Clarky today:

I think today should be recognized as the first NeoGAF holiday. The good vibes can not be denied.
He's a dev in disguise (or maybe not disguised at all and I just don't know it).

Likely in the minority here but wish this game had a PVE mode of constant exploring and building a base and outposts deeper in the sectors

Love this world Embark made
I just listen to an interview with the dev's and they explain the PVE only game they had got boring really fast and knew it was dead in the water. Reather than ditch the project they wanted to add PVP to keep things fresh for players.

You never know they might add it back in at some point, the world is indeed lovely. Would lose something for me personally without the threat of others, but I understand those that would want it in.

Just been a long time coming. I've had a good week. Good watching the game come from basically nothing but the overworld to where we are today. Quite the journey, Glad its seems to working out for the dev's.

Had a quick mess around, going to eat then properly dive in shortly.
Oh, I'm sorry...I'm pretty sure no one on NeoGAF is allowed to talk about, play, or even think about ARC Raiders until I jump on. I thought I read that somewhere...

(I'm allowed to hate all of you today)

I figure I am in the vast minority but I had about 1,000 hours in ARK Survival Evolved on PVE servers and H1Z1 Just Survive PVE, they are my happy place :)

Two hours played, workshop stations built, found a dog collar for Scrappy, made a couple of friends. I think I'm in love.

Have you checked out Vein?

Having played the server slam, I'm curious what the pull of the game is for most. The resources you take out can be used to make items and whatnot to take back in. You can get better weapons by crafting and/or buying them, but those are not safe should you die. The point of the round is to scavenge and escape with the resources to make stuff to take back in. Is it the novelty of "content?" If that's the case, I'd give it a few months before players have exhausted the game, even with 5 maps. I'm not trying to be too reductive. I'm trying to understand the goal. The gameplay loop that makes people excited for it? Even if I don't like something like Apex, I can understand what people are enjoying about it. I want to see what you see.
This.

It may be easy to laugh this point off, but when I found out that if you die, you lose your weapons as well, I had flashbacks to phantasy star online back on the Dreamcast and I broke out in cold sweats.

That honestly would be a massive reason why I'd be afraid to invest in the game; I craft or buy a really cool weapon with the resources I have accumulated over the last however, many runs and then, because I suck at fighting other players, I get shot down and they take my cool ass sniper rifle or whatever. That doesn't sound fun to me.

So any word on gyro controls for the PlayStation version? That would be my deciding factor on what console to get it on.

Only click if you want the scene ruined :)

When you start to breach some guys shoot you and rob you of everything. Dropping stuff on the ground lets you pick it back up and keep it as the NPCs don't take that stuff

Added to my cart to check out later, thank you
Got it. Thanks!

Huge turnoff for a lot of people especially when people will start camping extraction points and kill you just as you try to leave

Personally I wont use my best gear unless I am running with a group of friends in their best gear

The Finals is Embarks other PvP game and it added gyro controls about a year after launch.

Not sure if it's in ARC Raiders today but I expect it to get there sooner rather than later.

It's a poker game where you decide how much investment to risk.

If you want, you can play a stealthy loot goblin and amass vault wealth without risking much.

At some point you'll say "I have 5 cool *** sniper rifles in my vault, maybe I can risk one...I'll just play more conservatively."

Lol not a dev but have been playing the tests for a fair old while. Just nice to see things go well for them, they've put alot of work into it.

Thanks btw. This place rules, gotta spread the love.

I was alt tabbed out and when i got into a game i got a notification bottom right in windows that im about to go in. Neat feature never seen something like this before

Yeah, even tho I should buy it for my PS5 pro I usually prefer the Xbox controller for fps games unless gyro is added. I guess I'll jump in for the Xbox version for now unfortunately.

Damn i thought people gonna be toxic in full release and only kind during test, but i already met several nice people with voip. I started shooting a guy and he yelled stop shooting, because hes naked and i felt bad so stopped shooting. Game is so polished and loving the improvements since the tests

So if you hesitant because of pvp, dont be. You can party up with randoms, using coms or even emotes and not every player encounter is gonna be pvp

Wait until people get bored :)

Dumb dumb question…

If Hell Divers didn't grab me, is this similar to that? They seem similar. But again. Not my typical genre, so I'm curious if I'm analyzing right.

If people wanna group up then @me with your tag platform and region and ill get a list going in the second post.

I did the same in the Battlefield thread but got no takers.

The offer is there.

No. That goes against the whole point of the risk of bringing better gear into a raid.

I'm not experienced with PvP extraction shooters. Do people really go back in with seriously high end and hard fought for weapons, in games like Tarkov? I imagine everything to become trophy display only.

They do. Although personally not if I'm with randoms.

People do all the time. Besides many players will also choose to gear wipe eery time the chance comes up.

You don't always want to bring your best gear, but there's also no point of constantly hoarding it.

Such a disappointment. Introduction raid, every single time murdered by a murder hobo. Last one was camping an extraction point.
What an introduction... Every time I never even shot first, and I used prox chat to explain I have no idea what I'm doing.. But does it help, nah... Pew pew pew, dead. Wtf is this shit

How many players are in 1 raid actually? Even in the most remote place of all time I still see 2/3 people running around.

I would be fine if they reduced it by lets say 50%

If, for some reason, you'd like a neurodivergent older Norwegian gamer on your team, let me know. I'm friendly and chill in voice, unlike my asshole GAF persona.

Had a Mario 64 moment.

First raid topside. Elevator called by some dude. Group of 3 rolling onto his position. I roll into the elevator room as the doors are closing, blast him to being down but not out, and extract.

Mario 64 flip tactics for the win.

Each season you will work towards getting to level 20, and specific items/amount of stuff needed to then send your character for that season out somewhere into the world. You'll lose that character but they go on to set up exploration expeditions.

In you doing so you'll get cosmetic rewards, exp boosts and item boosts for next season, and stash inventory space expanded etc.

Your skill tree and loot you had and more will be reset, but it's all optional. So if one season you don't play a ton and don't care about the rewards you can opt to retain and go into next season without giving up anything.

Allows people who are fine with resets to do so and get rewarded for it, or those who don't want to don't need to and can keep building up their character as is if they play far less.

I haven't watched this video but it's 5 minutes so it should explain it well.

Not bad, but still not a fan to loose anything at all. Will so how i feel when it happens.

I'll collect all the tags and pop them in the second post tomorrow. Be good if we get a decent crew together. Nice one.
