Need a short (20-30 hours) chill game

I'd recommend a ARPG, nothing better than a ARPG to chill. Just walking around killing monsters.
So:
Diablo 2 Resurrected
Path of Exile 2
Diablo 4
I would also add
Grim Dawn
and
Grim Dawn with Reign of Terror mod which is D2 in Grim Dawn and it's awesome.

Hey everyone

I'm really in a dark place right now, 2025 was horrible and it ended even worst. I'm looking for a small chill/cozy game either on ps5 or steam, I have a ton of games in the backlog but nothing is tempting me. I've been just walking in circles and doing nothing the last few days

Please let's hear your suggestions
What happened ?

20-30 hours is a short game these days? No wonder gaming sucks these days! Back in my day, 5-6 hours was a short game.

I've been feeling kinda the same... Right now I'm playing Resident Evil 4 and it's got me feeling a bit better. Other than something my bestie sent me

My mom died this summer, had problems with my kids mothers and had to resolve to lawyers to settle it. Broke up with my girlfriend after a 5 great years together. That's just the biggest things that took a toll on me, nevermind the rest
That's super bad, hope you are able to find some peace from playing some good cozy game 💪

Was in a dark place myself at the height of covid when it came on steam, around summer 2020. Its a tad longer than the hours range you mentioned but its very worth it. The game is set in a cozy sleepy small town where you get to meet and befriend wholesome and genuinely great written characters, and solve a big mystery that has befallen the town.

I was about to recommend P4G. I was in pretty big depression when the game came out.

And I swear it helped me lift myself up. I played the shit out of it on the Vita and it hit all the right vibes and nostalgia.

I highly, highly recommend P4 for cheering up!

You want to forget the real world? Get something with an infinite gameplay loop. Trust me i was in your position in 2022/23.

Vampire Survivor with all DLC's
Dead Cells with every DLC
Civilization (with every DLC)
Diablo 2 Resurrected
Path of Exile 2
Project Zomboid on easy
Crusader Kings
Stardew Valley

Etc.

I'd go with Spider-Man 1. Preferably the PS4 version with the superior face model for Peter Parker. I enjoyed it greatly and it says ≈25h on HLtB. The gameplay is very fun, even if some sidequest get repetetive. But the main story with Doc Ock is surprisingly good. I preferred to go more with stealth, but there's also much action in it if you want something more fastpaced.

Edit: I also now remembered Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. They are quite short too, but very good. I vastly prefered Survivor so you can look forward to playing it after finishing FO. There's also a third game in development.

Or Arkham Origins/ Miles Morales for that Christmas spirit

BallXpit and Megabonk are inexpensive Vampire Survivor-influenced games that made hours fly by for me. Constant progression and audio/visual candy like winning the jackpot on a slot machine. I was surprised how much fun both were.

Do you like games that have creation aspects? Dragon Quest Builders is honestly a pretty fun and mostly chill game. A Minecraft knockoff but has story elements to give you a reason to be building.

You got a new cozy backlog, have fun op. Short Hike was pretty good but it's really short, like 2-3 hours? You can play Journey, Shadow of the Colossus or Ico too.

For me it is, I pretty much only play RPGs that are 60+ hours. 20-30 hours is what I'd like, for me it's short.

It's all relative and personal

I was gonna recommend actual short games that are less than 10 hours, but you may not like them since they may feel too short lol.

Would you be up for a retro game?

Of course they are way shorter than 20-30 hours, but Quackshot and Castle of Illusion are two awesome games.

For something more modern (but longer than 30 hours) I'd recommend Judgment. I played it through some hard times and it helped me a lot.

Oh no, not at all. Anything under is fine as well. I've had a lot of great suggestions of games that are only a few hours. It'll be perfect when the kids are at theirs moms and I'm depressed on a Saturday night lol

Sorry to hear that but if you need a quick comfort zone:

Crow Country

Go back to the 90's gameplay of survival horrors with puzles. The combat is not stressing, the graphics feel familiar, it's on sale on PS5 last time I've checked and doesn't overstay its welcome. It doesn't get any cozier than that without being too boring or non-interactive.

off the top of my head

The Pathless
Tunic
Stray
Little Kitty, Big City
Kena: Bridge Of Spirits
A Tiny Sticker Tale
We Love Katamari Reroll

In that case, my top 5 are.....

- Astrobot
- Sword of the Sea
- Journey Remastered for PS5
- Jusant
- Hi-Fi Rush

Both Ori games are very good and very chill.
And since it's Christmas time, if you are in a bad place, know that Jesus really loves you and came to this world to save you.

Very beautiful and peaceful Christmas music:

There's a lot of cozy games being released these days. How do you know which ones to try, buy, or pass by? Kara is here to help. After playing over 30 cozy games this year, Kara has put a list together of 6 of her favorite cozy games released in 2025.

Hang tough OP, that reminds me of the year I had in 2022 when I broke up a relationship of 9 years, my dog of 15 years died and my grandma (my second mom) died. All in the span of 2 months. While I was at a new job that had responsibilities I wasn't ready for. That was the first half of the year, the second half I took some of the worst decisions I ever did in my life and it sucked so much fucking ass until I was laying in a bed in december staring at the ceiling for a whole week, so fucked up to even do anything about it. Take some time for yourself and remember what kind of person you are, keep in touch with yourself. It will get better, it did for me. Hang in there friend. If you need to talk about it, shoot me some DMs.

I don't have anything in that specific time span, but some games to combo or cleanse the palate with:

Donut County
Goat Simulator
Astrobot
Alto's Adventure
Omega Strike
theHunter: Call of the Wild. (I rarely ever actually kill anything, both by design and my own folly lol. I really enjoy roaming around the environments. If you like fishing, there is a version of just fishing.)

I'm sorry you're dealing with so much. I am too in my own ways, so I can relate. Merry Christmas and hugs. I hope some of these games bring you some quiet time and smiles.
