Have you ever looked at your younger days or just remembered games that were never really popular or even games that were poorly recieved but for you they were fun or interesting as a kid? My list would be too big quite frankly but here is one PS1 title that released in 1996 that I wouldn't mind if the a similar idea or concept was to be revisited in a modern day.
It's a game called Firo and Klawd where you played as animals in somewhat of an isometric view. It was an action co-op shooter and you and your friend could play together as either of the characters at the same time.
Firo is a police/cop orangutan meanwhile Klawd is a criminal who stole counterfeit money and worked for a crime syndicate. Firo captured Klawd because of the bounty on his head and now they are both forced to take down the crime syndicate.
I believe the game generally wasn't very well recieved. But as a kid you didn't care about those things and I was 6 years old at the time. The games were either fun or not for you. However, even if the game was generally poorly recieved that didn't mean it didn't have good ideas.
An action co-op game where you played as an animal and fought criminal animals just seems like a goofy but fun idea. Games like that don't really exist these days. Here is some gameplay footage, obviously its super dated but its nostalgic to me lol.
