The Best, Worst and Weirdest Terminator Games [IGN]

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Terminator 2D: No Fate is the latest attempt to gamify one of the best action movies of all time, and there have been quite over the years. So, let's travel back in time and examine some of the many games that have been based on (and inspired by) this franchise, from the earliest console games, arcade classics, and how James Cameron's seminal time travel franchise helped lay the groundwork for Bethesda Softworks later successes like Skyrim and Fallout 3. Plus, how have the more recent movies been interpreted in games?

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines got some official tie-ins, Terminator: Salvation took the assignment seriously with a totally original game prequel, Terminator: Genesys had a mobile game with none of the action the series is known for, and Terminator: Dark Fate kicked off a long line of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick guest appearances, from the T-800 in Gears of War to Sarah Connor in Fortnite to the T-1000 in Mortal Kombat 1. Meanwhile, a small studio with a not-great track record might have quietly made the best Terminator game to date with Terminator: Resistance. And hey, what's up with Terminator Survivors? Well, the future is not yet written. But this video description is, so please, watch the video.

Friendly reminder that Terminator: Resistance is an extremely fun, albeit janky, AA effort. The last game they made before Teyon picked up the Robocop Rogue City games.

A lot of the same love for the IP is there but in a somewhat lesser polished state.

I think it might still be on black friday discounts on all the console/PC storefronts as well.

That game is extremely good, you can see the love for the IP.

I had Terminator 2 for the Game Boy. The puzzle game when you had to hack the second time drove me nuts. Nö continues and if you didn't connect everything right in the short time, it was game over.

Resistance is a must have. I found it awesome from start to finish. Game isn't bloated, isn't fully open world, just the right amount of side quests. I also liked the weapon upgrade system.

You start out as a grunt with just regular weaponry, meaning you need your wits. But eventually you get the tools to fight them head on. I liked that though the progression could've been done more subtle.

Terminator 2 is arguably one of the best films ever made, so it's very odd that it's taken 34 years for what looks like the first faithful (and good!) Terminator 2 game.

Terminator 2D: No Fate from Bitmap Bureau looks fantastic and we're very excited to play it, but what about the Terminator 2 games that came before? Most are fine, but none of them can beat the weirdness of the very first Terminator 2 game ever released. Watch Eurogamer's very own T-32 Ian Higton delve into the inspirations behind the development of Terminator 2D: No Fate and find out all about the history of the weirdest Terminator 2 game ever made, which, believe it or not, was developed in the 5th worst place to live IN THE WORLD!

This video was created by Ian Higton and was originally featured on Eurogamer.

I really must pick up Resistance as I loved Teyons Robocop games.

I play Terminator on SEGA CD yearly.

Great soundtrack, so glad AVGN made me aware of it, I will leave this here :messenger_grinning:

I got T2 on the NES when I was a kid and my god I loved that game! The soundtrack was awesome and the game was hard as fuck too! Now looking back game wasn't great but it holds so many memories for me that I can overlook all the flaws for the fun game it is.
