Xenoblade Chronicles X - Switch 2 Edition Trailer (Upgrade available now for $5 for existing owners; Physical release on April 16)

It's a pretty massive difference.

I can't even imagine playing it the original way.

The performance issues really got to me in Xenoblade 2, so much so that even though I liked the game, I've never finished it despite several attempts. It just doesn't feel good. So yeah, seeing the trailer for this where everything just looks right has me super optimistic for the future.

The Switch 2's game lineup might be godawful right now, but the Switch 1 games getting improved like this is an absolute godsend.

That's exactly why I dropped Xenoblade 2, as well. I wanted to play it after so beat the first one, but it was just not a great experience.

I'll definitely re-visit with an upgrade.

Waiting for Xeno2 mostly! But I am not suprised this is first since it is the most recent and probably easiest to upgrade. I hope they get to the others too.

I only played Xc 1. I got maybe 40 or 50 hours into it but then I went on a long vacation and when I got back all the systems felt foreign to me and I just kind of dropped it. I figured

I think I'm gonna just sit on one through three until they have upgrades and for now play X. It's my understanding that one through three are basically the main line games and X is something completely different.

God is real and he loves us.

Purchasing now.
Allah is good and great. He delivered us this gift, later we get MGS4 remastered, and soon Bloodborne.

That's my understanding, too! X is its own thing.

I beat 1 (excellent game), but haven't played 3 because I dropped 2.

I'll definitely beat 2 and 3 once the upgrades are released.

Is the upgrade for xcx: de only? That's scummy if so it doesnt upgrade xcx

The original Xenoblade Chronicles X is only available on the Wii U. Definitive Edition is the Switch 1 version.

Also, if anyone hasn't picked it up yet, the original Switch version is on sale for $39.99 at multiple retailers right now. Sadly, Amazon only has the digital version on sale with the US physical version sold out, but I was able to get the physical version at Walmart just now for that price.

So $45 with the upgrade instead of $65.

4k and 60fps added - available now (5$), physical version launches on April 16th

I will FINALLY, GLADLY buy this game now for my Nintendo Switch 2 after holding out literally for years in hopes of this very moment(a better, updated version coming out).

Going in mostly blind. Do I have to play any other games in the series to understand this one? Cheers!

Ok. Sell me on it.

Xenoblade chronicles 1 I completed and it was a slog…. It did not hold up. I think I gave it a 6/10 because combat was mindless, the middle of the game felt horribly paced, but the ending made it worth going through.

XBC2 I'm maybe 15 hours in and put it down. Just not feeling it at all.

Would you say this is better than those games in the narrative and pacing department? Is combat more engaging?
I was about 65% through xenoblade chronicles 2 and quit it, due to an annoying boss fight, and also I had been feeling quite frustrated with the game and that particular boss fight was the last straw.

I still have xenoblade chronicles 1 unopened. Wondering if I should start it, since xenoblade chronicles 2 left a bad taste in my mouth.

Did you prefer 1 over 2?

It should be its own thing but I don't know how the new ending ties itself into the series. I guess it is time for me to find out since I've been waiting for this update since June of last year.

Idk that I prefer either. 2 has better combat, visuals, and systems.

1 has better characters from what I saw, and again the story pay out was what saved the game. It has dull combat and bloat galore.

I wonder if Xeno X remedies any of this?

I'm ok to have more Switch1 games get a proper upgrade and S2 version. So much I hadn't played but even better if the upgrade is...free. ideally.

Like, I don't really care for anything Switch 2 exclusive right now. Great for backlog.

I am about 2 hours in with xenoblade x, played a little when it came out and revisited tonight on switch 2 with the upgrade. So far, feels different from Xenoblade 2, but it's really too early to tell. X definitely leans more sci-fi, which is right up my alley.

I'm genuinely fine paying for the upgrade if it's something substantial - at the end of the day, I just want these re-releases to be the best they can be.

But yeah, I'm kinda in the same boat where, especially towards the end of the Switch 1's life, I just didn't bother playing games that I would otherwise have definitely liked, because I knew the performance would be abysmal. Stuff like Xenoblade 3 and Astral Chain. What I didn't expect is that these sorts of games would get so thoroughly reworked for new hardware that it's practically an entirely different experience. This is just really cool to see.

I played this last year and it took like 90 hours to finish, I'm not in a huge hurry to replay the game just yet.

That being said, I'll definitely be picking up that physical release

I'm actually glad I put it down to work on other games / stare into the abyss. Now I can do most of it in glorious 60fps lol

dayum thats smooth.

If I had known I would have to wait exactly this long for 4k/60 I could have waited.

But not knowing how long and just having XCX right there would have been too hard, I would have cracked.

It's too soon for a replay so I'll give it a year or 2.

Me today on GAF:

- *Nintendo announces Xenoblade Chronicles X WiiU Edition 2nd iteration*: Oh nice, they finally do something not tone deaf, maybe they realized what absolute shit show they've been giving since the S2 launched and learned how to read the room

- *Sony announces shutting down Bluepoint*:

so are they really going to release a hybrid switch1/2 cart of all these games at 60fps and make me re-buy all 4

i wonder what i could get for a trade-in for a BC cart of the same game lol

It's downloaded boys, excited to jump in tonight

As a reminder it's $40 on Amazon

The footage I've seen looks amazing

Really excited to play a Xenoblade game again. Hopefully by the time I finish it, they will have announced s2 versions for xc1-3

Just picked this up on sale on a whim a couple days ago. Was only like an hour or so in. Kinda hyped. My save file transfers, right?

I wouldn't say it's a thorough rework. Ps5 owners have been enjoying higher resolution and framerates for tons of ps4 games, for free.

One good thing with ps5 is that if you own the ps4 version, you get the ps5 version for free. That's right, they don't charge you for it

Many Switch 1 games automatically run at a higher resolution and a higher frame rate on the Switch 2 as well. Others have free upgrade patches.

Sony and Nintendo both also have paid upgrades for select games.

Lol charging $5 for 4k 60fps just after another strike against emulators... 🤡🤡

also it's clearly not 4k either. it's looking like 1080p to me in everything I've seen.
which is literally not even a real improvement over the original version, which ran at a dynamic 1080p, which I assume would always max out on Switch 2 through back compat anyway...

so this seems to literally just be a patch to change the fps lock from 30 to 60... an absolute joke.
handheld mode is 1080p now too tho I assume, so that's a plus.

meanwhile, the other Xenonlade games would need an update far more, like Xenoblade 2 looks like absolute ass in handheld mode, and really shit in docked mode too.
