Yep. It essentially retcon'ed Episode 2's ending just for this.I mean, they've basically committed themselves to a new Gordon Freeman Half-Life game with how Half-Life: Alyx ended.

Is it really a retcon? I mean, they basically progressed the plot forward for some seconds which resulted in Eli getting saved and Alyx taken by the G-Man.Yep. It essentially retcon'ed Episode 2's ending just for this.
AI. Especially the first one.Half-life 3 leaked images!!!

Better to say it tied in perfectly considering its a sequel. Thats probably the best part of ALYX. They didnt just let it go and ended at a different point, they went all the way to where ep2 left. Though I didnt think its gonna be 5+ years wait...or even more lol.Is it really a retcon? It looks very similar to the Episode 3 concept art, so this could be someone dropping those into chatgpt and saying "Create concept art based of these images but in line with HL:A artstyle".
AI. Especially the first one.
Holy shit, looks real to me.Half-life 3 leaked images!!!

It's Half-Life 2: Episode 3 concept art from this Valve published Half-Life 2 dev documentary from over a year ago. It's toward the end, around the 1 hr 52 min mark.
There is a reddit post from r/HalfLife community that is a compilation of that concept art.
This is in no way anything new or exciting evidence that HL 3 is around the corner.
yesSo are we getting HL3 or HL2: Episode 3?

This makes me yearn for a next-gen The Thing game.

OMG! Geoff said the 'T' word.
Valve owes them after what happened with Half-Life Alyx cancelling at the last minute and they have always been buddy buddy with the doritos pope. Apparently they weren't made part of the event's advisory board until very recently. It is why I never believed in the "tomorrow" thing. If it's not gonna be announced there, it's going to be announced when it's ready to be.Man, I don't want Valve to announce it there, I really don't.
I don't think they will, but then again, Geoff and Valve have been connected to a lot of things in the past. I bet he'd blow everyone at Valve just to get the opportunity to reveal it at the Awards, lol.
Valve originally planed to announce HL Alyx on the GA?Unfortunately, Valve owes them after what happened with Half-Life Alyx cancelling at the last minute and they have always been buddy buddy with the doritos pope. That would be one of my most hyped games if the budget is high and done well. This makes me yearn for a next-gen The Thing game.
On my wish list for ages and thought it'll be cheaper by now. I hope they'll work on the old canceled The Thing 2 game but I doubt it since they seem to just remaster stuff.Literally bought the remaster on Steam last night on sale for $20.
Sorry I wasn't clear enough. After the announcement trailer, Valve was going to show more about the game at the game awards of that year, but those plans were canceled at the last minute. So it makes sense that Valve are going to make ammends by announcing the next game at this year's event.Valve originally planed to announce HL Alyx on the GA?

I actually thought that Alyx lived up to the hype... it could have been called HL3 and it wouldn't bother me. It was a gigantic leap in the experience of that universe, and absolutely incredible in its polish and attention to detail.I have a feeling that the answer to most people's reaction after playing HL3 will be 'what were you expecting then?'
It's just gotten to that status where no matter if it's as close to a 10/10 game, people will say 'is that it?'
I, for one, would be really happy with just a good single-player FPS that continues where Episode 2 (and Alyx) left off. It's been quite a long time since we had one of those, imho.I have a feeling that the answer to most people's reaction after playing HL3 will be 'what were you expecting then?'

Gordon Freeman is 54 years old. In that picture he looks like mid/end 30s.
Try again!
mmmmmmm, They justified making a pocket of time between HL1 and the start of HL2. Even in HL:EP 2 its suggested/implied g-man has been interfacing with alyx as well.Yep. It essentially retcon'ed Episode 2's ending just for this.
