If anything, this thread got me interested in this game. I dig the art direction.
I think OP should stick to collecting VHS tapes.
It's pretty good, and I was shitting on it at the reveal. If there is an open beta, give it a try.

Did you play the last test? There a quite a few impressions from that in the October tech test thread. It was pretty good, but still needed some work.
Some stuff really irked me, the way contracts are set up , prox chat off by default and the game really needed a pregame lobby for randoms to sort their shit out to name a few but it was surprisingly decent.

They said they where just testing the new customisation aspects and the reception to it.
Think that's why its a smaller test, bums me out as I really wanted another bash on it.

Dunno the battle pass and skins, while not important to me, were fucking terrible when we last played. Definitely needed work but yeah, not at the top of my list either.

I dont think it plays like COD or Halo at all. For starters those two titles couldn't be more different if they tried.
Come people like or dislike hit us up with some impressions.

It has Halo type movement and aiming, and CODs healing. Or better, its Apex Legends without interesting movement abilities. The style alone is very off-putting. It looks a like a game from a decade ago. The bland, boxy structures in the game might be accurate lore, but they are visually uninteresting and cheaply made. Most of the environments I've seen could have been procedurally generated.

Its move like a refined Destiny for me personally on the aiming and movement front.
COD doesn't have healing like this?
I get why people don't like the art style, but for me it has a great vibe and doesn't look quite like anything else on the market.
I thought the environments enabled some great battles and were quite well designed with lots of flanking and gameplay opportunities with the different shells and abilities all coming into play.
Shame you don't like it, it really grew in me after a while. Plays much better with a premade though, like most games i guess.
The moment to moment combat was a step above say something like Arc Raiders for example. Gear really mattered and with no safe pockets loot and extraction meant alot more.

It's also not a movement shooter...by design.
If you're expecting a movement shooter, you'll be disappointed because the developers want you appreciating positioning and loot instead. That's the focus.
CoD feels great to play because it has the depth of microfiche film. It HAS to feel good to play because there's nothing else there.

I'll bet you 5 fake NeoGAF bucks it hits before the FY ends.
- They announced the first release date in April 2025, with a short 5 month runway. This shows a degree of belief that the game was almost complete.
- On two seperate occasions PlayStation said they're expecting it before the FY ends.
- Nothing they've added post delay strikes me as requiring more than 6 months.
We get the ViDoc with release date this upcoming week and we do our Star Wars like victory parade for 3 consecutive days after.

The shooting feels very weak like I'm shooting nerf guns, absolutely no joy there. Incredibly ugly looking weapons. I didn't mind the environments, kinda dig the overall esthetic of the world but the gunplay is trash. I shouldn't be surprised as Destiny was garbage too.
Honestly from what little I played of Black Budget, it has me sold already. Guns feel way better to shoot than Marathon.

The tutorial is like 5 minutes long. You aren't going to get an actual feel for the game in 5 minutes.

Definitely has that Bungie gun play, certain folks hate it. I play on a pad and find it great. Unsure how it translates to M+K.
Thought the shotguns in particular felt great.

Fortnite - like every game - has an art style. Some people like it, some people don't. It's subjective. Same with Marathon. Same with Borderlands. Same with World of Warcraft. Same with a Monet. Same with a Frank Gehry building.

I just downloaded BB as I was curious. Man the game feels slow and Janky. Nothing stands out about the shooting at all. It's like they downloaded an FPS template off unreal or something.
Still it's an Alpha, will check it out again when it hits beta.
