I know what you mean. To me game like AC Shadows is still some way ahead of it.
PC gamersWho the hell has time to play another 300 hour RPG in the fall when GTA is out.
FH6 looks on about the same level of "lameness" as Fable I'd say so what should we be considering here?Fable looks so lame in general but especially graphically when you consider the same studio is responsible for FH6.
I was not impressed by the hdr of ragnarock on ps5 so maybe 2018 is better.I'm replaying GOW 2018 on PC right now (120fps, DLSS4 etc.) and holy shit HDR in this game is striking, amazing contrast and use of colors. Why so many games are washed out using HDR? Devs are so afraid of high contrast...
I only completed base PS4 version years ago.
FH6 (so far) lacks edge, and lacks a certain underground feeling for what they've shown so far of it's night and city races along with the drifting circuits.FH6 looks on about the same level of "lameness" as Fable I'd say so what should we be considering here?

I was expecting more after reading that the hdr was a masterpiece. Can you explain in more detail please?

Hfw on pc had much more impressive hdr.
Are we looking at the same game?

I know you allready retracted this statement but i still would like to comment in that.Horizon though? last gen garbage. get this cross gen shit out of here. they took 5 years and made DLC. Same lighting, same foliage quality, same car models, weather, etc as FH5. Forza 7 to Forza 8 was a bigger leap than this. And MS shut that studio down.
Was crazy bitch 2 successful enough to warrant a sequel already?I know you allready retracted this statement but i still would like to comment in that.
The jump from FH5 to FH6 is not going to be as big as from FM7 to FM(8), and it should not be any suprise. Afterall FM7 was terrible in terms in track assets...those cardboard trees looked like in Richard Burns Rally. So yeah, the leap was substancial but thats partially because old game was very outdated.
FH5 on the other hand still holds up very well. Id argue that good old FH5 actually looks better than new FM, and quite possibly is still the top looking driving game today. So theres simply less room to improve given the hardware its running on.
Afterall, if Hellblade 3 was announced on current gen consoles, we wouldnt expect as big leap as from HB1 to HB2.
It looks awesome. The only thing that stood out to me is how empty Tokyo is in the game. I understand that Forza is a racing game and its not like a GTA where you can run over people but it looks weird nonetheless
Are you using the RenoDX mod? God of War has really bad HDR out of the box. extremely deep-fried. That said, people seem to love that look, so who am I to judge. But it's all out of wack.

Fable is solid, but way too fucking close to GTA6. Who the hell has time to play another 300 hour RPG in the fall when GTA is out.
Plus its going to have the Ghosts of Tsushima/TLOU 2 effect where I played TLOU2 right before Ghosts and as a result, ghosts felt like a PS2 game.
I do because I don't really give a fuck about GTA6.

Yep. GoW 2018 had stunning HDR. More striking than Ragnarok imo. First game I played on an OLED.
You mfers are the reason some devs just crank the contrast, crush the blacks, and deep fry their games instead of putting any effort into good HDR. God of War's HDR on PC was an eyesore without community fixes, and I played on a high-end OLED. I will suffer no more of this insanity.
I played it on the PS4 pro and then briefly on the PS5 when they patched a 60 fps quality mode, but I always thought it was a beautiful game that used colors extremely well. I completely see where boji is coming from. A lot of games have this washed out look on PCs forcing people like Ravion to use Reshade in virtually every game. GOW was very colorful and everything just popped. I was on my KS8000 when it came out and it was one of the few games that really popped off the screen. Horizon ZD, Ratchet remake, Uncharted 4, AC origins and GT7 all looked absolutely stunning on that tv while so many other games just looked flat. You mfers are the reason some devs just crank the contrast, crush the blacks, and deep fry their games instead of putting any effort into good HDR. PC gamers
I dunno man. At the end of the day I'll concede HDR is such a mess that people should just configure it to their own liking (extremely subjective), but I really didn't like this implementation. I'm not one to obsess over getting HDR technically "correct" down to every last detail, but I hated the overcooked contrast and auto exposure.I played it on the PS4 pro and then briefly on the PS5 when they patched a 60 fps quality mode, but I always thought it was a beautiful game that used colors extremely well. i feel like this series has always had this sterile look. Regardless of the country its set in. Everyone and their mother jizz all over the visuals but ive always felt like they are lacking something. I attribute it to lighting, but i think its the art style. their artists are good at copy pasting different locales but they fail to put in that extra artistic touch that makes art art.FH6 (so far) lacks edge, and lacks a certain underground feeling for what they've shown so far of it's night and city races along with the drifting circuits.
They are making Japan feel a bit sterile so far, which is something I thought impossible. Usually for any game, Japan's setting is a cool factor boost.
It's hard to explain, but it's like they're forcing Japan to fit into Forza Horizon's rigid square outline, rather than bringing Forza Horizon to a pre-existing Japan/Japanese culture. For me this issue has persisted since Forza Horizon 3, where it felt like a random giant mass of land filled with tons of event icons that they decided to call 'Australia'.
I would say these same things if they presented Las Vegas the same way they just presented Japan in that direct.
I liked how Fable looked though.

