Arc Raiders |OT| Gaming's Next Mario 64 Moment™

I so love the aesthetic of this game. I want to spend more time in the world. I'm hoping that, as the game and IP mature, they inject some slower-paced, narrative experiences that allow for more deliberate, down-tempo exploration and interaction. The world deserves to be savored a bit more than is presently allowable. And for fucksake get that soundtrack on Spotify already.

Anvil is my favorite gun. Wish I had the blueprint.

It hits just like the ferro but 6 shot clip. This allows you to melt arcs.
Yeah the Anvil is still amazing even after the nerf. I got lucky with a blueprint find yesterday!

Tonight i'm gonna change strategy, i'm gonna use the ai voice changer to sound like a robot and introduce myself as c3po, human cyborg relations, nobody is ever gonna shot me first.

If that doesn't work, i'm just gonna wander around with my flaute equipped and playing music, nobody ever kill the bard 🥲

Go with the flute would be my advice C3PO is a cunt, shoot on sight.

Yes the keys tell you the general area.

Btw, the game need to improve enemy variety, like the first thing they need to do right now.

If you go for indoors runs where you just stay inside building to search loot, you only face the 2 balls and the small spiders, maybe a fucking turret, most of them can be killed with melee, this is how much of a non-threat they are, i play this game mostly for the pve part because i don't care about killing other dudes if they don't shot first and i'm already bored of only fighting balls, they need like 10 more indoor enemies at minimum.

And even outside, you fight 2-3 type of drones 70% of the time, maybe some leaper once in a while, the other 2 big spiders are pretty rare and they are group fight unless you are a god or have great\endgame loot (or cheese them with a peek-a-bo style)

I want to kill something that is not a 4 fan setup drone with a gun attached...

In a game like this enemy variety should be paramount but you have like what? 10 type of enemies total? And half of them are super similar...

People are gonna get bored of looting and improving just to fight the same enemies over and over, for now this is my biggest qualm with the game.

In november seems like they are introducing 2 new enemies but they look like outdoor big boys, they need far more of small and medium ones for indoors because right now there is zero tension when you loot inside, especially on solo where most people are friendly.

It translate into a looooooot of dull ass runs with almost no risk involved.

It seems 100% that is what they are building towards if you're paying attention to the story / lore / cut scenes you'll get as you do quests.

Something is coming for an event and it's going to get wild with arcs.

You can find arc robots that are humanoid and act like alarms in some buildings if you walk by them. Destroying the visor disables them.

Safe bet those will be at least one design in buildings that will come.

Also arcs come from the sky… which means what's up in space we have to worry about.

The fact that they thought launching with like 10 enemies and half of them feel very samey\or are not even a challenge doesn't really inspire any optimism in me, ngl.

It's clear that enemy variety is on the bottom list of their priority, the enemy variety is absolutely abysmal for now, i speak for myself but waiting "months" for like 2-3 more enemies is even more of an abysmal prospective, i'm not gonna sweaten the pill.

They need to act now and hard but everything suggest that is not gonna happen, not now or hard.

Literally every other game would have been criticized to no end with such a low enemy variety, i heard people shitting on games with double or triple the enemy variety of this game...

90% of games have low enemy variety. Its a returning problem in all games. Dont ask me why. I dont find it an issue for now and we will get 2 new ones in the coming weeks asswell...

They'll add 2 new ARCs in the November update: Matriarch and Shredder

Like i said, it the game had like 20 different enemies, waiting would be less of a problem, but it is a fact that it feels like you are fighting the same 5-6 enemies over and over and over, this is undeniable, they need to act now before people like me get completely bored of killing balls and drones.

No offence, but i give more fucks about having good enemy variety than whatever bog standard scifi story they are cooking.

People right now are in honeymoon phase but shit enemy variety is one of the things that are gonna be noticed very soon, very, very soon.

Timthetatman just had a legendary solo moment. You should watch when it's clipped to a video, it's one of the funniest multiplayer streams I've watched in recent times.

Hard Disagree, most games have more than 10 enemies types.

There are like 15 different ARCs right now. What they need to do is to mixed them better in groups...Right now is the same arc composition for groups: 2xWasps and 1xHornet
Another issues is that from those 15, only half are easy to approach, unless you are well geared.

You know i'm right about shit enemy variety when they have to include fucking probes and downed enemies that you can only loot or the things that only gave alarm and has no weapons to reach that 15 number of actual enemies :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

There needs to be another large flying one similar to Rocketeer in size, but obviously not rockets for offense.

A few more smaller indoor enemies would be great too. Maybe even similar to the androids you can see on maps.

It's good to see two more enemies being added soon. Eventually I would love for them to have First Wave ARCs as enemies, even if just for a special event.

There's one enemy here that is never the same twice:
The other players.

This is NOT a pve game. If you want a pve effort akin to this play Destiny 1 or 2.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment.

