Geoffs Circle Jerk Trailer

Arsic

Loves his juicy stink trail scent

My biggest question is which muppet will be on this year. Waldorf and Statler roasting Geoff will be a really tough act to follow.

He also just announced Evanescence will be performing at the show their song from the Devil may Cry anime. 😂

I'm glad my only exposure to Geoff has been via Gaf threads.

The genuine loathing people have for him is quite enough for me to never have to watch anything he's ever done.

I've never ever watched a thing he's done, other than seeing a clip of the kid that sneaked on stage.

Thank you for taking the hit for me people.

I just will do what I did the last iteration of this ad-fest: I will read about announcements in the morning after.

If someone genuinely hates Geoff that's a weird dude.

I have 0 hate for him. He took the stupid game awards on spike TV that were low tier MTV movie awards, with stupidity galore, and minimized a lot of the dumb shit.

The show is still whack for an awards show, but which awards show isn't? Oscars are whack, Grammys, you name it.

It's not like when you tune into the Oscar's you'll get a sneak trailer for the odyssey or avengers doomsday. This show provides hype, and lets me know what to get excited for next year.

I know you all love to hate on Geoff, but it's great to have a high-profile awards show, full of trailers, celebrity appearances, music and awards.

It's all done very professionally too. (most here probably don't remember the cringe-worthy Spike TV awards.)

I look forward to the hoopla and it's so much better than the snore-fest of the Oscars.

It's all about the game reveals for me and if I can name at least five games that interested me during the show, that's worth it in my opinion. Don't much care for what games win what though, and I certainly don't watch it live. I'll watch it the next day so that I can skip all the cringe shit.

I haven't ever watched TGAs, but I have nothing against Geoff and I think the level of hate is hyperbolic.

Who actually loses when Geoff does his thing? Developers get some nice recognition, we get trailers.

Give it a watch sometime. They speed run through a lot of the reward stuff with only the bigger ones GOTY, best actor, best audio design, etc having people give a short awkward speech.

The main focus is then on reveal trailers with a few presentations. And then some of the memed stuff they keep doing. Each year has a different Muppet guest, and like I mentioned above last year's Waldorf and Statler roasting Geoff is going to be very difficult to top. Then you have Josef Fares dropping f-bombs. As well as the orchestra playing music from that year's games. Pedro the Flute guy I linked above is insanely talented and goes overboard with his energy and swaps to various instruments through out the performance. Bear McCreary has also made appearances, him playing a hurdy-gurdy was interesting. One of the early years had Deadmau5 performing techno 8bit remixes.

Not everything is perfect, but it can be fun to watch. After the death of E3 it gives devs an annual event to get together and catch up and possible have chats that kick off new projects. One year even had Reggie, Phil Spencer, and Shawn Layden all on stage together to kick off the show. Because while the fans bases will bicker and argue. All most of us really want is just to have fun playing some great games.

Hating on others fills a void for certain people. Not crazy effective at filling the leak but they try.

Why do they want to be Hollywood so much?
"Hollywood" wishes they were the video game industry. Video games generated around 188 billion dollars last year,
the global "movies & entertainment market" (which includes box office, streaming/video-on-demand, digital video, etc.) was estimated at about US $100 billion in 2023.

The whole game awards is cringe, bunch of pretentious asshole trying to use games as a means to lecture people with their political bullshit. Can't wait for the industry to crash, it's long overdue
