I've been using OLED for TV for a few years now. First a C1 TV that stayed with me for almost 3 years before I switched it up for a bigger C4 (current).
At the beginning I was very afraid but I relaxed later on and didn't get to see any burn in in the C1 before I gave it to my dad. I used mostly for gaming. Now the kids use the C4 too for all kinds of content and I ask them to not leave it on and that kind of stuff but I guess we will see, it's been with us for about a year and a half.
I was running an IPS monitor for a few years and a 17 year old BenQ monitor for my desktop needs. I also work from home (full time) and do gaming. I had the OLED itch but was still kind of aprehensive about it until last year that I got an ASUS laptop with an OLED screen and it just spoiled me. The thought of getting an OLED monitor for my desktop was running around in my head. If they use them for laptops they should be fine for desktop as well, right?
Well, in December my wife gifted me a 32 inch ASUS monitor (QD-OLED one) and I've been using it for gaming for a few weeks and started using it for work last week when I came back from vacation. The IPS was put on the side in portrait mode as 27+32 inches was too much of a head turner and so far it has worked great. It really did wonders for gaming and general applications. If I go about my full working day non stop, it will ask me to do the pixel cleaning process but it takes only like 3 or 4 minutes and while it's doing it I can still continue working on the other monitor.
The screen seems to have all kinds of OLED care features (pixel shift, cleaning, dimming, etc) and they are all on. I still take a few precautions like making sure it goes to stand by, put some rotating wallpapers, hide the task bar and try to move windows arround as much as I can (I'm concerned mostly about my chrome tabs as I'm a hoarder and keep them open for months).
This particular monitor has 3 years warranty for burn in so I think I'll be fine at least during that period. Who knows later but I think it's worth the risk.
Personally, I think your case will be fine as it won't be used for a full time job and will be used for other activities.
