FF is a weird franchise by design, if anything I believe we need to go back to the PS1 era were we got new mainline games every year, I think getting FF17, 18 and 19 with the same release pacing of the FF7R series would be ideal for todays age. Why? Because FF values experimentation a lot, you have FF 1 to 3 with a certain vibe, FF 4 to 6 with another philosophy, then 7 to 9 being an era, 10, 12, 13 and 15 being their own beast, a few MMOs too. So there is plenty of room to someone find their personal favorite among so many gameplay systems and writers. Now with modern development taking ages if you dont enjoy a certain FF game youre screwed, bc the next one might be a decade away... So if they get more games coming faster it would be for the better.Real talk for final fantasy vets, is there even one good final fantasy game? I've tried x, x-2 on the vita and 7 remake, Rebirth and 16 on the ps5. I've never been able to finish any of them because the story is not that interesting and the gameplay loop couldn't carry for me.
Maybe it's just me but I feel like this franchise needs to rest for a long time.
IMHO, a Final Fantasy game 'needs' to have 4 things:Real talk for final fantasy vets, is there even one good final fantasy game? I've tried x, x-2 on the vita and 7 remake, Rebirth and 16 on the ps5. They weren't optimized when only releasing on one platform.I wonder if this means that the games will be less optimized since they have to make sure the game is rdy for all the platforms instead of just focusing on playstation and than pc
FF7: ReunionIt will be called Reincarnation. Only subtitle that makes sense to me.
They weren't optimized when only releasing on one platform.
Both Rebirth and FF16 were clearly designed around the Quality Mode and the 60 fps mode was tacked on at the end.
"Optimization" in this case is basically whether they end up downgrading the Fidelity to both get it to run on Switch 2 and to keep the native resolution a bit higher on PS5/Series X.
Which game offended you more, Remake or Rebirth? Can't wait to not play it on any platform. Not falling for this a 3rd time.
This is satire, right? Sarcasm? Some kind of Sony humor I don't understand? PLEASE tell me it's one of those three.Square-Enix just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase FF VII Remake part 3 for either system, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.
Square, publicly apologize and cancel FF VII Remake 3 for Xbox, Switch 2, and Steam, or you can kiss your business goodbye.
Oh really? Well it makes sense to do it that way and honestly I don't really see the point in Sony even doing timed exclusives anymore. If Xbox failing has hurt devs in anyway it has to be the fact that they no longer have Xbox and Sony competing for 3rd party deals as much.Nate confirmed on ERA that this was only a prediction.

Thank fuck. It's satirical. It's the literal text of a fan's comment that went viral and is now a meme.
Yeah, this makes sense - it seems like Rebirth will release mid-late 2026 on Switch 2, and if that happens, it makes no sense if they are planning on releasing Part 3, like, two years later.Nate confirmed on ERA that this was only a prediction.

Ancient copy pasta of some dude's meltdown when Final Fantasy XIII was announced for Xbox 360Great news for a PC owner like me. I was dreading the media blackout I would have to endure until it comes out for Steam.
Assuming of course, it's true.
Definitely my favorite FF games. Amazing visuals. Excellent characters. Terrific gameplay. Sublime music. Great action set pieces. Incredible bestiary.
Just a little cringe with a few NPCs, but no one and nothing is perfect.
Day fucking one. I just hope I'll manage to have a 6070 Ti Super by the time it comes out.

Good. They should've been doing this Day 1 with FFVII Remake.

Longtime fan here. Everyone has their own opinions about which are the good ones, which are overrated, and which ones suck. Personally I'd say 6, 7 (NOT remake), 9, 12, and Tactics are the top tier.Real talk for final fantasy vets, is there even one good final fantasy game? Series might not just be for you. I thought X, 7R, and 16 were all amazing. Rebirth was good to but my main issue with that one is the story just kind of went nowhere which apparently happens in the original 7 but to me this would have been a good opportunity to clean that up by just removing that section and completing the story or doing something interesting with it.Real talk for final fantasy vets, is there even one good final fantasy game? Interesting that they didn't have any pre-emptive exclusivity contract on Sony's part, or maybe Square paid it off or something to have the game launch simultaneously, if true.
Square-Enix just shot themselves in the foot.

I'm concerned about the potential mammoth sized filler.
Fair, I gave it a shot I guess.Series might not just be for you. I thought X, 7R, and 16 were all amazing. Thats right, the middle of FF7 og gives a lot of character development to the cast with some side advenctures, kinda helps you to learn about the world. It works when youre experiencing it as a 1/3 of a complete game you already own fully, but as a sole entry of a trilogy it can feel like that.Rebirth was good to but my main issue with that one is the story just kind of went nowhere which apparently happens in the original 7 but to me this would have been a good opportunity to clean that up by just removing that section and completing the story or doing something interesting with it.
Yeah, by the time Part 3 comes out, they'll have mechanics for airships and exploration, battle system with party member swaps, etc. It'll be a waste to not used these resources ever again. Square needs to use FF7 Remake trilogy as the mold for the future games in terms of gameplay and exploration. Less expenses, and they will also manage to keep their fanbase and not keep them guessing on what game FF17 is going to be and how it's going to play.I'm hoping after Part 3, they use this mold to create a FFXVII.
I think the main issue with the Remake trilogy is the baggage. I know people will hang on to UE4 and what not, but the gameplay, world, visuals and music is top notch.
They could just do "total conversion mods" for Part 3 and milk it for a decade. Just give me a new story, a new cast, new music and world and you pretty much done. It's probably easier said than done, but I don't think starting with a new engine from scratch is going to cut it. I bet they'll try to migrate their custom tools to UE5 and lose a year or two there. But man, imagine running around a big open world with a black mage, white mage, warrior and thief. Maybe they can finally capture the magic of that FF III cgi intro:
