Global figures are very solid, among Steam's best.
The game is very ambitious and fun, with features you don't see in other open worlds. If this had the Rockstar label on it, the discourse around it would be much different. Also the price, it would cost 100 usd + MTX.
No matter the review bombing and the irrational hate from some, the game is succeding because it's good. As simple as that.

We've reached critical mass with the word slop when dumbasses are acting like an indicator for new items is a bad thing.
Indeed. The review bombing was rough on day one but the reviews steadily became more and more positive as people ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME and realized what a gem it is.
Worth noting that it's currently 88% positive on Steam, which is just 1 percent below the beloved Arc Raiders

It's not a souls like.
Its a F2P MMORPG with a real time action combat system. It has coop and pvp.
It can be played as a single player game too.
The game also has a gacha system and a shit ton of microtransactions for cosmetics.
Gameplay-wise the game is completely free to play. But it has a stamina system, in which some activities can only be done a few times per day.
As any f2p game there are mechanics that makes the progression slower. The game has a lot of grind and the focus is to keep you playing until you're enticed enough to spend money on it.
Overall it's not a bad game at all, it has good graphics, a fun combat system and lots of content.
If I had to say something bad about it, it would be about the story. Which has bad pace and it can feel quite disjointed.
The english voice acting sucks.
Also, I played at launch and the game seemed unpolished on ps5, lots of glitches and weird stuff, but those are probably already fixed. On pc things are better.

Can't talk about Yotei, haven't play yet, but I can vouch that this game puts AC Shadows to shame by a long looooooong shot.

Tried it for 3 hours. It's surprisingly competent and fun (and not even predatory if you don't care about the cosmetics), but my god is it OVERLOADED with mechanics and overbloated in UI/UX. Horse-riding is also comically shite.
Combat is fun though, I'll give them that. Plus finally a game on a propiretary engine with good performance.

It's not even a fast travel, that's just a special 'jumping'/'flying' mechanic. There's a traditional fast travel system too, where you pick a point and teleport there.
Good to see it's doing numbers, game is awesome and I can't stop playing it - hopefully the success continues.
