EA skate. developer Full Circle undergoing layoffs

Full Circle undergoing layoffs

To our skate. community,

Since launching Early Access in September, tens of millions of you have stepped into San Vansterdam. Your passion, creativity, and feedback have reinforced our belief in what skate. can become. As skate. continues to evolve, we're transforming as a studio. We're reshaping Full Circle to better support skate.'s long-term future and focus the team on the things that matter most to you - and making those things great.

These shifts mean making changes to our team structure, and some roles will be impacted. The teammates affected are talented colleagues and friends who helped build the foundation of skate. Their creativity and dedication are deeply ingrained in what players experience today. This decision is not a reflection of their impact and we're committed to supporting them through this transition.

Our work on skate. continues. We look forward to working with you as we move faster, listen more closely, and deliver consistently for all of you. Our commitment to skate., and to the millions of players who believe in it, remains strong.

To our departing teammates: thank you. skate. exists because of your hard work and dedication to the craft.

To our community: thank you for your passion and trust.

– Full Circle

Game was good for a week or two but has been on a downward spiral after they nerfed XP/credit gain and got greedy with cosmetic pricing. Downsizing the team is not a good sign at all for a game that is still in Early Access with no visible path towards a 1.0 release. They've also recently come under fire for going back on several promises in their roadmap, but I'm not too familiar with the details because I stopped playing after they introduced a $35 cardboard Isaac Clarke skin...

The funniest part of all this is Fortnite is going to add a skateboard game onto its BR map. Get a bunch of celebrities to do collabs, and sell a bunch of skins for decks and wheels, and it'll do everything EA wanted to do with this game lol.

Early Access game that came out in Sep. Steamdb shows tons of gamers playing. Peaked at 135k and maintained about 100k for a month. Though there is a free Demo to try. Then a slow burn. Fast forward 5 months and it's at about 2,000.

Who knows what sales will be when it releases in full, but maybe for some games dont put out an EA too early. Gamers probably burned out from it already.

Those are pretty healthy numbers tbh for a rather niche skateboarding sim, but I still wonder how many people ignored it (or abandoned it) because of it being a free to play early access game with microtransactions.

Yes. My mistake. FTP, not a demo.

You can also buy it outright for $35 CDN. So I'm guessing the real game has way more content than the FTP game.

I played it for a bit and it was definitely pretty fun. But as soon as I started noticing the greed, I noped out. Honestly, it's a shame. If they continued to add more, make improvements, and improve the pricing, I'd go back.

I hate early access from anyone, but it's especially ridiculous from the big publishers.

Shit or get off the pot. Don't look for reasons to invest 150 million dollars in development for Skate, budget reasonably and be done with it.

Skating isn't as popular as it once was. It should've been clear to them that going a F2P live service route wasn't going to work. Sad to see.

I absolutely hate the art style in this game. And the physics are dumb. Every clip I see is just guys skydiving 12000 feet in the jesus pose.

People BEGGED EA for years for skate 4, and they rewarded their loyal fans with fortnite art style f2p early access slop. Maybe the worst monkey paw gaming moment ever.

Anyway I like this demo and I hope the full game turns out good.
