Metroid Prime 4: Beyond | Review Thread

Lol, not wanting a Metroid game to become another mainstream modern western game with quirky NPCs chatter, hand holding and a massive open world map means i want every Metroid to be a reskin of Prime 1 and Super?

So let's make Metroid (and any other game) a reskin of the standard open world slop like the above. Maybe they should make it an annual series and call it Modern Openworld handholding Metroidfare.
You are never getting another Metroid game, I highly recommend you skip this one as well since it has %10 talking.

You keep saying this by merely deconstructing core elements to such a basic level that can fit in just about every game. Like having any "narrative" beyond a prologue somehow meaning it's just like Other M's narrative where Samus wasn't even a silent stoic protag and that was the main issue there to begin with, the different characterization of her. Similarly the issue with having federation interactions in Other M was that they blocked her/the player by simply giving or not giving permission to use this or that tech/ability she actually already had, again a very different approach to merely (re)discovering the tech during exploration and then using it as in this and every other Metroid game (even if she some times has to go back to the engineer to integrate it in her suit or whatever, that's still waaaaaay more like the previous games than Other M). And Prime 3 already had more characters and things like that, possibly even more than what we've seen in Prime 4, though it was perhaps more in the beginning of the game (but still also elsewhere throughout the game) and that was still a great Prime game worthy of the trilogy so everything you say is like Other M could be said as being like in Prime 3 instead, oh no, number 4 has elements of 3, who'd have thunk it, lmao. While also going back on 3 elements people liked less, like now having all these different areas rather than just one but it's seamlessly connected via the desert rather than a spaceship cut scene or whatever else taking you from place to place, oh no, a seamless world, so bad for Metroid Prime, lol. Even 4 having a pre-ending fetch quest deal that you could have been completing throughout the whole game but most likely still have to go back is just like all previous Prime games. Get a grip.
The more surprising thing about Metroid Prime 4 is that i didn't even know that Metroid had so many fans an experts… I am starting to think that Metroid is not niche at this point, everybody is a hardcore fan or an expert now when it comes to Prime 4 opinions.

Yes these guys are fans who will do anything for the franchise except buying the games obviously.

Final boss has leaked already.

You fight him alongside your marine buddies and need to heal them when they are down. You get a huge notification on screen when that happens.

Shit looks retarded. I'm sorry for the most hardcore Prime fans, I know how it feels.

Should have been rated a 6 for that crap alone.

This is another trope of gen Z brainrot writing: the "everything needs to be a team". Lone heroes or main characters are no more. It's all about companions (often self inserts). GOW and Spiderman were also ruined by that. Absolutely abysmal.
Stop Spoling the game… I know that you hate Nintendo, but you are ruining the experience for people that doesn't want to be spoiled…

Nintendo has been consumed.
One (1) contract writer (you don't like the appearance of) in one (1) project at an American (US) studio that's already moved to other companies & projects (that have also already been released even as she left Retro Studios since 2022). Weird definition of Nintendo getting consumed there mate 🤦‍♂️

Anyway, that's not even news, people have been targeting her since like 2023 (indeed after she had already left the studio, lmao). Edit: I found a related post, maybe it was 2024 after all, it's hard to keep track of all the frivolous tabloid outrage clickbait you guys absolutely love engaging in I guess...

But sure, contracting a person for a period means giving full control of the IP so now Samus is a transgender lesbian (never mind it was a Japanese studio responsible for GAF hits like Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, Dead or Alive, Extreme, working with Sakamoto that gave the worst Samus ever with Other M)!

But I'll bite because how low effort it is

61 reviews are 80+ (78% of reviews)
9 reviews are in the 70s (12% of reviews)
8 are in the 60s. (10% of reviews)

Do explain how it's denial to agree with 78% of the reviews instead of 10% of the reviews?

This thread really is just this

I hope you're a bunch of 12yo if this triggers you so much, I refuse believe there are adults with an actual life crying over something so harmless.
You need new material. Every time someone says something you don't like they are a 12 year old, which is rich coming from the Bintendo fanboy. This dialogue is cringe as fuck and you know it.

I'd like to discuss this picture. What's going on here? I'm a 34 years old dude that doesn't touch grass all that often, so maybe I'm a bit disconnected here. Are kids nowadays so dumb that they need to be reminded of using the most basic feature of a videogame and in such an invasive way?

I beat Prime when I was 12. Sure I got stuck a few times but still managed to beat the game all on my own. Why are modern games in general so handholdy? Is it a thing being taught in gamedev schools? Or have people just become dumber with the passage of time and games being how they are today isn't the problem, but a consequence of a bigger one?

Not kids, that's for Jaffe. Feel free to ignore this advice though! It's all just replacing the tutorial pop ups in previous games anyway, but instead of being just an abstract god-menu pop up or automatic opening of the map screen with the next objective marked like before it's also a dude's VA. Omg!

There is a section at the beggining of the game were you meet Miles from the first time, after some battle he joins Samus and literaly 10 seconds after he says, "we should climb the ship to reach destination".

He give you no chance to think for yourself or explore the location ( It was a small arena ) on how to proceed and the NPC spoiled out the "solution" in less than 10 seconds, also, since minute one of meeting him, he wont stop talking for a second "wow how did you do that" "thats a missile expanstion, cool", "let me help"... Peak Metroid Prime experience.

Exactly, I've been seeing that in modern games and it's becoming way more prevalent than it ever should. What's the point of playing a game that gives away all the solutions? How's that even fun beyond pressing buttons and some visual spectacle?

You mean this shit, right? Constant yappin' that brings nothing to the table besides taking you out of the game?

I miss older games man, it's true that less is more.
