld_Lang_Syne

Book off next year ASAP as a gesture of apology. Unless you hate socialising you should be able to give it enough of your own meaning (perhaps something like "I like staying married").

Thank you for your insight. I am going to do better next year. It's already New Years in Russia. I got home early today and thought I'd put Channel One on TV and we could watch the televised events from Moscow. They went out shopping, so maybe next year I'll give it more meaning. I'm still giving some things a shot to make the day feel special. Next to International Women's Day, New Years is right up there with holidays I will do better at. I did get her birthday, anniversary and Christmas gifts this year.

Do Russians do anything special for New Year? I don't know anything about it. All I know is people having parties to see in the new year.

I think as long as you initiate/invite communication you can't go wrong. Communication is a two way street, after all. Sit down with a calendar and get ahead of any days important to her that you could end up working and you can't go wrong.

Wait, International Women's Day?

Wait, International Women's Day?
Omg it's huge in Russia. We are talking presents, foods, festivals, and everything we do for Christmas. The thing is we've always celebrated it with dinner and maybe a glass of wine. Perhaps the years being away from Russia and her friends in Russia showing off their New Years feasts have sparked something inside of her. We go all out for Thanksgiving and Christmas. That leaves nothing but food for New Years. Which doesn't always feel special. I'm thinking next year I will budget for presents, special foods, and maybe I'll buy some Russian decorations. Social media makes her jealous because her friends have these huge robust meals for New Years.

International Women's Day is a big deal. I highly recommend honoring it if you value the woman in your life. I neglected it for the first few years cause I didn't even think about it. Living in the west, it isn't something I ever concerned myself with. The women in my house didn't care. I didn't realize how important it was to them. So if you want extra points with your lady friends, give them some flowers or a small token of appreciation.

I just found out that Erich von Daniken died a couple of days ago. I love watching Ancient Aliens and loved watching him say his takes in each episode. It didn't mean I believed in everything they say (That show has been disproven a lot of times) but he was part of making that show fun to watch. RIP man you will be missed

You guys get varied weather? Must be nice. Aside from 1, maybe 2 days of snow all we've had in my region of southern England is wind and/or rain since about October and that was in the last couple weeks. And even that tiny amount of snow barely settled for a day before it was rained away.

These days a rare treat is a day that is just cold and not windy. I live for those days now.