Their second team that made Fable gets this. What a unique looking stunner.
Sound more like you convinced yourself about the game being incredible long time ago.lmao you guys always do this. Fable will look amazing and blow everyone away when you all play it on your expensive PCs and OLED tvs. I dont forget how you all did the same thing with Avatar, Alan Wake 2, Star Wars Outlaws, AC Shadows. These games dont preview well on youtube when gameplay is shown. It's been proven time and time again. The tech is there. The asset quality is there. The beautiful art style is there. it will all come through when it launches.
This is not the same as Ghost of Yotei or Death Stranding 2 because those games were lacking the new tech. Using last gen assets, last gen lighting, last gen geometry. Fable isnt. Yes, it was downgraded but bookmark this post and call me a bitch if it doesnt end up topping AC shadows when it comes out. The CG look and feel it has is simply not present in AC shadows and the art style is simply beautiful. It will lose GOTY to GTA6 because nothing else will come close to GTA6, but i am a 100% sure it will beat AC Shadows.
Again, bookmark this post.

i only do that with games that look next gen. ive never been wrong about those particular games, but you guys always do a 180 when you finally play these games.Sound more like you convinced yourself about the game being incredible long time ago.
Sometimes you do that with some games.
I always prefer to be skeptic.
I think thats your mental GPU doing a lot of the heavy lifting and filling in the blanks with hope regarding Fable. I do this often and almost just as often come back disappointed. At present there is nothing decidedly next gen about it, hell select pictures of Avowed (possibly your own) rival anything shown of Fable visually.lmao you guys always do this. Nah dude, we were all excited when we saw the reveals of avatar or outlaws or gta6 or hb2 etc or stuff that looked clearly nextgen.i only do that with games that look next gen. ive never been wrong about those particular games, but you guys always do a 180 when you finally play these games.
Forza Horizon 6 didn't look miles better to me than FH5, but FH5 still looks incredible today. The dev blog said the PC version will have extra Raytracing options too, it'll be glorious. My main issue with Forza games is still shading on the cars, especially on lights, the way they handle fesnel etc is so basic and always has been. Those small details really help the cars feel grounded and real in the enviroment, everytime I see the lights on the Forza NSX my brains like, yup, it's a car model in a game with badly rendered lights, while GT7 it just looks natural and rightAre we looking at the same game?

you guys do a 180 when the game gets closer to release and more and more gameplay is show, especially during the preview stage where youtubers post lengthy videos and you are all like this looks like garbage. i have fallen prey to this, most recently with AC Shadows' previews a month before launch after holding strong for a good 6 months after the first reveal, but i promised myself never again.Nah dude, we were all excited when we saw the reveals of avatar or outlaws or gta6 or hb2 etc or stuff that looked clearly nextgen.
I think we were all positive for the first 2 trailers of fable aswell.
You have been wrong, like everyone else in here and not everyone does a 180 every time, you are generalizing a lot.
Your comments on the combat (that 95% of gaf consider bad or ok at best) tells me that your optimism is clouding your thoughts a bit.
I can sense when you are overly optimistic about a game after so many years of interactions with you, and we all have our protegees, i'm not saying it like something negative.
Also, This trailer was way too blurry to have certainty of nextgen assets like you said, i saw something here and there but i also saw some shit textures aswell.
To me Forza Horizon 1 had a very unique feel to it with constantly racing through canyons and on cliffs with a bit of an orange color grading added, and this is coming from someone who first played it last year so no nostalgia added.i feel like this series has always had this sterile look. Yeah. I see nothing of interest in these screenshots, they look about the same as FH5 - and certainly not in any way better than what was shown from Fable. Are we looking at the same game?

This. Was very impressed with the reveal but so much this.
Was thinking maybe they could have had groups of NPC's line the streets behind bollards just to help make the world feel alive. Hopefully something thye can consider in their next game.
I think it looks good but nothing special.Come to think of it, Fable really reminds me of Hogwarts Legacy, visually. Which is fine but nothing special.

Yeah it's basically their deal with past forza games all over again(not too sure about fh6 tho, seems a bit better or shall we say, less obvious?)What really annoys me is that they are trying to hide the shitty draw distance and LOD with fog in almost every scene.
Look at the green hills in the distance in the 2nd screen, it's literally a green texture, zero grass etc.
What do we think fellas??