So that everyone knows, I am taking one for the team and putting all points in Survival so I can breach Security Lockers. I am about 16 levels away from completing this task. I will let everyone know if it was worth it.

Sorry, but this is kinda bullshit.

The game is a pvepvp non just pvp, there is absolutely no excuse to have 2-3 enemies indoors that are such of a non-threat that you dispatch them with melee, you literally pass half of your time if not more inside structures unless you are one those type that only wonder outside without ever entering a building to loot, which is hard to believe.

even more of a shitty excuse when you play solo and most people are friendly and you can't force people to be killing machines so you end up having a lot of runs where you enter a building, loot everything and only fight balls, this is the reality unless you are playing a different game than mine, right now indoors you only fight balls as far as arc enemies, no other way around it.

There is no excuse for that.

The game is good and has decent foundations but it has clear as day flaws that need to be fixed asap.

I think my quest for killing two of each of the wasps, hornets, and snitches is bugged. None of my snitch kills have counted.

Brother the game has been out less than a week and you're already screaming you need more pve content immediately.

You can't force people to shoot you but you sure as shit can shoot them.

And no it isn't bull shit that an extraction shooter the pvp is the larger focus.

I will reiterate - YOU are setting yourself up for disappointment if you think this will be nicely even pve content to amount of pvp focus.

In all extraction shooters, this included, the AI is merely a stepping stone distraction and only a threat early on in a reset or start of a season. From there the player base fine tunes and begins to risk more and more to do pvp as that is the focus and enjoyment from longtime dedicated players who will stick with it.

Just because people are nice now on their free loadouts learning the game doesn't mean when week 4+ hits they'll give a shit about looting an arc ball or hornet for alloy and some mediocre ass wires.

Plus, why kill a rocketeer and split the loot when I could get it all for myself by wiping you all out during or after it goes down with some nades? Rather get all the pink items myself.

—-

My 2 pennies. I don't think this game in the long term being a pve experience with lots of quick updates to provide pve content will be there for you.

You have to see the prompt on screen say you got the kill, and I believe you have to extract for it to count.

fucking leapers are hilarious man. Was in a rando squad game and we had all but ran out of ammo by the end, killed every other squad, lots of loot. Extraction called and were all just chilling and joking around at the point ready to bail.

Out of fucking nowhere a leper just divebombs us, knocking all 3 of us down with 0.5 seconds left to spare before the lift extraction comes in. I died instantly as I had practically 0 health left, lost all my shit. My two squadmates died laughing at my misfortune as they limped into the evac 😟

we had practically survived 'Nam at that point and it was just my luck

Disagree, if people only wanted a pve they could play a shitload of other games.

What pushed me to buy the game and i think i'm hardly the only one is the mix of pve and pvp although i'm more partial to the pve part.

I ask more content after a week because i clearly explained how the enemy variety is already abysmal, you think i would ask for more enemies after a week if the game had 20-25 enemy types and like at least 10 for indoors? no i would not do that, how is this so hard to understand?

It is like when people say that a game is too easy, do they have to wait months before talking about lack of challenge? no because it is something that is immediately noticeable after a couple of hours, some people are gonna close their eyes and pretend it's ok but i 'm gonna speak about it, and loudly since enemy variety is one of the most important things to me.

You could be right on my wrong placed expectations but there is no way to spin the fact that right now, enemy variety is dogshit, especially indoors that are not a small part of the game, you could record your next 500 matches and play as unnaturaly as you can trying to disprove me and the footage would still be:

outdoors 70% of fighting the same 3-4 drones
Indoors 95% of times fighting balls, small spiders and the occasional turret

I get what you say but i think you need more than 10 enemies (and half of them feel extremely samey) in your pvepvp extraction shooter.

p.s. I'm mostly mad because they have this cool machine learning ai going on and as an absolute sucker for advanced enemy ai, i would love to see this shit applied to way more enemies, i would be curious to see humanoid robots with machine learning ai etc.

What level / area can you start to expect finding legendary loot? I havent found shit yet and been playing for a minute

I have found three Bettina blueprints. I am close to getting my Gunsmith bench to Level 3 so I can finally craft it and try it out.

Oh yeah? Like which extraction shooters exactly?
This is the first one i play, but enemy variety is enemy variety dude, does the genre really matter? who the fuck like to play any genre with low enemy variety? this is a weak ass excuse.

When people spoke about zelda botw having shit enemy variety did they checked every single open world they played before? i hardly think so, because again, shit enemy variety is shit enemy variety, it's something you notice even without a comparison, full stop.

Let's just stop here since it seems i'm in the minority here and i don't want to ruin the topic, i guess i'm gonna keep my negative thoughts for another topic...

You keep right on telling yourself that Dorothy.
Dont forget to close your eyes and click your heels together while chanting it.

Im not the biggest fan of the extraction genre but this looks pretty good. Gunplay looks punchy

I bounced off every extraction shooter in hours but this has me absolutely hooked. It's easily the best one ever made, and arguably one of the best multiplayer games ever made period.
