I have vague memories of playing this back in the day.

Set in an alternate ending for the movie where Tony survives and takes back his empire. I think at the time of release it got some kind of award for the game with the most swearing in it, or something.

Tried to play it not long ago, I'm not tech illiterate at all, followed pretty much every suggestion from pcgamingwiki, reddit, youtube and the likes but I simply could not make the game run well on W11, it always had some kind of bug that made it pretty much unplayable so this is nice.
I'm hoping the soundtrack is untouched or at least someone makes a mod to restore it.

If I remember correctly, it's better than the True Crime games but worse than the GTAs, especially GTA Vice City, which is the direct comparison, I think. GTA Vice City is essentially also a re-telling of Scar Face anyway.

You remember incorrectly. The missions and mechanics in this game are better. Drug deal excursions to distant islands on top of turf protection/conquest system are awesome. True Crime: New York City is no slouch either with exciting gunplay, crazy scenarios, in-depth random crimes, underground racing syndicate, and fight club (you even get to learn new styles).

P.S. It would be good to not need an entire rendering program to run Scarface: The World Is Yours on modern hardware.

In many areas it is better. Driving, map, and dialogue are not one of them. There is more interactivity and more extensive mechanics in general though.
