Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

IGN's Logan Plant discusses his recent time playing the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Resident Evil Requiem with fellow IGN Nintendo superfan Brian Altano.

Vaseline filter, like, literally.

Definitely not 60fps from the footage, despite what the guy said. Maybe the footage is laggy ? I don't know.

He was told it's 60FPS, it's not like he looked and made a call.

It looks fine, I don't get why people hate the Switch 2 so much. Get on with your life.
It's a mobile gaming system that can play an upcoming AAA game at a decent level. It's damn good performance. It comes at a cost, but oh well. I think I'm going to be buying this first on Steam, then double dip on Switch when the mega bundle of 7,8 and Requiem is on 50% sale (you gotta know Capcom).

I remember playing Starfox at less than 30fps and being blown away... nowadays people expect perfection, and bleeding edge performance in everything. I know the Switch 2 is full of compromises, but it's actually pretty interesting how they navigate those compromises, because Cyperpunk is crazy good, SMKW is amazing looking, etc. I feel that the games are only going to get better looking on Switch 2.

Switch 2 is the new Series S...but actually threatening.

EDIT- I actually enjoyed the Series S, until Microsoft went 3rd party.

I think they are mainly PS5 users who have been humiliated by PC gamers throughout this generation due to the blurriness of UE5 games on PS5. Now, with the Series S dead and no one caring, they have to take it out on the Switch 2.

That and the fact that no one can even see an upgrade in visuals this gen.

capcom almost always targets 60fps.

all that this means is that there's no 30fps lock. that's normal for 99% of RE Engine releases. REmake 3 also targeted 60fps on last gen for example, but was more like a 40fps game, with moments that hit 60fps... which was fine on One X of course because it has 120hz VRR support, but wasn't that great on PS4 Pro which had neither.

so in handheld mode, if Capcom runs the system at 120hz with proper LFC, it will be fine. on a TV due to the lack of VRR support, probably less so.
hopefully they at least let you run it at 120hz docked as well, as that will reduce the perceived stutter

I respectfully disagree. I think majority of ps5 owners are not like that. Its common sense for Ps5 owners that a $2000 to $4000 worth of pc rig will be superior. Going back, its a decent port, but for me if you have both ps5 and switch 2 , I will prefer the console version especially if you have ps5 pro.

It blows my mind that some still act like Switch 2 owners aren't ok with getting downgraded visuals or have less performance options. No fucking duh retards. I don't expect RE9 to look the same on my PS5 and 4k tv (sold separately) than on my Switch 2 in portable mode, on my back patio while I have football, basketball or hockey outside.

Helena!

(Sorry, playing RE6.)

30? That was one of the best 15 FPS games ever released for SNES.
Yep, that's why I said less than 30fps... but you know my 12 year old self was saying that it was the most amazing thing I had seen, and I couldn't believe my SNES was doing this. LOL. Those were the good times, when my friends would visit, and get their minds blown by a barely moving slideshow (that was a game), instead of pixel-peeking, and being thrown into fits if a game dips below 60fps.

I was actually hopeful that with the Switch 2, Nintendo and 3rd Parties would consider locking games at 40fps, because that looks much better than 30fps, and also a bit better than 60fps that isn't constant. 40fps would also have the added benefit of better battery life.

And why doesn't common sense apply when comparing a 10 watt handheld to a 200 watt console?

What is important is Capcom is making sure all versions from will be great. Each has there strengths. PCMR will have there well deserve Path tracing especially with those expensive pc rigs. While PS5 and consoles will have decent RT and 60 fps especially on Ps5 pro. Switch 2 will have a decent frame rate and IQ, for casual portable gamers.

I wonder if there'll be an option to lock it at 30. 60 appears a bit too ambitious for the hardware judging by all the footage so far.

going by past RE Engine games, probably not.
and you probably wouldn't want it either, as afair most of the games that had a 30fps lock had really bad framepacing. so unlocked or locked would both give you stutters.
unlocked at least gives you a bit more smoothness and lower latency

So, it is 30 or 60fps on Switch 2?

Well, some people don't want to be deceived by a "superfan". Remember "superfan" Colt and when he played Redfall is 4k/60 on Xbox before anyone else? Yeah, we know how it turned out

Threatening what, exactly?? 🤦‍♂️😂
3rd party focus. Especially in Japan. PS5 never reaching it's full potential because from a graphical standpoint development will be targeting looking good on the Switch 2 first. To the graphics whores, they'll always grit their teeth because they're never going to escape the fact that developers will be factoring in developing games for the fastest selling system ever, which is currently not a Sony system.
