Divinity | Reveal Trailer - The Game Awards

Honestly the announcement is interesting enough.

But the statue marketing stunt is such a flop, dont do that shit for a CG trailer and especially not for divinity, it does not have the brand power for that.

Will be nice when an actual game is shown though

Anyone else notice the lady riding the dude when the blaze was set? That was a real graphic trailer. I didn't mind, but my daughter was also watching it lol

Inusually hate cgi trailers, but as far as cgi goes this was pretty damn wild.

And the above poster noting a slight hint at sex in a trailer as upsetting while a wounded man spewing maggots from his open wounds was burned alive in the same trailer is the most american take in a long while.

It's Larian, trailer has dark vibes that build intrigue given Divinity being more light-hearted...so I'm in.

Edit: This is what Veilguard should've been when they first showed it, instead we got that cartoon-ish slop instead.

I'm almost curious if you played any Divinity games? Where the hell is it light hearted?

Some of the darkest stories and experiences are found in DOS2…

Divinity has always been kind of tongue in cheek a little. New direction?
I hope so. Divinity's somewhat pantomime-y tone was refreshing when it was a B tier alternative to more serious games, but if it's going to be at the top I would prefer it take itself seriously.

Divinity Original Sin wasn't tongue in cheek, it was cringe. Made for Reddit

Miss their older games. Divine Divinity is one of the best games ever made.
The two original sin games buttrape every previous game larian has made. Your opinion (a bad one at that) is not fact.

The BG3 reveal (at a Stadia event iirc lol) was gross as well.

I only played DO1 but it seemed much more lighthearted than this. Still looks promising.

CGI trailers are a god damn waste of time.

This was so edgelordy too, very unlike Larian. Now I do prefer darker less "whimsical" theming, but this was just unnecessary.

Plus I really hoped they were doing a new IP, Divinity is just not that interesting to me (though I enjoyed Ego Draconis).

Do we think Beastiality is gonna push the needle for this game like it did BG3?

It's clear that's gonna be a part of the marketing with "thickness" and a CG trailer with it in it.

"Bestiality" didn't push a thing.
No one in the right mind got into playing BG3 because of "bestiality". Stop being a military grade autistic.

It must be difficult to walk about covering both of your eyes and ears everywhere you go...

it's the only way you could be so out of touch with the world.

Idk why they would go back to action after becoming phenomenally successful since switching to turn based CRPG. I guess it's possible but it seems very unlikely to me.

While it's not impossible that may want to do a different thing, some people don't seem to be aware of the fact that Swen Vincke's preference was for turn-based from the beginning, and the only reason their first games were more action-oriented is because their publishers at the time simply weren't interested in turn-based combat.

This looked absolutely insane and brilliant I wonder if it's a ARPG got very strong Diablo vibes from it but more extreme.

Can't wait to see what it is.

Damn, I'm catching up on all the TGA stuff, watching the full VOD in the background, and when the reveal trailer came up on the stream I actually had to stop from working and focus for a minute. Quite the insane reveal trailer!

Divinity games are 3rd person action rpgs.

Divine Divinity was a Diablo-like hack'n slash but with actual RPG mechanics attached to it.
Same goes for Beyond Divinity (which is a bit the redheaded stepchild of the series and everyone loves to pretend didn't exist), then you got Ego Draconis which was their only third person action RPG.
Then it was the time of Dragon Commander (a bizarre RTS with action sequences) and then they went to Kickstarter and started the Original Sin series.

Yes. The entire reason BG3 swiped all the awards two years ago was bear fucking. Of course, why have I been this blind.

Why haven't other studios/publishers got with the program? Although, Mario does mount Yoshi quite often...

Yeah I only know the from Original Sin onwards. If Larian wanted another top down crpg they would have called it D: Original Sin 3.
It just being Divinity smells like a reboot/reimagining of the series.

I didnt say anything of awards.

It was a good game also, but its popularity skyrocketed because bear fucking, and you know it did thats literally why you used that example.

Bg3 would never have had the eyes on it like it did if it didnt have that moment in its preview.

Why even pretend its not a thing.

Howcome people like you are always so extreme, it has to be the extreme of one or the other.

It can both be a good game but also gain popularity because of the beastiality. Theres literally a thread here on Neogaf about it when it shown originally, there were loads of articles written about it.

And you literally just watched a cg trailer with more animal fucking being glorified 🤣🤣🤣 like i dont get what your brain doesnt comprehend

That was one of the most disgusting trailers I've ever seen. Pointlessly over-the-top gore. Just awful from start to finish. And showing that live, on top of it. Very disappointed with Larian.

Incredible trailer. I'll 100% play this if the gameplay/combat is like Divinity 2 Original Sin. I'll probably not play this if it's like Baldur's Gate 3, I really dislike RNG/diceroll (I know it's a D&D experience but so what? I hate this shit, dice roll checks are a waste of time for me)

Yeah they didn't need to show that. Just the blood would have sufficed. Clearly it was another stunt like the Bear Sex thing, going for the shock value.
