Article:
PANGYO, Korea (November 13, 2025) – Renowned Korean developer and publisher NCSOFT unveiled today its new global MMORPG, Horizon Steel Frontiers, at Korea's premiere game conference, G-Star 2025.

Developed in collaboration with Guerrilla (Horizon, Killzone), a studio under Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), Horizon Steel Frontiers is an MMORPG based on the acclaimed Horizon universe.

HORIZON'S NEW FRONTIERS

Set in the lands of the machine hunters known as the Deadlands, the game builds on Horizon's signature hunting-action gameplay while introducing advanced MMORPG systems, featuring deeply customizable combat and extensive player freedom. The title aims to deliver a distinct Horizon experience to players around the world.

NCSOFT has launched the official Horizon Steel Frontiers brand website, featuring the debut trailer and developer interviews. The trailer highlights the world of Horizon Steel Frontiers, mechanical creatures, and large-scale battles unique to the game. In the developer interview, Jan-Bart Van Beek — Studio Director and Art Director at Guerrilla — shared his excitement about collaborating with NCSOFT to bring this Horizon experience to life. Additionally, NC CEO & CCO (Chief Creative Officer) Taekjin Kim and NC Executive Producer Sunggu Lee offered their insight, inspiration and hopes for the new collaboration in the 10-minute gameplay/developer commentary video.

Further details about Horizon Steel Frontiers will be gradually revealed through the official brand website. The game will be cross platform for mobile and PC (PURPLE, NCSOFT's proprietary game platform).

Pretty gurlz? In a Horizon game?

What Wtf GIF

Because as much as NeoGAF desperately wants you to believe it, Sony is not an agenda-driven company.
You live in dreamland if you think they aren't. They are agenda driven (their studios at least). But you can't sell games to Asian's if the women look like western "modern audience" characters.

Did you watch the video? There's no reason this couldn't be a console release
It's a Korean Mobile MMO 101 and believe me when say it, it will be build around predatory progression and monetization practices. Koreans can keep it.

Plus I'm sure the gameplay is just primitive and trivial with a gamepad, it's built around touch controls.

It's hard to tell how on the rails it is because the UI they decided to use

I have no clue how much of what we see is user input

Either way it's hilarious that people were hyped for this game in the Tencent lawsuit thread and it turns out it's just a mobile/PC game

This is what Sony was trying to protect. A shitty mobile game.

They are driven by DEI per Sony

These policies have literally no bearing on business strategic decisions.
PS is at crossroad of fate, my man.

Although Herman stepping down and Japanese taking back leadership is a good sign.

Hermen Hulst has kept his same position, and regardless, the two examples I mentioned had involvement from the division he manages. No one at Sony on an executive level cares about any of this shit.

Looks great for being a mobile. Particularly because it features pretty women instead of andronious orcs. Did finally Sony fired the DEI HR teams and stopped working with the external DEI 'advisors' (censors) like Sweet Baby Inc and similar?

Wait. It's not on ps5?
It's a mobile game

Wow, it actually looks good. The grapple hook looks great.

What happened to the fat Fortnite characters that leaked 3 years ago? This looks miles better now.

It looks nice graphically but even the video was stuttering really bad -and yes I get it's pre alpha, but it's not a great look regardless.

Also worried about two things 1- mmo, 2 - mobile.
The scope should have been small parties like monster hunter, having 20 characters gangbanging the enemy always just turns into a visual mess and your own impact and player expression Is lessened.

it should only be on console and pc.

It being on mobile will hold it back due to design constraints. You can't have too many options on a mobile game because it would fill up the screen, so I'm assuming we'll get like 4 moves at most, maybe some variations and the rest will be automatic sequences that you just press a single button to initiate, and that sucks.

I had to look and see why "No PS5" was trending and lol. And this shit is going to be console exclusive to the steam machine.

Wow, such a blatant clone of Light of Motiram am I right guyz? I saw it and thought so they settled things out of court after all and gave them the license they've been asking for. Nope, Light of Motiram is Tencent, haha. Refusing to work with them makes more sense now. Which one will be better?!

My phone is heating up just by looking at the gameplay. Incredible if we consider that it all started with Snake, java-games and Monkey Ball.
It´s not my type of game (the whole Monster Hunter like stuff), but I wish them luck so that we can finally have a conclusion of the Horizon-games with a part 3.

NGL, seeing people port-begging for a PS5 version of a HORIZON game on Sony/Guerilla's social media feels both surreal and absolutely hysterical.

We are living in such crazy times right now lmao.

Sony lending their IP to an outside company that's making a mobile game that also releases on PC but not their own platform is something :messenger_tears_of_joy:
