According to a prominent RE/Capcom leaker Dusk Golem despite the fact that Sheva's voice actor been teasing things. There is no RE5 Remake announcement.

RE: CV will be the next RE game to be revealed this year.

FYI for those who are not in the loop - rumors have been going around for a while now that both RE:CV and RE: Zero Remakes are deep in development already and it looks like CV will be the first one to be revealed and released.

This would be great. I never played Code Veronica, hearing how it's kind of clunky and dated, but I'd be totally onboard for a version of it in line with the RE games post-RE2 remake.

i had it back on DC when it came out. Wasn't my first RE. Funny how it's the first RE for a lot of people or they all waited for the PS2 version. Only thing I cannot stand about CV is Steve. He was so obnoxious. Hopefully Capcom can fix that in a remake.

Man, would be great. As much as I love the original, there is so much to improve. Bring it! Also it would be a shame not to use the new Claire model again, especially after they did so with Leon.

Yes!!!!!!

Potential to be the best Resident Evil of all times! Since the material and resource was always there.

While I didn't have as much fun with it as RE1to RE3 along with their remakes.

But unlike Zero, Code Veronica actually have all the stuff that could make it the best.

Cool villains with both Wesker and Alexia, and Alfred.

Cool monsters like the Tyrant, Bandersnatch, Nosferatu, Steve monster, Gulp Worm, Hunter 2 and Sweepers.

Cool setting on an island and an Antarctic base afterwards.

Cool weapons.

Cool protagonist having the Redfield siblings.

My most wanted RE remake out of the remaining remakes not made yet.

Hopefully they can make it fun this time

I do like RE5 a lot but it really doesnt need a remake nearly as much as CV imo (Though RE5 with better graphics and companion AI will be awesome, along with trimming/improving a couple of the shitter parts).

This is actually really exciting because its not something thats as entrenched in my brain as RE 1-5.

I had CVX on Dreamcast, I don't remember if I ever finished it, I definitely played a good bit of it, but my time with it is hazy.

After CV and potentially 5 I wonder if they'll do 6, my guess is yes since they mentioned how RE9 Leon is a "post-RE6 Leon" in the showcase just there. Maybe they'll do 5 and 6 at the same time like they did for 2 and 3.

Bets that Capcom USA will meddle and a lot of 'problematic content' will be changed?
I think that Alfred will still crossdress, but it won't be due to mental illness or obsession. It'll most likely be portrayed as him 'finding his truth', or whatever LGBTQ crap these people say to themselves in order to feel like heroes instead of fetishists. I also fully expect Capcom at interviews to explicitly state how they've consulted with transpeople in order to be certain they treated Alfred's character with 'the utmost respect' (while he was actually portrayed as a fucking psycho) and other corportate mumbo jumbo to appease the LGBTQ movement.

They are most definitely NOT making him a pervert who wants to dress as his sister while fantasizing about fucking her this time around.
A Dusk Golem leak?

Then it will definitely be a Zero remake instead.

Still waiting for the "Born from a wish DLC" that was supposed to be released like 6 months ago.
Or when he said that Leon is going to be in RE9.

Wait ...

Was it also safe and boring when he said that RE8 will have werewolves, witches who turn to insect swarms, zombies who wield medieval weapons and armor?
The "insider info" he ripped off from Gamez.de?

– the rumor that the game had been scrapped and development started over (several times) is wrong

– discussions about the logo design and if the game has an "8" in the title are useless at this point since things can still change a lot

– release is maybe in 1.5 – 2 years

– setting: Eastern Europe or an adjacent country to that area

– village & a snowy landscape

– castle, but it's smaller than the one from RE4

– medieval setting and enemy designs

– not actual werewolves, but wolf-like creatures

– one or more witches will be hunting Ethan

– even though it sounds like the Hookman from 3.5, it's something new

– zombies are wearing knight armor & wield swords

– more action-heavy than 7, closer to Not a Hero gameplay-wise

– director has been with Capcom for a while & didn't change/leave (correction from previous post)

– director was previously a behind the scenes executive producer who directed one game

– maybe you can find out who it is – Chris returns, but with a twist

– no spoilers here, but a hint in the video's outro (no German skills needed to understand it) "No, it can't be! Why you?!"

Even when Grace was revealed and portrayed as the game's sole protagonist? And Dusk was talking about Leon almost a year before the game was announced.

Which was already circulating around.

He also talked about how:

- PS5 cannot run Village properly.
- RE3 will be semi-open-world, with fast-travel option
- RE2 remake will have a switchable static camera mode.

- PS5 cannot run Village properly.
Which, if you watch the reveal trailer, ran on a PS5 at around 5 fps sometimes. And he also said that they would 100% optimize it near the end of the development. So yeah, no lies detected.

I think the devs said in an interview that they experimented with static camera mode on RE2make. My guess is that Dusk learns stuff when they are very early in development, and reports based on what he heard back then. Developers change, cut, and edit stuff all the time and plans change. If you listen to some podcast interviews with Kittelsen (one of MK11's writers), he said that they had changed the main story three times during development, and you can actually see the scrapped/changed ideas in the finished project.

RE3make having a tram system for transportation when it was very early in development and the ideas weren't yet getting shot down due to budget/time constraints doesn't sound far-fetched to me.

Because it used to be my favorite RE game 20 years ago, and the universe seems to like me a little.

His infamous "things change in development" cop-out once the bullshit he spews turns out to be false.

Maybe Capcom had some alien tech when they released RE: Village in 2021 after he claimed its years away:

I love how his name appears FOUR times in the hoaxes section of the biggest RE wiki:

And the list doesn't even feature all his "insider info" that turned out to be false.

I still think his source is someone giving him info on earlier stages of development, but you could be right about him 'stealing' the info from someone else. At the end of the day he seems to have a 50% credibility percentage, so I listen to what he says.

This would be the one time when Capcom pretending the original game doesn't exist anymore would be a good thing.

It's almost impossible to remake CV and make it worse. Almost. Even adjusting Alfred for modern audiences would be an improvement for once, as the original was top cringe.

but I'm not trusting Capcom until I see the finished game

I think it will be completely seriously written with the cringe totally turned off

From memory since it's been eons since I completed the game on PS2. I think there were some design issues with CV where I'd forget to take an item (think it was alloy piece through some sort of a scanner) and couldn't go back. Had to restart the game. Missing magnum and couldn't go back.

Otherwise. Lot of good material that could be taken for the ReMake.

I think they'll just change it to "incest freak" this time instead of "cross dressing freak" with more hints in the game that he's lusting after his sister.

Steve would still be the young guy trying to impress the chick type of guy in horror movies but he'll be cooler this time.

Wesker and Alexia having bioweapon sex together after their battle.

This is a good example of a hardcore game where curiosity overweights the brutal difficulty. You suffer, but you can't stop playing.

My first and favorite RE of all time, but having re-played it recently, it's definitely aged poorly compared to the others. I really hope they don't change the Alfred/Alexia dynamic too much, although I know they will. I feel like Alfred cross-dressing was a clear allusion to Psycho with the mansion on the hill and everything. It'd be a shame to have that aspect of the game completely lost.

I though this was said before

Also, doesn't make much sense she playing Sheva again. Every character have their voice actor changed, and she, for some reason, is the crowning jewel that is having a comeback!?

The actress was just messing around and people fall

Glorious

-Fix the ammo and save point issues
-Dont take any material out. It was the longest classic RE game
-No stalker enemy please
-Give the modern goodness. Keep the weirdness lol

We got the Leon game, now Clairs turn

Code Veronica X was the first Resident Evil game I actually owned. Man, I played it so much back in the day.

I don't really get the hate for it, but maybe I need a refresher. I do remember Steve being a huge dick: "You'll only slow me down" as he runs off and leaves this girl alone, by herself on a zombie infested island.

I thought Alfred was funny, if a bit cringe. I hope they don't mess with him too much.
