They could have made it kino by letting the boss incapacitate them while the battle goes on. You start off with the whole team but have to finish the fight on your own like the hero Samus's supposed to be, ramping up the music as your buddies bend the knee or some shit like that.

But nah, the galaxy wont be saved unless that Makenzie dude returns home safe and sound.
Lmao

Probably would've been considered too hardcore and dicey if they Halo Reach'd the side crew. That would've been cool as shit :messenger_grinning_squinting:

Exactly, I've been seeing that in modern games and it's becoming way more prevalent than it ever should. What's the point of playing a game that gives away all the solutions? How's that even fun beyond pressing buttons and some visual spectacle?

You mean this shit, right? Constant yappin' that brings nothing to the table besides taking you out of the game?

I miss older games man, it's true that less is more.

Exactly that, i just found a mecha that he named Betsy and he introduced to Samus like 8yo would introduce his toys to a friend.."Betsy this is Samus, you know, the super famous bounty hunter..." the dialogue is peak retardation.

That trope never fails to be cool. It's heroic, specially if you wrap up the loss of the crew around some very meaningful sacrifice. Hell people still remember Mass Effect 2's final mission for a reason.

But modern writters just don't have the balls to do that, or maybe it's too much for a "kids game"? But then again, Nintendo used to put gritty stuff in their games with no issue. Ocarina of Time had a few very dark moments surrounding the death of multiple side characters.

They don't know their audience at all. Metroid is for old boomers, I doubt kids give a fuck about a game which last iteration was on the Nintendo Wii. Maybe they do, but if they are already used to playing stuff like Call of Duty then I bet even they find it cringe as hell.

I don't know what animes you watch but I don't remember that kind of cringe in any I have. There's others kinds of cringe, but mostly about old men bleeding from the nose at the sight of some pantie and shit like that.

They really did take darker routes in their storytelling in the early 2000's. One of the reasons why it's my favorite gen.

What also would've been cool had they decided to wipe out the crew at some point, is that it could've given reason and context to Samus being completely alone in a hypothetical Prime 5

Final boss has leaked already.

You fight him alongside your marine buddies and need to heal them when they are down. You get a huge notification on screen when that happens.

Shit looks retarded. I'm sorry for the most hardcore Prime fans, I know how it feels.
Reminds me of DD2. Sylux at the Tower feels like a boss that should be the midgame. Except the game like DD2 just ends.

Also

I feel like Phase 1 is maybe hinting towards Federation Force 2 with it's mechanics which I would actually be ok with if it became a SW Republic Commando type deal.

It's ok Metroid fans pretty much have no choice but to buy game since it's been 18 years since Corruption.

The only thing shocking about all the yapping is that I haven't seen the word "freakin" yet. That type of dialog loves that fucking word.

Funny you say than my man, because I was thinking that the correct way of handling it would be like Daimon in DD:DA. That dude having a pawn-siphoning attack was mega cool the first time I fought him, since I didn't know how to stop it and led to a one on one fight that left me with no curatives by the end. Super cool way to end the game.

Maybe! But is that what a Metroid game should be? Although as a spinoff it could be super cool if it really played like Republic Commando and was as dark as that game was.

As a Dogma fan I undestand. If Netflix released another horrible anime I would watch it just to send the message that I want more DD lmao.

Fuck, this thought is depressing as hell. :goog_relieved:

It's being very selective in which reviews they listen too. But the game is far from the mess some are stating/trolling on here.
I didnt say it was a mess you chop, learn to read.

who says its average? every seems to agree the game is great but things other than actual gameplay like the music could be better.
The reviews I have seen so far say the open world is underwhelming and the new magic powers arent really interesting gameplay wise.

Im not gonna literally list every review. Im speaking in generalities from multiple reviews and reviewers

Ending spoilers ahead. You were warned

Regarding the game it ends on cliffhanger and unless the 100% changes anything Samus effectively is told to strand the Fed Force and Sylux(they restrain him which I don't understand because he is bigger then all of them except Robot) on Viewros since only she can use teleporter. Warps to barren Tanamaar and plants Tree via Lamorn Fruit and walks off. I find the plot very weak and it feels more about Lamorn then it does with any real antagonist. The best final boss in Prime series is still Emperor Ing IMO.

Given the snippets of the game that shows off Sylux backstory there just has to be more to it. Given what we see is fragmented and seems to imply Sylux was in a mass deployment and something went wrong killed everyone but him and Samus and GF were likely to blame.

Problem with Fed Force was the system and controls. Fed Force 2 has potential if they use the same artstyle as Prime games and don't cute it up.

Lastly everything makes me want a Sylux mainline game. Dude has a baller voice too.

As for depressing thoughts there is still a lot of good things but as I said with review concerns this will be a divisive game.

Reminds me of the ending of EDF 5 where they told you to put God under arrest lol. :goog_relieved:

Anyway, hope they learn of their mistake and take the next game on a more serious or darker route.

