Unfortunately TGAs are a popularity contest and most websites/journos will vote for GTA.
I dont see GTA losing a popularity vote for GOTY, though im sure a bunch of websites will still give it to Crimson Desert.
But unless I get another deep dive on GTA this game looks borderline fake.
Like if someone was to describe the game to me id say that just sounds like some kids wild idea for a game.
Meanwhile looking at it.....im like damn I might actually skip GTA this year to play this instead.
<--------Skipping GTA this year cuz he is PC only.....but let him have his small victories.
It actually is mechanically deep, and if you check out some recent interviews about it, they actually had to tone down the complicated controls a bit from last summer's demo because mainly FGC-types like Maximillian were able to fully utilize them correctly, while other outlets considered it a negative.
In his coverage video Max even started using fighting game terms to describe moves from the demo because they required too much dexterity to pull off.
Combat looks fine, but what could really ruin this game is if it's repetitive. A map full of bloat, boring quests and stories. Let's hope it's not that.
