Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake - Will Be Announced This Year (Dusk Golem)

Will these remakes be based on the level of visuals of RE9 or should we expect these remakes based on the engine of remakes already released?

Yup - which is why I think Capcom doesn't have the balls to retain Alfred's degeneracy and fetishes. It'll be re-worked, otherwise these Karens will threaten with boycotts and cancellations. And the last thing that Capcom wants is to have these loud minorities treat every game of theirs from now on like Hogwarts Legacy. So they'll back down and re-design Alfred's personality.

Now they'll probably change it to, "Alfred! Ugh, stunning, beautiful and brave as always!"

Followed by the unlockable achievement: "we are all human"

Why would they go backwards?

This was 5 years ago. And he's still at it.

He talks a load of shit. Still waiting for Born From A Wish. He said Leon was the main character of RE9. Was adamant Revelations 3 was coming with Rebecca Chambers. Got story wrong for RE8. Claimed someone else's leak for RE4 Krauser image as his own. Has stated RE9 Leon combat will have TLOU2-isms.

Never mind when he went on damage control for MS because the Xbox was getting too much negativity.

Man is a clown.

I was there when some of that happend but with the same token though he did leak a lot of things correctly about RE8 Village and that it was gonna have werewolves ahead of reveal.

I think a lot of it has too with either changes in development or whoever his contacts are misinterpreted the information that they found or were given and it got lost or mixed up somewhere along the lines. This happens quite a bit when it comes to leaks.

Despite all that though, I don't think he is a terrible source for RE related stuff. Just take some of it with a grain of salt. As for the Rebecca Revelations 3 game, didn't that just end up getting straight up canceled ?

His also not really wrong about Leon being a "main" character on RE9. Just because Grace is in there doesn't mean that Leon isn't a main character, according to Capcom they are BOTH main characters. So I don't see how what he said about Leon is incorrect. He is in the game and plays a big portion of it

The weirdest RE to this day, some love it I don't why tho, it really needs a remake for sure, with some tweaks and better graphics it can be salvaged and get up to standard RE quality

It was my first RE, so I'm sure that had something to do with my love for it. But I really dug the crazy story and action elements. I'm a kid of the 80s and 90s and grew up on the older action movies that were bombastic in the best ways possible, imo, and I feel like CV really leaned into that. It was a fun time for me. Plus, it has the best soundtrack in the entire series.

I do take this with a huge grain of salt. But RE5 is still 'too new' for a remake, and would more than likely be prone to a remaster at this point. Code Veronica still fits in with the classic Resident Evil mold gameplay-wise. I think this and RE0 are much more likely candidates. I also think a second remake of RE1 might happen as well. I think there is a concerted effort to remake every classic 'tank control' RE game as a third person over-the-shoulder survival horror game.

Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes both directly reference story elements from Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0. The development teams clearly went out of their way to reference both games, because future remakes were on their minds at the time. I'd say there is a high likely hood that one of these two games will be next in line. Possibly both are in development at the same time? I think Resident Evil 1 is going to also get a second remake as well before they ever think about RE5.

I can see the remaster argument, but it's also no secret that RE5 has a lot of pacing issues and the scares weren't "quite" there compared to prior entries. A remake could fix those issues as well as Sheva's busted AI which is a VERY common complaint with that game among many players who aren't playing co-op with another person.

Also, it'd be nice if some of the encounters, like the final battle, were retooled to be better. The boulder-punching shit became a meme for a reason, and while it has its place as a comedic moment, it also chips away at what little actual tension & horror the game's story already had when compared to previous mainline entries. Stuff like that just got too goofy for its own good.

RE1 does NOT need another remake, IMO. The Gamecube version is still the definitive remake as far as I'm concerned, and fits the game like a glove. For commercial reasons sure, another remake in the style of the modern ones makes sense, but will it compare to RE Remake how that remake did to the original game, where it was a massive, substantive boost to the atmosphere while adding a ton more content? RE3 Remake cut massive amount from the original and RE4, IIRC, cut quite a bit of content as well (tho not as egregious as RE3). What's to say another RE1 remake doesn't cut out entire sections which were present in the previous remake or original game, while adding nothing to take their place?

I'm not going to disagree with you, because I don't think it needs one either. But I get the feeling it is on the list, just so Capcom can have RE0, 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5, 6 and yes CV as one consistent third person 'over the shoulder' survival horror series. That seems to be what their plans are at this point, assuming the rumours of a CV remake are true. They very well could be. Capcom could reveal the remake(s) during an upcoming Nintendo Direct, for all I know. If they are going to remake RE0, highly likely RE1 will follow.

Please please PLEASE overhaul the ridiculous amount of times I need to backtrack to get an item!
I've probably had to visit the item box more times in this game than all 3 re games before it combined.

Cool. I didn't think Capcom would bother since it didn't sell a ton and had a pretty lukewarm reception. I'm not really a fan of CVX so I'd be open to any changes they made to the remake.

CV is such a special game. All the planets aligned and it was my first RE game that was all mine. I always envied other people when I saw them playing it as a kid. It just so cool and we were a Nintendo family. The nostalgia of seeing this came case just floors me looking at it. I used to stare at this shit. CV was also the first RE game where the characters looks a lot closer to their CG cutscene counterparts. What a game.

This would be the one time when Capcom pretending the original game doesn't exist anymore would be a good thing.

It's almost impossible to remake CV and make it worse. Almost. Even adjusting Alfred for modern audiences would be an improvement for once, as the original was top cringe.

but I'm not trusting Capcom until I see the finished game
You know, they might just keep this one as-is. 😬

They always do what you want, when you don't want them to 😂

messed around with the game for a couple hours today, &, yeah, it's a surprisingly un-fun resident evil game. i remember enjoying it back when, but playing it now? painful...

How are they going to handle the Drag situation? They better not take that out.
Censorship, political correctness and sanitization are expected from modern Capcom, so it's definitely cut or heavily altered content. They'll probably alter the story by having both Alfred and Alexia taking turns stalking Claire from the start, so this means that Alexia won't be asleep. The easier route would be to just remove the cross-dressing and keep the story mostly the same, although they'll probably write out Alfred's obsession with his sister completely aswell. I'm sure they'll coverup Alexia's mutations too. SMH

"PLEASE deposit ANY metallic ITEMS you have, IN the security box".
The item overload in CV was something else.

Why in an Nintendo Direct?

Not many other options for Capcom. What else is there?

- Playstation showcase (also likely)
-Tokyo Game Show
- Gamescom
- Summer Games Fest
- The Game Awards (too late in the year)
- Drop trailer online and hope it doesn't get lost in the mix

I'd say Nintendo Direct seems like a big platform to reveal a Code Veronica Remake (or Resident Evil 0?) trailer.