In it's own way it is a dark and serious story. Metroid fans just expect a whole lot after a 18 year hiatus from the Prime games.

There is some dark stuff when it comes to Lamorn race but when it comes to the stakes with Samus/Sylux/GF Troopers it's underwhelming in comparison.

In exactly the same way Dragon's Dogma fans feel about DD2. There is a lot of good there but there is also so much missing too.

Nintendo did this too with Age of Imprisonment and to keep things short how do you make a war about Ganondorf and not have Ganondorf playable? Tone deaf.

Even the person you quoted acts like he is a massive metroid fan but a few lower reviews and he already decided to sell his switch and buy a PS5, this tells me everything you need to know of these people.

No, actually it's that I have a brand new Switch 2 still in the box it was delivered in, one that I essentially bought just to play this game specifically. It's still in the box because I was waiting for the reviews for this to come out before I decided what to do with it.

But given what I've read in reviews i've decided that there is no urgent need for me to play this game right now and i'm going to stick to my previous plan which was to consider buying one after they bring out the inevitable OLED model with build quality improvements. I mean I wasn't impressed by the reviews of the Switch 2 screen and the Switch 2 specific exclusives are very thin on the ground.

So I'll be returning (not selling) this expensive purchase (for a full refund) and not buying a brand-new full price game for it either, because it doesn't feel like a must-buy at the moment at all. The combined cost of the Switch 2 and Prime 4 at full price is quite significant for a game I am now no longer super excited by. I can play the game in a couple of years. With the PS5. there are games that i'm excited about playing soon and I have few reservations about the hardware or the range of exclusives available now.

This seems pretty sensible to me. How this contradicts me being a Metroid Prime fan, I don't know. But again, you're just instantly going straight to conspiracy theories when simply encountering somebody with different opinions to you. It's clearly an instinct for you. Somebody's saying something I disagree with? Ok, time to try to undermine them with vague insinuations. Because I've done something you wouldn't I can't REALLY be a Metroid Prime fan, can I? I can't REALLY have completed all the games. I am probably being paid by someone to make sceptical comments about a Nintendo game. It's completely embarassing and immature that this is how you react - to immedietly start casting aspersions, slinging mud, making darks hints etc all while providing zero evidence for anything.

I played the games; I loved the games. I was super excited about this. I literally bought a fucking console that i'm otherwise not at all keen on right now just on the possibility of this game being good. Yeah, that sounds like somebody who secretly hates the Prime games, hates Nintendo, hates fun etc. Sure. It's just so insulting when you have a genuine and abiding passion for this series and are also quite excited about getting back into Nintendo gaming at some point. And all these sly insinuations are just because a brand fanboy is desperate to protect the brand.

Here's a proposal: I'll keep the Switch 2 and buy MP4 if you send me the money to cover both. If not, I'll do whatever the fuck I like with my money without it somehow meaning i'm not actually a fan of the previous games. You should VENMO me the lot, as the ultimate mega-fan of Prime or whatever.

Good, you owe me for Outer Worlds 2.

Seriously though, I'm still undecided about this one. Will wait for your impression and others before I decide for sure.
lol... people were saying the writing in Outers Worlds 2 was just as good or better than Fallout NV and you were like "nah". Legend.

The OT is gonna be must read for this game. Could be another FFXVI.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm looking out for. Another game where you can practically see the enthusiasm decline in real time as reality sets in. Hopefully that's not the case!

I'm buying this Friday, everything be damned.

I'd rather find out for myself if this game is playable and whether or not it is actually fun.

Having played plenty of shitty games going back to the 80s, I can't imagine it will be as bad as some of the shovelware I mistakenly rented or bought for the NES.

It's 19 seconds of a character fawning over meeting the most famous ex fed bounty hunter who saves the federation, a planet or two and the universe every other day, game ruined. The 10 minute supercuts gathering all these moments spread throughout 15 hours or whatever will cement this!:messenger_ok:

People don't like what they don't like. They're looking at this and going yeah, not feeling that. I'd rather that wasn't in the game.

Look at you, you're not even saying that you think its good, you're not even trying to argue that it is. You're just sneering and griping at people saying openly what your lack of praise for it reveals: IT SUCKS BALLS. The best you can muster is to say guys guys it only sucks balls for 19 seconds.

Wow, high praise.

Just laughing at the idea all that makes the game a 6/10 because only the 6/10 reviews are right (even when they don't complain about these things and find them fine, but then you just use their score to reinforce the idea such moments are what's wrong with it) and the 8-10/10 aren't because you've decided without playing it which are right and which wrong (obviously the 1/5th is right, the 4/5ths praising it not) yet blame whoever leans positively for doing it also without playing it. Glad you agree I don't lean either way, that means I'm being objective. There's literally no dialogue you could insert or remove there that I'd feel the need to defend or praise, it's a non consequential moment that makes 0 difference other than I suppose keeping that character's personality consistent. I guess I agree with Samus who doesn't give a shit and remains silent like noone's even there 🤷‍♂️
